Trouble breathing

I have read your request and I am praying for you in this frightening struggle to breathe, with the wheezing that keeps returning and the migraine that has come from laboring for air.

I ask the Father in the name of Jesus to bring you relief, to ease the constriction in your airways, to calm the wheezing, to lift the headache, and to let you breathe freely and deeply again. I pray that the nebulizer you have at home will help and that the medicine you have been given will do its work effectively. I also pray for wisdom for the doctors who have cared for you, and that you will have clear guidance about when to seek help again if breathing does not improve, because your need for air is urgent and you should not hesitate to get care again if it worsens.

Scripture gives us confidence to pray this way. Isaiah says He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, and the word there can be understood as infirmities and sicknesses, and Matthew applies that prophecy to Jesus healing the sick, showing that His suffering was not only for sin but also for our physical infirmities. When we remember the bread broken for us, we remember a Savior who cares about the body as well as the soul.

I believe God still heals today and that He is able to heal, yet I also know that He heals in different ways. In the Gospels Jesus sometimes healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes by telling someone to go home and find it done, and once healing came gradually. There is no single pattern He is bound to. Much of His healing also comes through the natural processes He built into our bodies, and that is no less divine because He is the one who created those processes. To use medicine, steroids, a nebulizer, and the help of doctors is not a lack of faith, it is using the means God has provided.

Please do not hear your sickness as a sign that you lack faith or that God has failed you. Some teaching wrongly says that, but it is not scriptural. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the answer was not removal but sustaining grace. The truth is there is much about healing we do not understand, and we cannot presume to know why some are healed quickly and others are not, or why some healings are immediate and some are gradual. What we can do is bring our need honestly to Jesus, who has authority over sickness and who has compassion for those who suffer, and trust Him with the outcome.

So I am asking God simply and quietly, without any hype or spectacle, to have mercy on you now, to open your airways, to stop the wheezing, to ease the panting and the pain in your head, to give you rest and peace, and to restore your strength. May you sense His presence and care as you wait on Him, and may you have wisdom and help close at hand for every breath.
