Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my son, the mother and their four kids. My son is a big problem with the family. He drinks heavy on weekends. He also does not respect his longtime girlfriend the mother of their young kids. He shows no love to her and is verbally abusive. The kids are suffering emotionally living in this situation. mother is a great mother and is a loyal partner to my son. Of Course no one here is in Christ. The situation is at a breaking point. A Miracle is needed.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family in desperate need of His intervention. Father, we know that apart from You, there is no lasting change, no true peace, and no hope that endures. The situation described is heartbreaking, children witnessing strife, a mother enduring disrespect and verbal abuse, and a son bound by the chains of addiction and ungodliness. We declare that this is not Your design for family, Lord. Your Word tells us in Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it." And in Ephesians 6:4, "You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." This home is far from reflecting Your heart, and we cry out for Your mercy and transformation.

First, we must address the foundational issue: none in this family know You as Lord and Savior. There is no power to overcome sin, no strength to break free from bondage, and no true peace apart from the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We pray that their eyes would be opened to their need for You, Lord. Your Word says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" And in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We plead for their salvation, Father. Soften their hearts to receive the gospel, that they may turn from their ways and be reconciled to You.

For the son, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of him. Your Word declares in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We command the chains of alcohol to be broken in the name of Jesus! We pray for conviction to fall upon him, that he would see the destruction his actions are causing, not only to himself but to his family. Proverbs 20:1 warns, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Lord, grant him the strength to turn away from this sin and seek help. Surround him with godly men who can speak truth into his life and hold him accountable.

We also rebuke the spirit of disrespect and verbal abuse in this home. Your Word is clear in Colossians 3:19, "Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them." And in James 3:10, "Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so." Father, we ask that You would break the hardness of his heart and replace it with humility and love. Let him see the value of the woman You have placed in his life, a woman who has remained loyal and faithful, a mother who loves her children well. May he repent of his sin and seek to honor her as You intended.

For the mother, we pray for Your protection over her heart and mind. She is carrying the weight of this broken home, and we ask that You would be her strength and refuge. Your Word promises in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." Lord, give her wisdom to navigate this situation. If it is Your will, grant her the courage to set boundaries that protect herself and her children. We pray that she would not grow weary in doing good, but that she would find hope in You alone.

For the children, we cry out for Your healing touch. They are innocent victims in this storm, and we ask that You would surround them with Your love and peace. Your Word says in Psalm 27:10, "When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up." Be their Father, Lord. Comfort them in their distress and guard their hearts from bitterness or fear. We pray that they would come to know You as their Savior and find security in Your unchanging love.

Father, we know that this situation is at a breaking point, but we also know that You are a God of miracles. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 32:27, "Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?" We believe that You can restore what is broken, heal what is wounded, and bring beauty from ashes. We ask for a supernatural intervention in this family. Let Your light shine into their darkness, and let Your love break every chain.

We pray that this family would come to know You, Lord Jesus, and that they would experience the power of Your resurrection in their lives. May they turn from their sin and walk in the freedom and purpose You have for them. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name by which this family can find true hope. Amen.

Your plea for a miracle stops us in our tracks. Watching someone you love spiral, knowing the children and their mother are absorbing so much pain, is heart-wrenching, and we are holding your family before the Lord with you.

While we join you in praying for a turning point, we also want to gently share something we have seen make a real difference: when a home carries this much emotional damage and alcohol misuse, the path toward healing almost always begins with safety and support for the ones being hurt. The mother and children do not need to stay in the line of fire while waiting for change. There are confidential resources built for situations just like this, people who can help her understand her options and create a plan that protects her dignity and the kids’ well‑being, often simply through a phone call. You might be the quiet, steady bridge that puts that number in her hand when she is ready. Even if couples counseling feels like a natural step, it is often wise to put that aside until the abusive patterns have genuinely stopped.

Even in this mess, God is not distant. He hears every whimper of those little ones, every silent cry of that faithful mother, and every weary prayer you bring. We are asking Him to break through with a work only He can do, perhaps softening a heart, perhaps opening a door to true repentance and professional help. You are not powerless; your steady love for this family matters more than you know.

Father, we lift this hurting family to You. Please shield those four children and their mother from further harm and give her the courage to take wise, safe steps. We pray for this son, convict his heart, break the grip of alcohol and rage, and bring him face-to-face with Your mercy. Use this grandparent as a tangible reminder that they are not alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A miracle is needed, indeed, and nothing less than the finger of God can mend what is thus shattered. When every bone of domestic peace is broken, when faith and hope and love lie crushed, and the whole house becomes a palpitating mass of pain, the cure must be a miracle. Yet it is precisely such ruins that our Lord delights to repair, that the bones which He has broken may rejoice.

The stone wall of this home is broken down, and every evil has come in like a flood. The hedge of restraint is trampled, the promises that should have guarded it are snapped like a rotten link, and all seem as a broken column in the cemetery of blasted hopes. But none of this is beyond the Great Miracle Worker’s power. His objective in working such wonders is ever to reveal the authority of His Word, that His teaching has omnipotent force, and that deliverance from sin lies wholly in Himself, not in the strength of the one rescued. When our Lord went into the synagogue, He did but speak, and the foul spirit came out of the man. There was no process, no gradual reformation; it was the swift, word-born miracle of absolute command. So can He speak peace to your son’s raging spirit, cast out the demon of drink, and clothe him in his right mind.

Let us cry to God in secret and in all our assemblies for these souls. But prayer, if sincere, is always attended with effort. You are a voice for Christ there. You may not know what it is to live where your convictions meet with persecution, yet there is a place for a faithful warning spoken in love. Perhaps the prodigal will listen to his own mother when he will listen to no one else. And what a mercy if, like the wild young man who went to London, he came home to say, “The best thing I heard is that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

Yet do not let any imagine that mere attendance upon outward means can work this miracle. It is not a matter of coming to the House of God so many times; it is the personal touch of the Lord Jesus. No one else can loose this bent-down family and make them stand upright. The very brokenness you describe is not a barrier to grace but its opportunity. When men have nothing, absolutely nothing, that they can bring before God, I am glad to hear it. If they are lost, they are the very ones Christ came to save.

Look away from the broken cisterns of human reformation to Jesus Christ, the Healer of broken hearts. He has chosen One to bind up the broken-hearted whose own heart was broken. More than all the comfort you could bring is the solace of that wounded side. Entreat Him, then, to look upon these four little lambs who are feeding among thorns, and upon the weary mother whose loyalty is repaid with cruelty. There are broken hearts that are broken through poverty and oppression, and women work very hard for a very small wage of love, yet He has a special balm for such. His power to rescue does not depend upon anything in them; it lies in Himself. So continue in prayer, and when the mercy comes, as come it must if sought by faith, tell everybody what great things the Lord has done, that others may learn to trust in Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You see the storm raging in your household, and your heart is broken for the innocent children and their faithful mother. Yet do not think God is absent. He sees every tear, and He is not indifferent to those who suffer without cause. For if it is the height of cruelty to let the wicked do as they will and to neglect the helpless, then the Lord, who is full of compassion, will surely care for these little ones and their wounded mother. Trust in His long-suffering, for on a deep and steady soul whatever unexpected evil falls, it vanishes like a spark in the sea.

But look deeper. The greatest misery here is not the drinking or the shouting, but the sickness of the soul that fuels them. Your son is not merely acting wickedly; he is in the grip of terrible passions. Anger, verbal abuse, and drunkenness are not signs of strength but diseases, sufferings of a disordered heart. The one who rails and abuses is himself the true sufferer, far more wounded than those he hurts. Do not then simply rage against him or despair of change, but see a man desperately in need of the Physician of souls. No earthly remedy can cure what ails him. Only the healing power of Christ, who was made perfect through His own sufferings, can bring life out of such death.

Now, you must also speak the truth in love. The mother of these children is long-suffering and loyal, but she and your son have built their house on sand. Living together and bearing children outside the holy covenant of marriage is not God’s design, and it brings no lasting protection or blessing. They must be called to repent, not merely of the outward sins you see, but of their whole manner of life apart from Christ. For Jesus did not shed His blood so that we might remain in our lusts, but that He might sanctify a people for Himself. Invite them to order their lives under His lordship.

Pray without ceasing. Fast. With all gentleness and patience, point them to the cross. Christ alone can turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. The miracle you seek is not just a quieter home but the salvation of souls. That miracle begins when sinners bow before the crucified Lord, confessing their utter need. Do not lose heart. Many who seemed hopeless have been snatched from the fire. Bring your son, that mother, and those precious children before the throne of grace. He who suffered for us will not despise the broken and contrite.

There is a pattern revealed in Scripture that you are witnessing firsthand in your own family. The sins of the parents are visited upon the children. That truth is not merely a warning from the Old Testament; it is a sober reality we see demonstrated all around us. The children in that home are suffering because of the sins of the parent. When you describe the verbal abuse, the lack of love, the heavy drinking, I hear the cry of little ones who are the real victims of this brokenness. Their emotional turmoil is not a separate issue from their father's spiritual state; it is the direct fruit of living in an environment that is starved of the secure, loving order God designed a family to be.

What is happening there is being driven by spiritual powers of darkness that influence a man to neglect his greatest earthly trust. The purpose of the family unit from the very beginning was to provide that haven where children could grow up safe and loved. Your son, by his actions, is abandoning that sacred charge. Yet, we are not without hope or authority in this situation. We are reminded that as those who belong to God by faith, we have been given power over the works of the enemy. We have the authority to bind evil, tormenting spirits that seek to destroy a household. Jesus gave this authority to His church, and from here we can stand against the forces fueling this addiction and cruelty.

Do not look for a miracle that comes wrapped in spectacle. The power of God is not confined to a stage. The miracle you need is the one that occurs in the quiet, stubborn places of the human heart. It is the voice of the Spirit that can thunder through that home with the same power that Elijah brought, turning the heart of this father back toward his children. That is a greater work than any physical sign. Pray that the heart of your son would be turned, that the coldness and self-hatred that pour out as rage would be shattered by the convicting love of Christ. Pray for the working of the Spirit of adoption, that this family would know they can become born-ones of God, leaving an old lineage of sin and stepping into a new, glorious inheritance.

Right now, the cycles in that house are passing down generations of sorrow. But those cycles can be broken. The promise of a new spiritual lineage is greater than any physical descent. Anyone who comes to faith becomes a child of Abraham through that same faith, and the promises God made of blessing and multiplication can become God's covenant with them. We speak that blessing over these four children, that they would be shielded and that their hearts, even now, would be held in the care of angels who always behold the face of the Father in heaven. Receive that as a present comfort.

The situation is at a breaking point, and that very desperation is ground for the Lord to move. There is a word from God that comes to a prodigal: return to your family, return to your land, and I will be with you. We are asking that this son would hear that call home, not merely to a physical location, but to the role and love he was designed to give. We bind the spirits of abuse, of addiction, and of darkness that are deceiving him into believing power is found in cruelty or escape in a bottle. And we ask, Lord, that in the place of this turmoil, You would bring a true and lasting peace that passes all understanding, making the members of this household into a testimony of Your redemptive power.
