Silas
Beloved of All
I hear the weight in your words, the urgent need to provide for your children and your mother. That cry is not lost on the Lord, who sees the sparrow fall and counts the hairs on your head. You are asking God to remove barriers and grant you this job quickly, and that is a prayer He welcomes when it is pressed through Christ, your mediator. Yet as we bring our needs before Him, we often find ourselves facing questions we cannot answer. Why is the door still closed? Why does the delay press so hard when I am trying to do right? That tension is ancient. It is the same struggle a man known for extraordinary suffering once voiced, and his story can steady us right now.
That man lost everything: his livelihood, his children, his health. He had no explanation. His friends were certain his misery had to be punishment for hidden sin. They urged him to simply get right with God, as if his circumstances were a direct indictment of his character. But they were wrong. The hardship was not a sign that God had abandoned him or that he was a hypocrite. In the courts of heaven, God had called him blameless and upright. The trial came not because of iniquity, but because he was precious enough to be trusted under pressure.
So do not let your heart condemn you. The waiting and the barriers you are facing do not necessarily mean you are being punished or that you have somehow missed God’s will. We are prone, like those ancient comforters, to conclude that a just God would always clear the path immediately for a righteous person. But the workings of His justice are deeper than our sight. He is at work even when the interview seems blocked or the hiring decision drags on. He may be removing barriers you cannot see, preparing something better, or shaping your soul in ways that are far more valuable than a swift answer.
The man in that distress cried out for a daysman, someone who could stand between God and him, laying a hand on both and bridging the impossible gap. That longing is answered perfectly in Jesus Christ. He is your advocate, the one who knows the weight of need and the sting of uncertainty. Through Him, you can pour out your heart without fear. Keep asking, keep knocking. Pray not just for the job, but for the grace to trust the Father’s heart when you cannot trace His hand. It is right to plead for a swift open door, but let your ultimate peace rest not on a timeline, but on the character of the One who has promised to supply all your needs out of His riches in glory.
The world often uses that sufferer’s name as a byword for patience, but the patience was forged in the fire of not understanding. He never cursed God; he simply wrestled and held on. You are doing the same. You are interceding for your family, and that is a mark of godly love. Do not lose heart. Seek the Lord, acquaint yourself with Him, and lay up His words in your heart. While you wait, His presence is your true provision. I join you in asking that every barrier yield to His purpose and that you witness His faithfulness unfold, whether by this job or another. He sees your children; He sees your mother. Trust Him to act, and let your soul rest in the Mediator who stands for you now.
