Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer request reveals a deep frustration, one I understand well. It is painful to feel that those who are supposed to help you are actually undermining you, treating your hard-earned experience as if it counts for nothing. When someone tries to push you into a role far beneath your skill simply to close a case, it is not just unprofessional; it feels like an insult to your very person. That kind of treatment can make you cry out, as an old saint once did, "How have you helped him that is without power? How can you save me with an arm that has no strength?" Their counsel feels empty, like a physician who has no medicine.
The ancient story of a suffering man reminds us of something vital here. He had friends who came with quick explanations and shallow advice. They were convinced his trouble proved some hidden fault, so their words became accusations rather than comfort. He finally called them "miserable comforters" because they only added weight to his grief rather than lifting it. Your situation is different in detail, but the heartache is similar. You are not being accused of secret sin, but your abilities are being ignored, and you are being treated as a problem to be solved cheaply. That stings in the same place. Your worth has been dismissed.
Yet notice what that man did in his turmoil. He did not let the foolishness of others drive him to curse God or to abandon his integrity. He kept bringing his complaint honestly before the Lord, even when he had no answers. He cried out for someone who could truly bridge the gap, a mediator who could lay a hand on both God and man. We now know that mediator is Christ Jesus, who understands our struggles and presents our needs with perfect wisdom. Even when a morning meeting feels like a room full of Bildads and Zophars, the throne of grace remains open to you.
So here is what I am praying for you, and I invite you to make this your own request. I am not simply praying you get any job through today’s coaching session. I am praying that God would overrule the laziness and shortsightedness of others. Even when human helpers fail to do their duty, God is not limited by their unprofessional conduct. I am asking Him to open a door that fits the expertise He has given you, a place where your skills are needed and honored. I am praying that the very session meant to push you down becomes, in God’s hidden providence, the unlikely avenue for the right connection. The God who brags on His faithful servants has not forgotten you. Trust Him to act, not because the coaches are competent, but because He is. Cry out to Him, and let your expectation be from the Lord alone.
