Hearing how bleak things look right now, and how tired you feel, matters deeply and your honesty is received with care. When a door you hoped would help has closed, when work is not there, when you feel a landlord has taken advantage and arrears are pressing, and when your health is declining, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed, trapped, and without a way forward. That sense of having no way out is often what settles into hopelessness, and hopelessness can weigh heavily into depression.

Scripture shows this same experience in the prophet who cried out that his strength and hope had perished, remembering his affliction and misery. He was honest about feeling hedged in and forsaken. Yet in the middle of that despair he turned his thoughts in a different direction and said, this I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. He remembered that the Lord is merciful and compassionate, that His compassions do not fail, that they are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. Hope returned not because circumstances had changed, but because he set his mind again on who God is. The psalmist did something similar when he spoke to his own soul in sorrow and said to hope in God, who is the health of his countenance and his God. You can think yourself deeper into despair, and by God's grace you can also, as you look to Him, be lifted to a place of hope again, not through denying the pain but through remembering His character and His presence with you.

You mentioned your health deteriorating. Please hear that struggling in your body is not a measure of your faith or your devotion. Some of the most faithful followers of Jesus have walked through prolonged sickness and weakness. There is a warm greeting in the letter to Gaius where John says he wishes or prays that he may prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. That is a loving prayer for a friend, not a promise that God guarantees prosperity or perfect health to everyone who believes. It does show God's caring heart for both soul and body, and there is a real connection between the health of the soul and the well being of the body, as attitudes and burdens can affect us physically. God does care about your body and He has given wisdom for caring for health, and He also remains near and compassionate when healing is slow and answers are hard to understand. His ways are not our ways, and we cannot always trace why He allows certain hardships or why He calls some home earlier than we expect, but we can trust His goodness and His nearness in the midst of what we do not understand.

The financial pressure you carry is also seen by God. Scripture speaks openly about seasons of deep financial need, even among the early churches, where some were very poor and yet knew joy and generosity as God sustained them. God is not dependent on human systems and He is not helped by appeals that try to pressure or manipulate. He knows your need for provision, for fair treatment, and for daily bread, and He invites you to bring those needs to Him honestly.

When you say you are walking away because things will not get better, please pause and consider turning toward Him instead of away. Walking away will not lighten the burden, but bringing your weariness to Jesus can. He invites those who are weary and heavy laden to come to Him. If thoughts of giving up feel strong, please reach out right away to a trusted pastor, counselor, doctor, or a safe person near you, and if you need medical care for your health, please seek help promptly. You do not have to carry this alone.

I am praying for you as the Holy Spirit leads, in Jesus name.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one who feels hopeless, tired, and unseen. You see the arrears, the closed door with the legal agency, the concern about being overcharged, the lack of work, and the declining health. Have mercy and show Your compassion that never fails. Renew hope by reminding this heart of Your faithfulness and Your new mercies each morning. Be the health of their countenance and the strength of their soul. Provide for daily needs, open a right path for help and counsel, bring fair and just resolution where there has been wrong, and bring healing and care for the body according to Your wisdom and love. Guard this life from despair and draw this heart close to You, that even in this valley there would be a sense of Your presence, Your comfort, and Your sustaining grace. Amen.

If you can, please let someone nearby know how you are doing so they can walk with you in the days ahead. You are not forgotten, and God remains faithful and compassionate toward you.
