The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join with you in bringing this heavy situation before our Mighty and Powerful God, and we thank Him for the faithful sister who knows Jesus and shines His light in a dark place.

We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and speak through her as a vessel of truth and grace. The word says in Matthew 5:16, Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. We ask that her light would not be hidden or dimmed, but that God would give her boldness, wisdom and discernment, and that her godly influence would be used to convict and draw her brother toward repentance. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend, Proverbs 27:17, and we pray her faithful witness would lead him to examine his ways.

We also bring before the Lord the serious wrongs you have described. To knowingly rent a life-threatening dwelling to another person is not love for neighbor, and we are commanded in Leviticus 19:18 to love your neighbor as yourself. We rebuke any deceit or negligence that would put your life in danger. We also must address the sexual immorality you mentioned, for any sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication or adultery and is sin before God. We are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality, and in Ephesians 5:11 to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. We pray that the former landlord would turn from this sin and from any other idols that have taken God's rightful place in his heart, for Exodus 20:3 says, You shall have no other gods before me. We pray with you that our God would expose and destroy every idol, for Luke 8:17 reminds us, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

We agree with you in praying that this sister is not kept in the dark. We ask the Father to bring the whole truth into the light in His perfect timing and way, and that no scheme or deception would remain hidden. We also lift up your concern about those who may have tried to harm you. If your life has been threatened, we encourage you to seek protection through the proper authorities as God has established them for justice, while also trusting the Lord as your refuge. Psalm 91:1 says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We pray for your safety, for peace that surpasses understanding, and for justice according to God's will. Romans 12:19 teaches us, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, so we release any need for personal revenge and trust Him to act righteously, and we pray that all who have done evil would be brought to repentance and to account.

We pray together now, Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him we have access to Your throne. We lift up this sister to You, strengthen her faith, guard her heart, and let Your word speak powerfully through her. Use her to call her brother to put You first in all things. Convict him of any sin, any dishonesty, any idolatry and any sexual immorality, and grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Expose every hidden thing and every idol and tear them down, that You alone would be glorified. Protect our dear one who has been harmed and frightened, surround them with Your angels, heal their heart from fear and trauma, and lead them in Your perfect peace and provision. Help all involved to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, Matthew 6:33, knowing that You will add all that is needed. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, our only Savior, amen.

We hear how much weight you have been carrying with this housing situation, and how unsettling it has felt to wonder what was kept hidden and whether you are safe. It makes sense you would be praying for truth to come to light and for God to be put first in all of this.

We join you in praying for the sister. We thank God for her faith and we are asking Him to keep strengthening her walk with Him, so her steady life and quiet influence can continue to be a good witness in her family. God often works through that kind of faithful presence over time.

It is a heavy burden to feel you must make sure everything is exposed and dealt with. We can trust God to bring what needs to be seen into the light in His way and timing, while we stay faithful in prayer and wisdom.

One thing that may help is not carrying this alone. If you have a trusted pastor or counselor nearby who knows your situation, consider sharing your concerns with them in person. They can pray with you regularly and help you think through practical next steps for your peace of mind and housing stability.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to keep her close to You and give her wisdom. We lift our friend who wrote, asking for Your protection, Your peace, and clear direction. Help both the brother and sister to seek You first above all else, and turn from anything that takes Your place. Give our friend rest and trusted support around them. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to our Mighty and Powerful God who alone is able to save and to deliver.

We pray first for the sister who knows the Lord Jesus, that grace may be multiplied to her and that the Lord will continue to speak through her as a faithful witness. May she walk in wisdom and in courage, speaking the truth in love, and may the Lord give her clear eyes to see what is hidden and a clear voice to declare what is right. We ask that no darkness shall cover what ought to be brought to light, and that whatever has been kept concealed concerning that apartment and the dangers you endured may be exposed in God's perfect timing, for the Lord brings to light the hidden things and will not suffer deceit to remain forever.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God who sees the sickness of the soul which is far worse than disease of body would grant recovery even to one who seems to be going down to the Pit. There is a ransom found, blessed be His name, and God has given commandment to save, saying, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. We ask that the Lord would deliver him from the power of darkness and translate him into the kingdom of His dear Son, that he would be saved from sin and from the dominion of sin, not merely kept from some conspicuous fault but washed and cleansed and made to love the ways of God. We do not ask God to bless any union or practice which stands against His holy ordinance, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and the gift of intimacy belongs within it alone. Where there has been immorality we pray for deep conviction, for repentance and for a turning to purity and holiness, that every idol may be exposed and destroyed and that God alone may be put first upon the throne of the heart.

Concerning the grave evils you have suffered and the fears you have expressed, we take your affliction to the Lord who chastens and who also delivers. The believer can say, The Lord has chastened me sorely but He has not given me over to death, and again, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Your afflictions may have come distinctly from man as the result of malice, and yet they may come with even greater certainty from the Lord as the necessary outcome of His special love to you, to wean you from Egypt and to make you fly back to your ark. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes and look to the Father's hand, for there is not a more profitable instrument in all God's house than the rod, and the consolation which comes through it is sweet indeed. We pray for your preservation, that the Lord who grants protection to the persecuted and provides escape from the most perilous exposure would keep you, vindicate what is true, and bring justice according to His righteousness. If any have sought your harm, we leave vengeance to Him who judges righteously, and we pray that every scheme of darkness would be brought to confusion.

We ask that both this man and his sister, and yourself, may put God first in all things, that no good thing would be withheld from those who walk uprightly, and that after this chastening you may be restored to declare the works of the Lord with a grateful heart, giving testimony that He has delivered your soul from going into the Pit and your life now sees the light. May the blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, which cleanses from all sin, be your confidence, and may He who has found a ransom be your peace.

We commend you to Him who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in working, trusting that He will do what is holy and what is best.
