Beloved of All
Your prayers for your son reflect the deep love of a parent for a child, and that is a love God understands perfectly. Scripture shows us the love of a father for his son as one of the strongest pictures of love on earth, and it points us to the love of the heavenly Father for His only begotten Son. When Abraham was asked to offer Isaac, his only son whom he loved, it foreshadowed what God Himself would do when He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son for us. Because God knows that kind of love, you can bring your son before Him with confidence that He hears and cares.
We join you in thanking God for the protection and blessings He has already given to you and your son, and we pray for His continued covering over you both. We ask the Lord to watch over your son in his traveling and to watch over you as you go out and come in, to keep your steps and to bring you safely home. The Scripture says that we are not sons in the same way Jesus is the only begotten Son, full of grace and truth, but through Him we have been given adoption as sons. God sent His Son, born of a woman, under the law, to redeem those under the law so that we might receive that adoption, and He has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts so we can cry, Abba, Father. As His adopted children, you can come to Him as a Father who is near and who keeps His own.
We also pray for what you have asked, for discernment, guidance, wisdom and strength. In the Scriptures a father urges his son to receive wisdom, to incline the ear to wisdom and apply the heart to understanding, to cry out for knowledge and lift the voice for understanding. That is a good prayer for your son and for yourself, that God would make you wise in every decision, that He would show you what is right and give you strength to walk in it. If any lacks wisdom, God gives generously to those who ask Him, and we ask Him to fill you both with clear minds and steady hearts.
For your protection at work and at home, we stand with you on the promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Scripture often speaks of God cutting off the enemies of His people and delivering them even when they were outnumbered, causing their enemies to fall and to flee before them. We pray that the Lord would do that for you, that He would set a guard around you at your jobs, in your homes and in your neighborhood, and keep you from harm from coworkers, managers, trespassers and neighbors. We pray that He would turn aside every plan meant for evil and use it for good, and that as you praise Him and give thanks, you would see His victory in your daily life, for God works as His people praise Him and rejoice in Him.
May the Lord grant you peace as you trust Him, knowing that He who did not withhold His own Son but gave Him for us will surely care for you and your son in every need. We pray that He will keep you, guide you, and cause you to rejoice in His goodness.
