The Shepherd's Voice -- Leading, Wisdom, Guidance & Peace of The Holy Spirit, Jn 10:27, Rom 8:14, Col 1:9, Jam 1:5, Heb 11:6, Isa 55:12, Phil 4:6-7...

Jesus, thank You for Your 33 years down here from the manger to humbling Yourself to get baptized by the prominent historical figure, JOHN THE BAPTIST, followed especially by the action-packed 3+ years of ministry: teachings, miracles, loaves, fish, nets of fish, resurrections, blind eyes, lame walking, poor hearing the gospel -- the prophecies, living in community with the disciples just "doing life" from Your perspective (reality), putting up with our unbelief, the distortions of the Pharisees and Sadducees, their constant watching You, attempts to trap and trick You -- literally, like WOW -- and finally Your betrayal, rejection and letting Barabbas loose instead... All the self-restraint You showed, the suffering, unjustly in my and our stead and sacrificial death on the cross for my and our sins, shame, sickness... Your burial, resurrection, appearing and teaching for 40 days, ascension, and sending forth The Holy Spirit, our counselor, advocate, intercessor, and bearer of good gifts, 1 Cor 12:4-8.

Thank You Your sheep hear Your voice, John 10:27, and will never follow a stranger, John 10:5. We NEED to hear Your voice of direction -- It is written, "as many as are LED by the HOLY SPIRIT are the children of God," Rom 8:14. We ask to be FILLED with the knowledge of Your Will in all spiritual wisdom so we can walk worthy, Col 1:9-10. We ask for generous amounts of practical WISDOM, James 1:5, we cry out for wisdom and lift our voice for UNDERSTANDING, Prov 2:6-7. So with confidence we seek YOU for You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You, Heb 11:6. With thanksgiving we offer our requests for Your voice, leading and wisdom -- let "now" the peace of God guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7. Thank You for protecting us and praying for us, keeping us from the evil one, Rom 8:34, Heb 7:25, Jn 17:15. We shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace, Isa 55:12, thank You for everything, especially for hearing when we ask, for in hearing, we have, 1 John 5:14-15, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

We join you in this beautiful thanksgiving and we agree together for the Shepherd's voice to be clear and unmistakable in our lives.

We love how you have rehearsed the whole story of our Savior, from the manger to His baptism by John the Baptist, through His three years of teaching and miracles, the loaves and fish, the nets full, the blind seeing and the lame walking and the poor hearing the good news, His patient endurance with the unbelief of the disciples and the traps of the Pharisees and Sadducees, and then His betrayal and rejection when Barabbas was released instead, His self restraint and unjust suffering in our place, His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins and shame and sickness, His burial and resurrection and forty days of appearing and teaching, His ascension and His sending of the Holy Spirit our Counselor and Advocate and Intercessor who distributes gifts as He wills, as in 1 Corinthians 12:4-8.

We say amen that His sheep hear His voice and follow Him, for Jesus said in John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and in John 10:5 They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him. We need that daily leading and we cling to the promise in Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. What a comfort to know we are not left to wander in our own understanding.

So together we ask to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding that we may walk worthily of the Lord, as in Colossians 1:9-10, and we ask with confidence for wisdom, for James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We cry out for wisdom and lift our voice for understanding, knowing that Proverbs 2:6 says For Yahweh gives wisdom, out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. We come in faith, for Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

We pray together now in Jesus' name.

Father, we thank You for Jesus and for the Holy Spirit whom You have poured out upon us. We ask You to tune our ears to the Shepherd's voice today. Lead us by Your Spirit in every decision, small and great. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will and grant us generous, practical wisdom for the paths before us. Guard our hearts and minds with Your peace as we bring everything to You by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, according to Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Thank You that Christ intercedes for us, as in Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25, and that You keep us from the evil one as Jesus prayed in John 17:15. Cause us to go out with joy and be led out with peace as You promise in Isaiah 55:12. We thank You that when we ask according to Your will You hear us, and if we know You hear us, we have the petitions we have asked, as in 1 John 5:14-15. We receive Your leading, Your wisdom, Your guidance and Your peace now, and we give You all the glory in Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer so honestly. We can hear how much you want to walk closely with Jesus and be sure you are hearing Him clearly.

We love how you described the Holy Spirit as our counselor and advocate who stays with us. In our experience that leading often comes quietly, not as a loud push but as a steady nudge toward what is true and loving, and it lines up with what God has already shown us in Scripture. When power and truth and love stay together, we can trust we are being shaped to be more like Christ, not just getting an answer.

One simple way we have found helpful when seeking direction is to keep a small, unhurried space to listen. You might set aside a few minutes with no agenda except to be quiet before the Lord with one question on your heart, then notice what brings peace and aligns with His character, and test it with a trusted mature believer who knows you.

Father, we thank You for this heart that seeks You diligently. Fill our friend with clear wisdom for the next step, quiet the noise around them, and guard their heart with Your peace as they follow You. Lead them gently and keep them close to Jesus, in whose name we pray, amen.

There is much to rejoice over in your prayer, for it shows a heart that longs to hear the Shepherd's voice and to be led by the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus has said, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and this is the sure mark of those who are His. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God, and where that leading is sought with a true heart, the Lord does not deny it.

Remember that the infinite God has thoughts of peace towards you, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. His thoughts toward His people are always thoughts of peace, for He is at peace with them through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. He seeks your peace, He creates your peace, He sustains your peace. Even when He is refining you, believe also that His thoughts are peaceable and that He designs your highest good. If your will is brought to delight in God's will, then the sorrow is sucked out of the sorrow by the lips of acquiescence, and you shall know perfect peace.

You have asked to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom, and to receive generous wisdom from Him who gives liberally. This is a prayer He delights to answer, for He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. But take heed how you hear, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The mere letter of the Word alone will kill, but when you put your ear down to the promises of Scripture till you hear God speaking through them to your soul, then it has power which it could not possess otherwise. It is a blessed thing to hear God's voice speaking in it with all the freshness and force as if it were uttered anew. Therefore hear with heed, constantly, attentively, earnestly, for the Word deserves good hearing. It comes from God, it is about your immortal soul, about Him who died for sinners, and it deserves most solemn hearing.

That great peace which you seek, that peace of God which shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, is not a peace that depends upon outward quietness. It can exist when strife rages all around us. It is first a great restfulness of the intellect, and then a restfulness of desire, when the Word is better to you than fine gold. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and conscience being enlightened finds its rest not in itself but in that atoning sacrifice. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest, and to be kept in His keeping, whether duties press or loved ones are far away, is to be safe.

So I pray with you that the Lord will cause you to hear His majestic voice, that commanding and yet tender voice of the Good Shepherd, that you may be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding to walk worthy of Him, that you may be led forth with peace and go out with joy, and that the peace of God may guard your heart. May His Spirit make you feel that the thoughts of the Lord are peace, and may you rejoice at His Word as one that findeth great spoil, trusting Him fully and hearing Him daily, in Jesus' name, Amen.
