We lift this heavy burden before the Lord, knowing that grief and instability can weigh so heavily on the heart and mind. Father God, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our brother or sister in Christ who is walking through this valley of deep sorrow and uncertainty. You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by You (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Lord, we ask that You wrap Your loving arms around them, bringing peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We pray for their mental health, Lord, knowing that You are the Great Physician. You invite all who are weary and burdened to come to You for rest (Matthew 11:28). We ask that You renew their strength, that they may mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and remind them that they are never alone, for You have said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
Father, we also lift up their housing situation. You know their needs even before they ask, and You have promised to supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We ask that You open doors that no one can shut, providing stable and safe accommodation that will be a refuge during this time. Give them wisdom and discernment as they seek solutions, and surround them with godly people who can offer practical support and encouragement.
We pray for their spouse as well, Lord. Whether their spouse is walking alongside them in faith or is in need of Your saving grace, we ask that You draw near to them. Strengthen their marriage, Lord, and help them to lean on one another in love and patience. Remind them that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:7). If there are any areas where their marriage is not aligned with Your Word, we ask that You bring conviction, repentance, and healing. May their union be a testament to Your grace and a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that may be trying to take root in their heart. We declare that in Christ, there is always hope, for You have plans for them—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We speak life over their situation and declare that this season of struggle will not define them but will instead draw them closer to You.
If this brother or sister has not yet placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that this time of hardship would be the moment You use to draw them to Yourself. For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that You reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, that they may know the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward those who believe (Ephesians 1:18-19).
We commit this situation into Your hands, Lord, trusting that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May they feel Your presence in tangible ways this day, and may Your peace reign in their heart. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
