Update on sibling harassment 8/24/26 - 2 prayer requests

And the saga of harassment between my sibling, Mom and I continues....
This weekend we received emails from them asking for information so that they could work out a budget. They're claiming the Lord told them to do this. But I'm not so sure.
Today (Monday), he called and made more demands. He said "I asked the Lord if you're doing stuff wrong and He said you were." He claims to be a believer and I hope he is,
but his actions speak MUCH louder than his words. He accuses me of lying and "stealing from Mom", neither of which is true. Mom & I are believers and we are praying for him.

I also have another prayer request. This weekend while browsing FB, I saw a post with Isaiah 41:10. I was wondering if this was a sign for us regarding our sibling. I've been asking
the LORD for some kind of confirmation as to whether or not He will help us. I'm not asking Him for lightning bolts, if you know what I mean...I struggle with discernment and
I could use some encouragement, BUT if the Lord is indeed trying to reach me via this sibling I want to know. I also want to know if that's not the case.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH :):):)

We hear the deep pain and frustration in your words as this conflict with your sibling continues to weigh heavily on your heart. The accusations, demands, and claims of divine direction, especially when used to manipulate or control, are grievous to the Spirit. Scripture warns us in Matthew 7:15-16, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. By their fruits you will know them." While we pray your sibling is indeed a believer, their actions must align with the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). When demands are laced with accusation and pride, it is right to question whether this is truly the Lord’s leading or the flesh’s deception.

You are not alone in this struggle. The enemy seeks to divide families, especially those who profess Christ, because he knows the power of unity in the body of believers. But we stand with you in declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The Lord sees your integrity and your mother’s, and He is your defender. Proverbs 12:22 tells us, "Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight." You are walking in truth, and that is a testimony before God.

Regarding Isaiah 41:10, which says, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness," we believe this is indeed a word of confirmation for you. The Lord is not a God of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). If you are seeking Him earnestly, He will make His will known to you. The fact that this verse came to your attention in a time of distress is no coincidence, it is the Holy Spirit’s gentle reminder that He is with you, strengthening you, and upholding you. Do not despise small confirmations; God often speaks in whispers to those who are listening.

We must also address the misuse of the Lord’s name in this situation. When your sibling claims, "The Lord told me..." or "The Lord said you were doing wrong," this is a dangerous presumption. James 4:11-12 warns, "Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?" The Lord does not contradict His Word, and His Word commands us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), not to accuse or manipulate. If your sibling is truly hearing from God, their words will align with Scripture and bear the fruit of repentance and humility.

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and approach Your throne of grace. Lord, we lift up this family to You, asking for Your divine intervention in this painful situation. Father, we rebuke the spirit of accusation, division, and manipulation that seeks to tear this family apart. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and discernment for this sister and her mother. Give them clarity to see the truth and the strength to stand firm in it. Protect their hearts from bitterness, fear, and doubt. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Father, we pray for this sibling. If they are truly Your child, we ask that You convict their heart of any sin or deception. Break the pride that causes them to accuse and demand rather than serve and love. Soften their heart to receive correction and to walk in humility. If they are not walking with You, we pray that You draw them to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ. Let them see the log in their own eye before they attempt to remove the speck from their sister’s (Matthew 7:3-5).

Lord, we thank You for the confirmation of Isaiah 41:10. We declare that You are with them, strengthening them, helping them, and upholding them with Your righteous right hand. Let this truth sink deep into their spirits, dispelling all fear and anxiety. Remind them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Father, we ask that You bring reconciliation to this family, but only according to Your will and in a way that glorifies You. If it is Your will for this sibling to repent and restore the relationship, we pray that You make the way clear. If not, we pray that You give this sister and her mother the grace to release this burden to You and to walk in peace, knowing that You are their vindicator.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who reconciles us to You and to one another. Amen."

In this season, we encourage you to cling to the truth of God’s Word. Psalm 37:5-6 says, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun." You are not responsible for your sibling’s choices or their walk with the Lord, but you are responsible for your own. Continue to walk in integrity, love, and prayer. If your sibling is not open to godly counsel or correction, you may need to set boundaries to protect your heart and your mother’s, trusting that God will deal with them in His time.

Lastly, remember that the Lord often uses trials to refine us and draw us closer to Him. James 1:2-4 tells us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." This season is not in vain. The Lord is using it to strengthen your faith, deepen your dependence on Him, and teach you to walk in His peace. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and He will guide you through this storm.

We hear how wearing this has been for you and your mom, especially when the pressure comes with spiritual language attached and then leaves you questioning what is from the Lord and what is not. It's understandable you would feel on edge and also hungry for a clear sign that God is with you in it.

When someone says "the Lord told me you are doing wrong" while also making demands and accusations that you know aren't true, it puts you in a hard spot. We don't need to argue the claim itself to respond wisely. We can look at the pattern and the fruit of how someone is treating others, and we can keep our own responsibilities clear. That is where healthy boundaries help, they are like a property line that lets you stay connected as family while still being able to say a calm yes or no about what information, money, or access you will share.

One thing that has helped others in a similar tug-of-war is for you and your mom to decide together, ahead of the next call or email, what you will and will not share about finances, to keep communication in writing, and to invite a trusted pastor or wise third party to be a buffer if the demands continue. It keeps things factual and less reactive, and gives you both breathing room to pray without pressure.

We also hear your struggle with discernment around that post you saw. God does encourage and comfort His people, and He also gives wisdom through steady prayer, counsel, and peace over time, not just a single coincidence online. Keep bringing that honest question to Him, asking Him to make His leading clear and to guard you from confusion, and let trusted believers who know you walk with you as you weigh it.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. Give this dear daughter and her mom wisdom, protection, and calm as they navigate these conversations, and work in their sibling's heart in the way only You can. Lead them step by step and let them rest in Your care. Amen.

We try to establish boundaries, but this sibling walks over them. They came for a visit and recently eavesdropped on my phone calls. They also stood over Mom when she was on the PC and watched her enter her password so they could access it later. (I was on vacation when it happened, they "suggested" I take a vacation and it turns out they used that opportunity to snoop and pry.)
They are VERY demanding. They will email us, then call several times if we don't respond.
I should mention that they carry a lot of bitterness, anger and hurt from over the years. In the past I said and did things I shouldn't have done. I apologized and asked forgiveness but they refused. They expect mom & I to forgive them. Many years ago in the 80s, while I was in the area to look for a job, I stayed with them and their spouse. Both of them went into my belongings, found my personal journal, and read everything, then made a surprise (verbal) attack about it. I had to apologize for it, even though I don't think I should've had to do that. So, as you can see, this hurt they carry goes back over 40 years. They also carry pain from the loss of my oldest brother in 2024. I'm praying for the Lord to reveal whether or not this sibling could be either demon possessed or tormented.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your sorrowful account and have carried it before the throne of grace, and we desire to answer you with truth and tenderness.

Concerning your sibling, there is much that calls for holy discernment. When a man says, The Lord told me, and then proceeds to utter accusations and demands which the facts do not sustain, we must test that claim by the Word of God. The Lord does not speak with a divided tongue. He does not prompt one child to harass another, nor to bring false charges of lying and stealing where there is no truth in them. Our Saviour has taught us that false professors may use very pious language while their lives deny it, and that such profession, when it covers covetousness or unkindness, is a grievous thing in the sight of God. Actions do indeed speak louder than words, and we are to know men by their fruits.

You and your mother do well to pray for him, and we join you in that. We pray that if he knows Christ, he may be humbled and brought to repent of harsh and hasty dealing, and that if he does not yet know Him, he may be brought to see that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that no claim to have heard from the Lord can stand in place of a broken heart and faith in the atoning blood. We pray also for your protection and peace, that you may not be driven by intimidation, but may act with quiet honesty. If a budget is to be considered, let it be done in the light, with counsel, with written truth, and not under spiritual coercion. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, and the Lord guides His people not by sudden impressions that serve self interest, but by His counsel, by His Word, and by great principles infused in the heart, such as to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to His will. By that very submission we are furnished with unerring guidance.

Concerning the second matter, the post you saw with Isaiah 41:10, we would encourage you thus. That verse is indeed a most precious word from the Lord, Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God, I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. It is true at all times for every believing heart, whether you had seen it on that day or not. Yet we must not treat the providence of a social media feed as though it were a new revelation or a private sign to settle a family dispute. The Lord has given us judgment and He has given us His completed Word. We are not to seek lightning bolts, nor to build our confidence upon a coincidental sighting, but upon the sure counsel of God which stands fast forever. His promise to help you does not depend upon that post, and His help will not fail you if you never see such a post again. Take the promise as true because God has spoken it in Scripture, plead it in prayer, and look for His help in His own way and time.

We would counsel you to continue in prayer, to walk in truth, to keep careful records that your integrity may be clear, to seek wise and godly counsel near at hand, perhaps a pastor who knows you both, and to refuse every false peace which would ask you to accept an accusation that is not true for the sake of quiet. The Lord who is the true Shepherd feeds and tends His flock, and His wisdom is their guidance, His love their perpetual shield.

We now pray for you. O Lord our God, look upon this daughter and her mother in their distress. Strengthen them, help them, uphold them with Thy right hand. Give them discernment, keep them from falsehood within and without, and give them grace to speak the truth in love. Work in the heart of their sibling, convict him of sin where he has sinned, and bring him, if it be Thy will, to repentance and to faith in Christ. Guide this family by Thy counsel, and afterward receive them to glory, for Jesus sake. Amen.
