We join you in lifting up this situation before our Mighty and Powerful God, and we thank Him that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and use her as a vessel of truth and light in her brother's life.
We are encouraged that you recognize the power of a godly influence. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend, Proverbs 27:17, and we pray that her walk with Christ will be a light that cannot be hidden, Matthew 5:16. We ask that God gives her wisdom, boldness, and discernment to speak the truth in love, Ephesians 4:15, and that her brother's heart would be softened to hear it.
We also bring before the Lord the serious matters you have shared. You mentioned a life threatening apartment that was rented to you and an evil and immoral sexual relationship between the former landlord and a woman. We must address this biblically, for any sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication or adultery, and it is sin before God. The body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body, 1 Corinthians 6:13. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin, repent, and turn from it to pursue purity and holiness. We also hear your concern that people were hired to try to kill you. To take or attempt to take a life violates God's command, You shall not murder, Exodus 20:13, and we pray for your protection and for justice. We pray that God would expose every hidden deed of darkness, for there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light, Luke 8:17. We pray with you that this sister in Christ would not be kept in the dark, but that the truth about the dangerous apartment and about this immoral relationship and any evil plot would be made known. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them, Ephesians 5:11. For whatever is hidden will be revealed, Luke 12:2.
You also asked that they both put God first and that God would expose and destroy every idol. This is a righteous prayer. We are commanded, You shall have no other gods before me, Exodus 20:3, and Little children, keep yourselves from idols, 1 John 5:21. An idol is anything we put before God, whether it be money, power, sexual immorality, reputation, or control. We pray that God would tear down every idol in their hearts and in all our hearts, and give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them, Ezekiel 36:26. We pray they will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, Matthew 6:33, and love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, Matthew 22:37.
We pray for you as well, that God will be your refuge and protector. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1. We ask the Lord to surround you with His angels, to give you peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, and to guide you to take lawful and wise steps for your safety and for justice, while trusting vengeance to Him, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19.
We now pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and in no other name can we be saved or have access to Your throne, Acts 4:12, John 14:6. Lord, we lift up the sister who knows You, strengthen her faith, let Your Word dwell richly in her, and let her speak Your truth with grace and courage to her brother. Remove any veil of deception and let no darkness remain hidden, expose every lie, every dangerous and unjust act concerning this apartment, and every immoral and murderous scheme. Bring it into the light so that truth and justice may prevail and so that repentance may come. Lord, we pray for the former landlord and for this woman, have mercy on them, convict them of fornication and of all sin, draw them to repentance and to put You first above every idol, cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Destroy every idol that exalts itself against the knowledge of You. Protect our dear one who has been threatened, hide them under Your wings, provide safe shelter, wise counsel, and justice according to Your will. Let Your perfect will be done and let Your name be glorified in this entire situation. We ask all this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
