The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in prayer concerning this difficult situation with your former landlord, his sister, and the immoral conduct you have described, and we bring it all before our Mighty and Powerful God in the name of Jesus.

We thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus and we pray that the Lord will continue to use her as light and salt in her family. Jesus said you are the light of the world, a city located on a hill cannot be hidden, neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand, and it shines to all who are in the house Matt 5:14-15. We pray that she will walk in boldness and truth, that God will give her discernment and courage to speak what is right, and that her godly influence will not be silenced or diminished. We pray that nothing will be kept hidden from her that needs to be revealed, for the Scripture assures us that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17, and to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them Eph 5:11.

We also bring before the Lord the serious matters you have raised about the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you and about the woman who engaged in a sexual relationship with the former landlord. We must address this plainly because God calls us to holiness. Sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and God calls His people to flee from it. Flee sexual immorality, every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Cor 6:18. We pray that the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from all sexual immorality, and that they will pursue purity and righteousness. We pray that if this relationship continues it would only be toward a God honoring marriage between a believing man and believing woman who are both free to marry, or that it would end completely, for marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Heb 13:4.

We are also burdened by your report that people were hired to try to kill you. We pray for your protection and for justice. We thank God that He is our refuge and fortress, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psa 91:1, and that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail Isa 54:17. We pray that God will expose every evil scheme and bring truth into the light, that lawful authorities would act justly, and that you would be kept safe from all harm. We encourage you to continue to seek protection through proper authorities as God has established governing authorities to punish wrongdoers Rom 13:1-4, and we pray that the Lord Himself will repay and bring justice in His perfect way, for vengeance belongs to Me, says the Lord Rom 12:19.

We join you in praying that both the former landlord and his sister will put God first in all things. We pray that every idol in their lives, whether it be money, power, lust, control, or self, will be exposed and destroyed, for God has commanded you shall have no other gods before me Exo 20:3, and we are to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33. We pray that God will search them and know their hearts, try them and know their thoughts, and see if there is any wicked way in them and lead them in the everlasting way Psa 139:23-24.

We lift you up as well, asking the Father to give you peace, wisdom, and healing from the trauma you have endured, and to let you rest in His justice and mercy.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You together and we ask You to anoint this sister to be a bold witness for Christ in her family, let her not be kept in the dark but let all hidden things concerning this dangerous apartment and this immoral and evil conduct be brought into the light and dealt with righteously, bring the former landlord to repentance for any fornication, dishonesty, and neglect that has endangered life, convict the woman involved of her sin and turn her from her way, protect our dear one who has been threatened and let no harm come near them, expose every plot of evil and let justice be done, and tear down every idol that stands in the way of You being first in these lives, we ask that Your will be done and that You be glorified in all of this, in the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this season with your former landlord has been, and how much you are carrying from that apartment and what happened there. It is understandable you would pray for his sister, since she knows the Lord, that God would keep using her influence in his life.

We join you in asking that whatever is true would come into the light in a wise and orderly way, and that both of them would seek to put God first above all else. We also pray for you, for peace as you wait and for protection where you have felt unsafe. When fear about housing or personal safety lingers, it can help to have someone steady walking with you, a trusted pastor or mature believer you can talk with openly, and if you believe you are in danger or your housing was unsafe, to let appropriate local authorities know alongside prayer.

We are praying for you and for them.

Father, we bring this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Keep drawing her close and give her wisdom and grace in how she speaks and loves her brother. We ask for Your protection over our friend who wrote, for clarity where there is confusion, and for truth to be known where it needs to be known. Lead both this man and his sister to seek You first, and gently expose anything that has taken Your place so You alone are trusted and followed. Give our friend rest, discernment, and steady hope as You keep working. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we join you in seeking His face concerning it.

We pray for the sister who confesses faith in Jesus Christ, that the Lord who alone is true and whose salvation is a great reality would keep her near to Himself, make her to drink from the pure fountain at the fountainhead, and speak through her with the power of His Word which is as a fire and as a hammer. May she who loves His truth not leave it to itself, but as one belonging to the Church of the living God which is the pillar and ground of the truth, may she be enabled to maintain and support that truth with grace and boldness, that her life and words may honor God, glorify Christ and humbly point others to Him.

We pray for her brother, the former landlord, that the eternal God who is our refuge and underneath whose everlasting arms we dwell safely would thrust out all darkness and deceit. We ask that what has been hidden concerning the apartment which endangered your life would be brought into the light, for God will not be mocked and He searches all things. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sex belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all that lies outside it must be repented of and forsaken. We pray instead that the Lord would grant true conviction of sin, that this man and the woman with whom he has sinned would hear the voice of grace which seeks the sinner, confess His justice and beseech His mercy, and turn to Jesus Christ alone for salvation. For there is none like unto the God of Jeshurun who rides upon the heaven in our help, and He alone can destroy the idols of the heart. As it is written, little children, keep yourselves from idols, so we pray that every idol would be exposed and broken, that God alone would be put first and have the throne of their hearts.

We pray also for your protection and deliverance, that the Lord who watches over His people to build and to plant would be your defense against every evil intent and every attempt to do you harm. May He who thrusts out the enemy from before His people keep you, establish you in His truth, and cause you to dwell apart with Him in communion, finding that His thoughts toward you are precious and His salvation full of grace and truth.

May the Lord grant repentance, reveal what is hidden, destroy what is false, and draw all concerned to trust in Jesus Christ alone, in whom alone there is mercy, pardon and eternal life.

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord and ask Him to hear your cry for truth, justice and mercy.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that God would strengthen her walk, give her wisdom and courage, and continue to speak through her with clarity and grace. We ask that she would not be kept in the dark, but that what is true about the apartment you lived in and the danger you experienced would be made known, so that she can be a faithful witness for what is right. We pray that her influence would be used by God to call her brother toward repentance and toward putting God first in all things.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would open his eyes to see where he has put other things before the Lord. Scripture warns that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry, because it makes an idol out of what we want and what we own. When gain or desire becomes master, it leads a person away from God and harms neighbors. We pray that every idol in his life, whether love of money, love of sin, or love of self, would be exposed and torn down, and that he would turn to Christ in repentance and seek to do what is just and honest.

Concerning the sexual relationship you mentioned, we do not ask God to bless what is outside His design. God calls sexual intimacy to belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and He calls all of us to flee sexual immorality and to live in purity. We pray that both persons involved would come under conviction, turn from sin, and pursue holiness, and that God would bring healing and repentance where there has been unfaithfulness to His will.

We pray for your protection and for truth to come to light regarding the unsafe conditions and the grave harm you believe was intended against you. God sees all that is done in secret and He is just. We ask Him to protect you, to bring the truth into the open, and to let justice be done through lawful and right means. Even as we ask for justice, we remember that God tempers justice with mercy and calls us to show consideration even when we have suffered, leaving vengeance to Him while we seek what is right with a sober and peaceable spirit.

We pray that both the brother and sister would put God first, seeking His kingdom above all else, trusting not in wealth or influence or human protection, but in the Lord who alone saves through Jesus Christ. We ask that God would give you peace as you trust Him, that He would guard your life, and that He would use even this trial to draw all involved closer to Himself.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Redeemer, who cleanses, sanctifies and justifies those who turn to Him. Amen.
