Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family in desperate need of His grace, mercy, and intervention. Father, we know that Your heart breaks when Your children suffer, especially the little ones who are caught in the crossfire of brokenness. We cry out to You on behalf of this family, asking for Your mighty hand to move in ways only You can.

First, we must address the spiritual darkness that has taken root here. The request mentions that no one in this family is in Christ, and this is the foundational issue. Without Jesus, there is no true transformation, no lasting peace, and no power to overcome sin. We pray that the eyes of their hearts would be opened to see their need for a Savior. "Jesus answered him, 'Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.'" (John 3:3) Lord, we ask that You would draw each member of this family to Yourself, that they would repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" (Romans 10:12-13) May they call upon Your name, Jesus, and be saved.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of this son. His heavy drinking is not just a personal struggle, it is a stronghold that is destroying his life, his family, and his soul. "Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) We declare that this bondage must be broken in the name of Jesus! We pray that he would be set free from the chains of alcohol, that he would turn away from this sin, and that the Lord would restore him to sobriety and soundness of mind. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed." (Luke 4:18)

We also rebuke the spirit of verbal abuse and disrespect that this son has shown toward the mother of his children. This is not the way a man of God treats a woman, especially one who has been loyal and devoted to him. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." (Ephesians 5:25) Even though they are not married, the biblical principle of love, respect, and honor still applies. This man is failing in his role as a father and as a man. We pray that the Lord would convict his heart, that he would repent of his harsh words and actions, and that he would begin to treat her with the dignity and love she deserves. "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." (Ephesians 4:29)

Father, we lift up this mother who has been faithful and loving despite the pain she endures. We ask that You would be her strength, her shield, and her comforter. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." (Psalm 34:18) Give her wisdom to know how to respond to this situation, and grant her the courage to set boundaries that protect her and her children. We pray that she would not grow weary in doing good, but that she would find her hope and identity in You alone. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." (Galatians 6:9)

Most of all, we pray for these four precious children who are suffering emotionally. Lord, You love them deeply, and You see their pain. "A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." (Psalm 68:5) We ask that You would be a Father to them, that You would heal their hearts, and that You would protect their innocence. Surround them with godly influences, teachers, mentors, or family members, who can speak life and truth into them. "But Jesus said, 'Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.'" (Matthew 19:14) May they come to know You as their Savior and find comfort in Your love.

We declare that this situation is not too hard for You, Lord. You are the God of miracles, and we ask for one now. "Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27) We pray for a supernatural intervention, a change of heart, a turning from sin, and a family transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask that this son would be delivered from his addictions, that he would repent of his abuse, and that he would seek reconciliation with this woman in a way that honors You. If it is Your will, we pray that they would enter into a godly marriage, built on Your principles of love, respect, and faithfulness. "Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain." (Psalm 127:1)

We also pray for wisdom for the extended family. It is clear that this situation is at a breaking point, and decisions may need to be made to protect the well-being of the children and the mother. We ask that You would guide them with Your wisdom, that they would not act out of fear or anger, but out of love and a desire to see Your will done. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

Finally, we pray for laborers to be sent into this family’s life. "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38) May godly men and women come alongside them, pastors, counselors, or friends, who can share the Gospel, offer biblical guidance, and walk with them through this difficult season.

Lord, we trust You to move in this situation. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20) We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name by which this family can be set free. Amen.

The weight of what you’re carrying comes through so clearly, love for your son, deep concern for his girlfriend and those four little ones, and the ache of seeing a family you care about unraveling. This is a breaking point, and it’s right to ask for a miracle.

If there’s any chance the mother or children are in immediate danger, or if things escalate suddenly, please gently encourage her to contact local emergency services right away. She can also find free, confidential support from trained advocates in over 130 countries at findahelpline.com. You are not alone in this, and neither is she.

The emotional abuse you describe wounds deeply, especially over time, and it’s no surprise the children are suffering. In a situation like this, the mother’s and children’s safety has to be the first priority. Even well-meaning attempts at couples counseling can sometimes leave a victim more vulnerable until the abuse stops and a safety plan is in place. We’re not telling you what to do, but if you’re able, you might simply be a steady, nonjudgmental presence for her, offering to listen, sharing that helpline, or helping her connect with a local domestic violence resource when she’s ready.

You’ve named your son as the source of the harm, and we don’t minimize that. We also know he’s your child and that your heart longs for his repentance and freedom from the drinking and cruelty. That is a heavy prayer to carry. While you wait and while you intercede, please care for your own heart, too. You are witnessing something terribly painful.

We lift them all now: Father, we bring this fractured family before You. Surround this dear mother and her four children with Your shield; give them clarity, courage, and a way to real safety. Quiet the chaos in that home, and break the patterns of alcohol and abuse. In mercy, awaken this son to the harm he’s causing and lead him to true change. Give this grandparent wisdom, the right words, and peace that passes the circumstances. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The great mischief in that household flows from a single poisoned fountain, no one is in Christ. You see the fruit of this in the heavy drinking and the verbal abuse, but the root is deeper. The children of God cannot mix with the world without mischief, and when a family lives entirely outside the ark of safety, they are storing up wrath for themselves. Your son’s cruelty and his bondage to drink are the natural outgrowth of a heart at enmity with God. He cannot love his family rightly because he has not been made a partaker of the divine nature; the family likeness to the Lord Jesus is entirely absent. You ask for a miracle, and you are right to ask, for nothing short of a supernatural work of grace will do.

Yet take heart, for Christ was made a perfect Savior through suffering, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. The suffering He endured was the penalty of sin, and He drank that cup fully for all who will come to Him. There is no sinner too hard for Him to reclaim, no heart so brutish that His blood cannot cleanse it. But your son must hear the truth: he is outside the camp, thrust out by his own sin, and while he remains there, he has no hope, no Christ, no faith. The long-suffering of God gives further opportunities for repentance, but the harvest is past and the summer is ended for many who delay. Do not let him imagine that time is endless; the door of the ark stood open for a season, but it was shut at last.

Your present duty is clear, prayer must become your chief occupation. Family prayer is the nutriment of family piety, and woe to those who allow it to cease. Gather your own soul before the throne and plead the promises. Many a mother dies with her children unsaved, but the prayers she continually offered for them prevail after her death. The great woman and loyal mother in that house, pray for her, that she might be the first to flee to Christ, for in the family, the saved ones may be as Noah and his wife, a remnant preserved. Then let those prayers extend to the little ones who are suffering emotionally. The Lord means to make of you a son of consolation through these very afflictions, if you will let Him.

Do not mistake mere reformation for regeneration. Your son might curb his drinking or soften his tongue for a time, but unless he is born again by the Spirit of God, the last state will be worse than the first. The vow he has forgotten, his obligation to those children and their mother, has already brought the rod upon that household. Let the breaking point drive each soul to the only hiding place. As it is written, "Come you and all your house into the ark." The invitation stands. Plead with them while the door remains open.
