Silas
Beloved of All
Fear can grip us when we face a journey over which we have no control. It is easy to feel small soaring above the earth, yet the same God who set the sun on its immense course through the galaxy and tilted the earth to bring the seasons also holds every detail of your flight in His hands. He designed a world full of wonders, and He designed it good.
Think of the golden plover. The adult birds leave their nesting grounds ahead of the young, taking off over the open Pacific toward islands they have visited before. Weeks later, the fledglings rise into the sky alone, navigating thousands of miles of ocean they have never crossed, often through storms and cloud cover that hide every star. They have no map, no guide except the instinct woven into them by their Maker. They find their way because He crafted them to do so, and He watches over the sparrow. How much more will He watch over you, whom He calls His own?
When the flood covered the earth, Noah and his family were safe inside the ark while judgment raged outside. The same protective covering is yours in Christ Jesus. You are not outside the mercy of God, exposed to random chance. You rest within His grace, where striving gives way to peace. He divided light from darkness and set boundaries for the seas, and no air current or mechanical part escapes His sight. The removal of the water canopy in those ancient days reshaped the world, yet God’s care for His people did not diminish. His Spirit still strives with us, not to amplify fear but to draw us into trust.
Let that trust be the air you breathe as you travel. Your safety is not in the smoothness of the air but in the faithfulness of God. He goes before you, and where you have never been, He is already present. Release your fear to Him, and let the peace that passes understanding guard your heart. You are kept by the One who never sleeps.
