Tremendeous stress

Natasha 2

Beloved of All
I am under tremendeous stress.
Things stressful at work, with the schedule, with collegues, with pupils ...in my family, my brother and mother both manipulating me, brother is vindicatif and diminishing me (he was ### months in prison for phisical and emotional abuse of one woman and he used cocain and still weekend alcoholic...), mother demands of the two of us to get along, that means that i must suffer this humiliation even further, mother has Alzheimer first late stage...there are pupils who are harrassing me, my gas boiler must be repaired and the handyman is stolling - must heat the water to take a shower, installing of a new washing machine and nobody to help, deliverers are difficult to catch...lord please help - i have problems with breathing because of that

We hear how heavy and overwhelming this burden has become for you and we lift you up together before the throne of grace. The stress you describe at work with schedules and colleagues and pupils, the harassment you are facing, the practical troubles with your boiler and washing machine and deliverers, and the deep pain in your family with your brother and your mother, all together would overwhelm anyone. We also hear that this is affecting your breathing and we are deeply concerned for you.

We want to share what God says about carrying such burdens. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-30, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. We are told in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And in 1 Peter 5:7 we are told to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. When your heart feels overwhelmed, we pray Psalm 61:2 over you, When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. God also promises in Isaiah 41:10, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We notice your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we lovingly want to address this because it is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Scripture says in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name in every need. It is in His name that we pray for you now and seek God’s will together.

We also want to speak with biblical clarity about your family situation. God commands us in Exodus 20:12 to honor your father and your mother, and we know you love your mother who is in the late stage of Alzheimer’s, which is a heavy cross to carry. Honoring her does not mean you must submit to humiliation or abuse from your brother. The Bible says in Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Sometimes being at peace requires loving boundaries, especially when there has been physical and emotional abuse, substance abuse, and vindictive behavior. Forgiveness is commanded by God, but forgiveness does not mean enabling continued harm or pretending the abuse did not happen. We encourage you to seek godly counsel and wise boundaries, to not retaliate, but also to not allow yourself to be diminished and manipulated. The Lord sees what has been done and He is your defender and your refuge.

For your work and the harassment from pupils, we pray for strength and wisdom. God calls us in Colossians 3:23 to work heartily as for the Lord, but He also calls others to treat you with dignity. We pray for protection and for favor with colleagues and those in authority over you.

We also urge you with care to seek medical help promptly for your breathing difficulties. God cares for your body as well as your soul, and He often provides help through doctors and care providers. Please do not carry this physical symptom alone.

We pray together now for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one to You. You see every stress, every demand, every humiliation, every sleepless night and every breath that feels short. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give rest to the weary soul and calm to the anxious thoughts. We ask You to be near as the Rock that is higher when the heart is overwhelmed. Strengthen and uphold with Your righteous right hand.

Lord, we pray for healing for the body and for ease in breathing, and we ask for wisdom to get proper medical care. We pray for the practical needs, for the gas boiler to be repaired, for the handyman to act honestly and promptly, for the new washing machine to be installed and for deliverers to be reliable. You know every detail and You care about these daily burdens.

We pray for the family. Have mercy on this mother in her illness and give our friend grace and endurance to honor her with love. Protect from manipulation and vindictive words and actions from the brother. Set healthy boundaries, bring conviction where needed, and keep this dear one safe from further abuse. Bring peace where it is possible, and give wisdom to know how to love without being harmed.

We pray for the workplace, for the schedule and colleagues and pupils. Quiet the harassment, grant respect, and provide allies and encouragement. Let Your presence be felt at work and at home.

Above all, draw this dear one closer to Jesus, to know that access to You is only through Him, to trust Him fully for salvation and for daily help. Let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified in this life.

We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We hear how heavy this season feels for you, with so much pressing in at once, work and pupils and colleagues, the boiler and washing machine and handymen who don't come, and the painful strain with your brother and your mother in her illness. When so many demands pile up together, it makes sense that your body is feeling it too, including the breathing trouble you mentioned.

We want to gently encourage you to have that breathing checked promptly by your doctor or clinic, alongside prayer and not instead of it, so you can get care and peace of mind.

With so many stressors competing for your attention, it can help to not carry them all alone or try to solve them all at once. One small next step we would suggest is to choose just one practical need to invite help into this week, whether that is asking your doctor's office for guidance, or asking a trusted friend, neighbor, or someone at church to help you follow up with the handyman or be present when a delivery comes. You don't have to manage every detail by yourself, and having one other person aware of what you are facing can lighten the load a little.

You are not forgotten in all of this. We are praying for you and holding you before the Lord.

Father, we lift our friend to You who sees every part of this stress. Please give wisdom for each decision, bring reliable help for the home needs, protect and steady them at work and in family relationships, and grant rest and ease in breathing. Lead them to the right support and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrowful account has been read with deep sympathy and earnest prayer, for you are pressed on every side and your spirit is well nigh overwhelmed.

Our Savior gives this injunction, Do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent and diligent in your calling, yet do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness and distress. I have found by my own experience and by observation of others that anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it brought any grist to the mill or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. And the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Your strength is weakened, your judgment clouded, and even your breath is straitened by it. Therefore hear the word of the Lord, Cast all your care upon Him, for He careth for you, and in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Then the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your heart and mind.

You speak of great heaviness at work, with schedule and colleagues and pupils who harass you, and of the daily trials of a failing boiler and a washing machine not yet settled, with workmen who stall and deliverers hard to find. These temporal cares are not despised by your Father. He adopted us into His family when we were aliens and rebels, and made us heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ, so that it may be said, All things are yours. He who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows knows that you have need of these things. Be prudent in seeking needful help, ask the aid of faithful friends or brethren in the church to help you with these practical burdens, for God often provides through the hands of His people. Do what lies within your power this day, and leave tomorrow with the Lord.

Your family sorrow is very tender. To have a brother who is vindictive and diminishing, with such a history of violence and intoxication, and to be pressed by a dear mother in the late stage of Alzheimer to get along at any cost, is a double grief. To honor your mother does not require you to submit yourself to humiliation or abuse. Honor may be shown by gentle care, by prayer, by providing for her need as you are able, while at the same time you set a firm and quiet boundary against evil speaking and manipulation. It is right to forgive as Christ has forgiven you, and to desire your brother's salvation, yet forgiveness does not demand that you place yourself again under his power to wound you. Seek wise and godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer near you, that you may walk in both truth and love, and that you may be kept safe. Remember that those who have been quickened and made to live are brought into the family of God, and they bear His likeness. Pray for your brother that he may be brought to repentance and to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no other, and He is able to save to the uttermost all who come unto God by Him. Him that cometh He will in no wise cast out.

As for your mother, the Lord sees her affliction and your faithful care in this long trial. In such weakness the covenant mercy of God shines brightly, for He preserves His people and gathers them as Noah and his family into the ark. Continue in private prayer for her and for yourself, and where you can, keep up family prayer according to your strength. That holy practice is the nutriment of piety and the castle of the soul in evil days.

You mention trouble with breathing under this stress. I entreat you to seek prompt medical help for this bodily distress, and to tell a trusted person near you how greatly you are burdened, so that you are not left alone under it. The soul and body are knit together, and care for the one is care for the other. Take rest where you can, seek fresh air, and cast your burden upon the Lord who sustaineth thee.

May the Lord appear to you of old and show you His everlasting love. May He draw you upward and heavenward by His Spirit, to repentance, to faith, to holiness and to continuance in well doing, even when business and family and a thousand groveling cares would drag you down. You belong, if you are in Christ, to the whole family in heaven and earth, one undivided household which death cannot divide and which error cannot finally scatter. You are not forgotten in that family.

I pray now for you, that the Lord will give you breath and rest, that He will quiet your anxious thoughts, provide helpers for your home, give you wisdom with pupils and colleagues, protect you from the hand of the unkind, comfort you in your mother's affliction, and above all keep you near the cross of Christ where every overwhelming obligation has been met by His precious blood. What shall we render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward us. Take the cup of salvation and call upon His name, and He will not fail you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cry for help has been heard, and the weight you are carrying is truly heavy. To be pressed at work by schedules, colleagues and pupils who harass you, and at the same time to be pressed at home by family wounds, by broken appliances and daily tasks with no one to help, and then to feel it in your very breathing, is more than anyone should bear alone. God sees all of this, and He invites you to cast your anxiety upon Him because He cares for you.

The Scriptures teach us that anxiety scourges the soul more sharply than any bodily stripe, and that many of our conflicts spring from the pressures and vanities of this life. You are feeling that scourging now. Yet God has not left you to toil without hope. He sends His own Word to take hold of the soul and to bring freedom, not always by removing every burden at once, but by giving strength to stand nobly when trials come and by granting quietness of heart while we wait upon Him. Even things that feel intolerable become bearable when we know that His help is near and that He is working to make us more mature and more reliant on Him through the struggle.

In your family, you are caught between honoring your mother who is suffering with Alzheimer in its late stage, and protecting yourself from a brother who has acted vindictively and abusively and who still struggles with alcohol. To honor your mother does not mean you must submit to humiliation or abuse. It is right to show her compassion in her illness, and it is also right to set firm and loving boundaries with your brother. You do not have to force a closeness that would expose you to further harm. Seek wisdom from a trusted pastor or counselor and, if you ever feel unsafe, seek help from safe people or authorities. The Lord calls us to peace, and to despise vainglory and revenge, leaving justice to Him while we guard our hearts from bitterness.

For your daily needs, please do not carry them alone. Your difficulty breathing under such stress should be brought to a doctor promptly, and your burdens at work and at home should be shared with faithful people around you. Ask your church community, a pastor, or a trusted neighbor for practical help with the boiler, the washing machine, and the other tasks that have become so difficult to manage. God often provides through the hands of others.

Let us pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come to You for this dear one who is overwhelmed. You know the stress at work, the harassment, the exhaustion, the broken things at home and the loneliness in trying to fix them. You know the pain caused by a brother and the sorrow of a mother in deep illness. Lord, have mercy. Grant relief for troubled breathing and for the body under strain, and guide to good medical care. Grant wisdom to set healthy boundaries, to act with both truth and love, and to find peace where there has been conflict. Provide trustworthy help for the practical needs, honest workers and kind helpers, and bring calm to the workplace and to the home. Lift anxiety and replace it with Your peace that passes understanding, and teach this heart to rest in Christ alone, in whom alone is salvation and true hope. Sustain each day, and let Your presence be felt as near and faithful. Amen.

You are not forgotten in this. Keep looking up to God, keep seeking help from His people, and keep taking the next small step He sets before you. If the breathing trouble continues or worsens, please seek medical help without delay, and let a pastor or mature believer near you know how you are doing so they can walk with you in the days ahead.
