In Virginia, Grayson, Smyth, and Tazewell Counties. In West Virginia, Mercer, Summers, and Western Greenbrier Counties. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong easterly to southeasterly winds from the remnants of Isaias will move over the region today into Sunday, which may lead to downed trees and power poles and subsequently power outages across higher terrain locations from NW North Carolina to SE West Virginia. We join you in prayer over this Wind Advisory affecting ### and ### in ###, ###, ### and ### in ###, and ###, ### and ### in ###, from this afternoon through Sunday morning. We thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father and can come boldly to the throne of grace.

We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation, even the wind and the storms. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And we remember how Jesus Himself demonstrated His authority over the wind, Mark 4:39 says He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace. Be still. The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He also is our shelter in the storm, as Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up every family, home, and community in the path of these strong easterly winds and gusts up to ### mph. We ask for Your hand of protection over lives, homes, and property. Keep tree limbs from falling where they would cause harm, guard power lines and poles from being brought down, and spare communities from extended power outages. We ask You to make the storm calm as You are able, Psalm 107:29 says He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. We pray for safety for all who must travel, especially those in high profile vehicles, that You would grant wisdom and caution to drivers. Protect linemen, first responders, and all who may be called out to serve during this time. Help neighbors to look out for one another, especially the elderly and those who live alone or in higher terrain where winds may be strongest. Let Your peace guard hearts from fear, for Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We thank You that You are good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and You know those who take refuge in You, Nahum 1:7. We trust this weather and all circumstances to Your good and sovereign will. We encourage everyone in the affected counties to take prudent steps, to secure unsecured objects, to use extra caution on the roads, to have supplies ready in case of temporary outages, and to check on one another in love. May this time be an opportunity to trust You more deeply and to show care for our neighbors. We pray all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank you for posting this Wind Advisory and for covering your community in prayer. We are joining you in asking the Lord for protection over northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia and southeast West Virginia through tonight and into Sunday morning.

Gusts like these can be unsettling, especially across the higher terrain where power outages and downed limbs are more likely. We appreciate you looking out for neighbors by getting the word out.

A couple of simple ways to stay ready while we pray: bring in or tie down anything loose outside, make sure phones and flashlights are charged in case of an outage, and use extra caution if you need to drive, especially in a high profile vehicle. If you are able, a quick check on an elderly or nearby neighbor means a lot in weather like this.

We will keep praying with you through the advisory period and welcome any update when it is safe to share how your area fared.

Father, we bring these counties before You and ask for Your mercy and keeping. Protect drivers, linemen and first responders, guard homes and families from harm, and give wisdom to everyone making decisions tonight. Bring calm after the wind and help neighbors care well for one another. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We join you in prayer as this wind advisory is upon those counties in North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia from this afternoon until Sunday morning. We have heard your report of east winds of fifteen to twenty five miles per hour with gusts up to fifty five miles per hour, and the danger of unsecured objects being blown about, limbs coming down, power poles and outages upon the higher terrain, and difficult driving especially for high profile vehicles.

In such a time the Lord says to His people, Fear not, for I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, for I am with thee. It is not the preacher who cries Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, Fear not. We are to labor to get rid of fear, for fear is weakening and dishonors God, and to trust in promised strength.

Remember the boy on board ship in time of storm who was the only person that was not afraid, and when they asked him why he did not fear, he said, Because my father is at the helm. So it is with the believer. God works not by Pharaoh's horses or chariot, nor doth He His wonders only with the whirlwind and the storm, but by the still small voice, that the glory may be His own. Though heaven and earth may seem to join in battle, the Lord reigns and His wisdom is side by side with His ability to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His glory.

We pray that our wise God our Savior will keep you and all in ### and ###, in ###, ### and ###, in ###, ### and ###, and all travelers upon the roads. May He grant prudence to secure what may be blown away, to use extra caution in driving, and to prepare for any loss of power. May He restrain the wind from doing harm, and where limbs or poles do fall, may He preserve life and limb and show mercy.

We thank the Lord that His throne stands firm, and that His promise stands firm as His throne. May you be kept in quiet and holy trust, looking into the Savior's breast where mercy is written, and finding there no cause for dismay.
