The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in lifting up this heavy burden before the Lord and we thank God that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will strengthen her walk and continue to speak through her as a vessel of truth and light in her brother's life, and that her godly influence would not be hindered.

We are reminded that nothing hidden escapes the eyes of God. For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17 and For there is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account. Hebrews 4:13. We pray with you that no darkness would remain and that the truth about the life threatening condition of the apartment would be fully brought into the light. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. Ephesians 5:11. If there has been deception or wrongdoing, we ask God to expose it righteously so that repentance and justice can take place, and we encourage you to also entrust matters of physical safety and any threats to life to the proper authorities whom God has ordained for protection, while we continue to seek the Lord for His covering. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship outside of marriage. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman, and any sexual relationship outside of that covenant is fornication or adultery. Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of any sexual immorality, that they would repent and turn from it, and pursue purity and holiness before God. If there is truth to the grave accusation that people were hired to try to harm you, we pray that God would expose that evil, prevent any further harm, bring it to justice, and lead all involved to repentance, for God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

We also join you in praying that every idol would be exposed and destroyed. You shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3 and Little children, keep yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21. Whether the idols are money, property, power, lust, or self, we ask our Mighty and Powerful God to tear them down and to draw both the brother and sister to put Him first in all things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33. We pray that they would both surrender fully to Christ and that the brother would be transformed by the renewing of his mind and by the witness of his sister.

We must remember also to guard our own hearts from bitterness or a desire for revenge even when we have been deeply wronged. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. We pray that the Lord would give you peace, protection, and a forgiving heart while still upholding truth and justice.

Father in heaven, we lift up this sister in Christ to You, ask that You anoint her words and life to speak Your truth with grace and boldness to her brother, and that You would not allow her to be kept in the dark but would reveal what needs to be known for righteousness to prevail. We lift up the former landlord, ask that You convict him of any sin, including sexual immorality and any deceit regarding the apartment, and that You would lead him to repentance and to put You first. We ask that You expose and destroy every idol in their lives and in this situation, that You protect our dear one who has been threatened, that You expose every evil plan and render it powerless, and that Your justice and mercy would be made manifest. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only access to the Father, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, living with fear about your housing and feeling that others meant you harm. It makes sense you would want truth to come out and for people around your former landlord to know what you experienced. We are praying with you about that.

We are also praying for his sister, that the Lord will keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and clarity as she loves both you and her brother well. We ask God to keep you safe and to give you peace as you move forward from that apartment, and to help both of them seek Him first above anything else that competes for their hearts.

Father, we lift this whole situation to You in Jesus name. Cover our friend with Your protection and peace, guide the sister with discernment, work in the landlord's heart according to Your will, and bring what is hidden into Your light in Your way and timing. We lift your burden before the throne of grace and join you in prayer to our Mighty God who alone is able to deliver from the pit and to translate from the power of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son.

We pray for the former landlord's sister who confesses faith in Jesus Christ. We thank God for her witness and ask that the Lord will continue to teach her and speak through her with wisdom, grace and truth, and that she may declare the wondrous works of the Lord from a life taught by Him. May she walk in holiness and courage, speaking what is true in love and with a spirit of gentleness.

We pray for the former landlord, that God who has found a ransom would deliver him from going down to the pit. Where sin has fettered and bound, may infinite mercy snap the bands. We ask that the Lord would grant him repentance and faith in Christ alone for salvation, that he would put God first above every other claim, and that every idol that has taken the place of Christ in his heart would be exposed and destroyed by the light of the gospel. We pray that what has been hidden concerning the apartment entrusted to you, which you describe as life threatening, would be brought into the light in a lawful and truthful way, not through strife but through honest dealing, so that justice may be done and further harm prevented.

Concerning the woman you mention and the sexual relationship outside of marriage, we do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and all intimacy belongs within it. We pray instead that God would bring conviction of sin, godly sorrow that works repentance, and cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ which alone cleanses from all sin. May all involved be delivered from the power of darkness and from evil company, and may they seek holiness rather than the way of the flesh. If there has been malice or intent to harm you, as you fear, we ask the Lord to restrain evil, to protect your life, and to expose every wicked scheme. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and we pray that truth would be made known and that lawful authorities would act with justice, while we ourselves overcome evil with good and leave our cause in the hands of Him who judges righteously.

We pray for you who have suffered. The Lord chastens those He loves, and every affliction lies within the fence of His omnipotent overruling. He has chastened sorely but He has not given over to death. May you be kept from the archers that would beset you, and may you be able to say with the Psalmist, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. May the Lord deliver you from fear, from the power of sin and from the assaults of the evil one, and keep you in perfect peace as you put God first and trust in the ransom He has provided.

We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Christ is worthy, who has delivered us by His own right hand. May the Lord grant to each of you repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ, and may He be enthroned above every idol. Amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before God, asking for His mercy, His truth, and His protection to be made known.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will strengthen her in that faith, keep her rooted in His word, and give her courage and wisdom to speak what is true and good. We ask that God continues to work through her as a faithful witness, that her life would reflect Christ clearly, and that her influence would be used by God to call others toward repentance and holiness.

We pray for her brother, the former landlord, that God would draw him to put Christ first, to turn from every sin and every idol, and to seek the Lord with a sincere heart. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design for marriage and purity, for sex belongs within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Instead we pray that where there has been sexual immorality, God would bring deep conviction, repentance, and a desire for holiness, and that both he and the woman involved would turn to Jesus for forgiveness and new life, which is found in Him alone.

We pray also concerning the apartment you describe and the grave danger you have experienced. We ask that what has been hidden would be brought into the light, that the sister would not be kept in the dark about the true condition of the dwelling and about the wrongdoing connected to it, and that all deception would be exposed. We pray for your safety, that the Lord who does not allow even the powers of evil to act without His permission would guard you, frustrate every plan to harm you, and establish justice. If there are threats against your life, we encourage you also to seek help from the proper authorities for protection and for a lawful accounting of what has happened.

We join you in praying that every idol would be exposed and destroyed, whether it be love of money, power, pleasure, or self. As Scripture teaches, idols of wood and stone have no true power to help or to harm, and the demons rejoice in destruction but can do nothing apart from God. We pray that God would cut off every false ground for boasting, show the emptiness of all idols, and turn hearts to worship Him alone.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone we have salvation. We thank You for the faith You have given to this sister and ask You to keep her strong, truthful, and bold in love. Reveal what needs to be revealed, protect the one who has been harmed and frightened, and bring conviction and repentance where there has been sin. Expose every idol and tear down what exalts itself against You, so that You alone are put first. Let truth prevail, let justice be done, and let all involved find mercy and transformation in Christ. Guard this dear one with Your mighty hand and give peace to a troubled heart. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
