We join you in urgent prayer for your mother right now and we thank you for your strong faith that nothing is impossible with our God who created the heavens and the earth. We understand how frightening it is to see a mother fall and fracture her shoulder and then face a major surgery with a plate, especially when there is the added complexity of long standing diabetes that has not been properly treated. We are standing with you in this very hour as she is in the ICU for insulin infusion and preparing for the operating theatre.
We take comfort in what Scripture tells us about our God as healer and sustainer. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3 and we are told in Jeremiah 30:17 that the Lord declares I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds. We also cling to Isaiah 41:10 where we are told not to be afraid for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And we remember that with God all things are possible in Matthew 19:26 and nothing is impossible with God in Luke 1:37. The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up in James 5:15.
We want to gently address two things you mentioned out of love and biblical wisdom. First, we hear your heart when you pray that no other blood should be added to her body other than the blood of Jesus. We fully agree that the blood of Jesus is our only hope for spiritual salvation and eternal healing, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness and it is by His wounds we are healed. Yet the blood of Jesus is spiritual atonement, not a physical transfusion. God in His mercy has provided medical means including donated blood to preserve physical life when needed. We join you in praying that the Lord would so guide the surgeons that there would be minimal blood loss and no need for transfusion, but we also pray that if the doctors in their wisdom determine a transfusion is necessary to save her life, you would receive it as part of God's provision and not refuse it, trusting that the Lord works through these means. We pray for wisdom for you and for the medical team in all decisions.
Second, we encourage you with love regarding the untreated diabetes. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and we are called to be good stewards of the health God has entrusted to us. The Lord can heal and forgive the past, but going forward we encourage you to help your mother commit to proper ongoing treatment and follow up for her diabetes, as this is part of honoring God and protecting the healing He will give through this surgery. We pray she will have a new desire to care for her body for His glory.
We also lift up your spiritual life and your financial needs. We know the burden of medical costs can be heavy, but our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19. We trust Him not only for physical healing but for peace that passes understanding and for provision. We pray you will continue to trust in the Lord with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight in Proverbs 3:5-6.
We now pray together for your mother.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him we have access to You and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved in Acts 4:12. Lord, we lift this precious mother to You right now in the ICU. We ask You to be with her, to calm her heart, to regulate her blood sugar through the insulin infusion, and to prepare her body for surgery. Guide the hands and minds of every surgeon, anesthesiologist, and nurse, grant them skill, steady hands, and clear judgment. We ask that You would allow the plate to be placed perfectly, that the bone would heal completely, and that she would regain full use of her right arm without pain or limitation. We ask in Jesus name that You would protect her from infection, from complications, from excessive bleeding, and from any adverse effects of anesthesia or diabetes. We pray that no further intervention beyond what is necessary would be required and that her recovery would be swift and complete. Provide for this family financially, Lord, open doors for the resources needed for surgery and aftercare, and strengthen their faith and spiritual walk through this trial. Let Your healing power be evident so that all glory goes to You, for You are the Lord who heals us in Exodus 15:26. We entrust her fully into Your loving hands, trusting Your perfect will, and we pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
