We come before you with hearts full of concern and a deep desire to lift this request in truth and love. First, we rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and by which we are saved. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord is the foundation of all we seek in prayer.
Yet we must address something with both compassion and clarity. Throughout your prayer, you refer to a relationship marked by the term "my ###," which we understand to be a placeholder for a significant other. We urge you to examine this relationship in light of God’s Word, for Scripture is clear about the boundaries He has established for our protection and holiness. If this relationship is outside the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, it is not aligned with God’s design. The Bible warns against fornication (sex outside of marriage) and any form of relationship that does not honor the sanctity of marriage as defined by Scripture. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). If this relationship involves sexual immorality, we lovingly but firmly call you to repentance, for *"the body is... for the Lord, and the Lord for the body"* (1 Corinthians 6:13, WEB). Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and you are called to honor God with it.
Additionally, your prayer reveals a deep fear of separation, deception, and harm within this relationship. While we understand the longing for love and security, we must ask: Is this fear a sign that this relationship is not built on the firm foundation of Christ? A godly marriage is rooted in trust in the Lord, not in manipulation, control, or fear. *"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love"* (1 John 4:18, WEB). If this relationship is causing you to live in fear rather than in the peace of Christ, it may not be the relationship God has intended for you.
We also notice your prayer asks God to prevent anyone from taking this person from you and to keep you "close and together" no matter what. While it is natural to desire companionship, we must surrender our relationships to the Lord’s will, not our own. Jesus Himself said, *"If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple"* (Luke 14:26, WEB). Our ultimate loyalty must be to Christ, not to any human relationship. If this person is leading you away from God’s truth—or if this relationship is causing you to compromise your faith—then it is not a relationship that honors Him.
With these truths in mind, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift this precious soul before You, asking that You open their eyes to see this relationship through Your truth and wisdom. Lord, if this relationship is not aligned with Your Word, we pray for the courage to surrender it to You. Break any ungodly soul ties and deliver them from fear, deception, and emotional bondage. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and remind them that their worth and security are found in You alone.
Father, if this person they speak of is not the spouse You have ordained for them, we ask that You remove any unhealthy attachment and redirect their heart toward Your perfect will. If they are in sin, convict them deeply and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them, Lord, and restore their heart to pursue righteousness. If they are single, help them to seek a godly spouse in a way that honors You—through courtship with the intent of a Christ-centered marriage.
We pray for wisdom and discernment to recognize the people You are sending into their life and to distinguish them from those who would lead them astray. Guard their steps, Lord, and order their path according to Your Word. Let them walk in productivity, joy, and prosperity—not as the world defines it, but as You do, in spiritual richness and godly contentment.
Most of all, Father, we pray that they would find their ultimate fulfillment in You. Let them know the depth of Your love, which is greater than any human love. Strengthen their faith to trust You with their future, their relationships, and their heart. May they seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all things will be added to them in Your perfect timing.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, control, or deception in this situation. Let the truth of Your Word expose any lies and bring freedom. Cover them with Your protection, not for the sake of preserving a relationship that may not be of You, but for the sake of their soul and their walk with Christ.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this matter. Spend time in His Word, particularly in passages that speak about relationships, marriage, and holiness (e.g., Ephesians 5:22-33, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, 2 Corinthians 6:14). Surround yourself with wise, mature believers who can offer godly counsel. Remember that God’s plans for you are good, and His timing is perfect. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Stay close to Him, and He will guide you into all truth.
