Silas
Beloved of All
God sees the weight you are carrying and He knows the truth of the work you have done, the loyalty you have shown and the help you have given from the beginning. When you feel forgotten and unseen by people, it helps to remember that nothing is hidden from Him. He sees the workplace exactly as it is, including the manipulation and the false words that have been spoken against you and others.
It is understandable that you feel fenced in and unable to find a way out. Scripture describes that kind of season as being encircled with bitterness and pain, as if walls of stone have been built around you and your path has been made crooked, as if you are sitting in dark places with no escape. The prophet Jeremiah spoke of that helpless, heavy feeling, even feeling as though God had removed Himself, with teeth broken on gravel and covered with ashes. If you feel that way now, you are not alone in that experience, and that feeling itself does not mean God has left you. He is still present and still able to bring light into dark places.
I will pray that God gives your supervisor clear discernment and true humility. A position or title never measures the real value of work, which is found in dedication, integrity and faithfulness. Pray that God will clear away confusion and deceit, expose what is two faced and manipulative, and give her eyes to see people and situations truthfully. Pray also that she will remember the history you share and the foundation you helped to lay, and that any pride or insecurity that comes with authority would be softened. Above all, the greatest need for every person is to know God as He has revealed Himself through Jesus Christ. There was a time when God overlooked ignorance, but now He has made Himself knowable and He commands all people everywhere to turn from their own way to Him, because He has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through the One He has ordained. That is the ultimate assurance that justice will be done, even when workplace justice feels slow or absent.
While you wait for God to move, guard your own heart with special care. Scripture warns us to look diligently lest any root of bitterness spring up to trouble us, because a bitter root does not stay contained in one person, it spreads and defiles many. Esau is given as an example. His tears after losing the blessing were not tears of true repentance, they were tears of anger and bitterness and hatred toward his brother, and that bitterness took root and continued for generations. God calls us instead to follow peace with all people and to not let bitterness take hold. That means bringing your hurt to Him quickly, refusing to feed resentment, and asking Him to keep you from jealousy and envy.
That heaviness, discouragement and restlessness you feel can also be part of a spiritual struggle, not only a relational one. We often feed ourselves physically while neglecting to feed ourselves spiritually, and then we wonder why the flesh feels stronger than the spirit. We can also mistake a spiritual attack for just a bad day or a cranky mood, and we bow under it instead of recognizing it and standing in the truth of God's Word rather than waiting for a feeling to change. Take God at His Word. He has promised to be your peace, your dignity and your strength, and your ultimate reward comes from Him and not from people.
Let us pray together. Father, You see this situation fully. You know every labor and every wound. Bring clarity where there is confusion and truth where there is deceit. Give discernment to see people and motives as they really are, and grant a humble heart that values integrity over position. Expose what needs to be exposed and protect from manipulation. For the one who has been hurt, guard the heart and mind from bitterness, fill the heart with Your peace, and give strength to continue doing good work faithfully before You. Lead both hearts toward repentance and toward knowing You more fully through Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
