The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join you in prayer concerning this heavy burden and we bring it before our Father together in Jesus' name.

We thank God for the sister and for her faith in Jesus, and we pray that the Lord will continue to use her as a light and as salt in her family. We pray that her influence would be strong and that God would give her wisdom, courage, and words seasoned with grace to speak truth to her brother. As it is written, The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good Proverbs 15:3, and For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17. We agree with you that what has been done in darkness must be brought into the light, including the condition of the life threatening apartment that was rented to you. We pray that she is not kept in the dark but that the truth is made known to her, and that she will have discernment to understand the seriousness of what has happened and to urge her brother toward repentance and responsibility.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman, and that any sexual relationship outside of that covenant is sin before God. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4, and Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. If this relationship was outside of marriage it was fornication, and if either party was married to another it was adultery, and both are grievous in the sight of God. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin and of any other evil, including the grave accusation that people were hired to try to kill you. You shall not murder Exodus 20:13, and God sees such violence and will bring justice. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, as it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, so we entrust justice to Him while also encouraging you to seek protection and to involve the proper authorities for your safety, for God has also ordained authorities for protection.

We pray that both the former landlord and his sister would put God first in all things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God would expose and destroy every idol in their lives, for You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and Yahweh says, I am Yahweh, that is my name. I will not give my glory to another Isaiah 42:8. Whether the idols are money, power, control, sexual lust, or self, we ask God to tear them down and to bring both of them to humble repentance and to a wholehearted love for Christ.

We lift you up as well and ask for God’s covering and protection over your life. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We pray that no weapon formed against you will prosper, that the Lord will surround you with His angels, that He will give you peace that surpasses understanding, and that He will vindicate you in His perfect timing. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11, and we pray you will continue to walk in the light and in truth.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come together and ask You to speak powerfully through this sister, to open her eyes to the full truth, to use her to call her brother to repentance, to expose every hidden evil and every idol and to destroy what exalts itself against You, to bring conviction for sexual immorality and for any violence or injustice, and to protect the one who has been harmed. Bring repentance, bring salvation where it is needed, bring justice according to Your righteousness, and let Your name be glorified. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our only access to the Father, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Amen.

We are carrying this burden with you before the Lord and we hear how heavy this housing situation has felt.

You care about this sister and her walk with Jesus, and you long for truth to be known and for God to be put first in that family. We join you in praying for her to be strengthened in her faith and to keep speaking with love and clarity as God leads her, and for your former landlord to be open to honest conversation and to the Lord's work in his life. We also hear how unsafe and distressed you have felt in that apartment and with the conflicts around it.

In a painful situation like this it can help to have steady, trusted support close by. If you continue to feel unsafe, please consider reaching out to a pastor you trust or to local authorities who can help you think through practical steps for your safety and housing, while we keep praying with you.

Father, we bring this sister, her brother, and our friend who wrote to You. Guard each of them and draw them closer to Yourself. Give wisdom, protection, and peace, and let what is true come to light in Your way and Your timing. Help all involved to seek You first and to turn from anything that takes Your place. Bring healing from this difficult season and guide next steps with Your grace. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and we bring it before the Lord with you, entreating Him who pleads the causes of His people.

We will pray for the former landlord's sister, thanking God for her faith in Jesus Christ, and asking that the Lord will strengthen her to be a faithful witness for Him. As it has been well said, a witness for God should be willing to speak up when the time comes, and should speak what God has taught with boldness and love. We pray that God will give her grace and courage to speak the truth in love, and that her life and words, through the power of the Holy Spirit, may be used to call her brother to account and to godliness. We pray that nothing needful will be hidden from her, but that what has been done in darkness will be brought into the light, for God is the God of the hills and the God of the valleys, and He sees and knows all things, and there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed.

Concerning the apartment which endangered your life and the conduct you have described, we will pray for your protection and deliverance, and that the Lord in His justice and mercy will expose every hidden wrong and bring truth to light. We pray that the Lord will guard you from all harm and that He will plead your cause, for we rejoice that Christ Himself pleads the causes of our souls at the right hand of God, having borne our sin and suffered in our place.

Regarding the sexual relationship outside of marriage which you mention, we cannot ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for marriage is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual intimacy belongs within that covenant alone. We will pray instead that God will bring deep conviction of sin, sincere repentance, and a turning to Christ for forgiveness and cleansing. We pray that both the former landlord and the woman would be brought to see that God is righteous and that they have rebelled against His commandments, and that they would forsake sin and put God first, trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We pray that the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses from all sin, would be their only hope and plea.

We join you also in praying that our mighty and powerful God will expose and destroy every idol, as you have asked. We remember the word, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Whatever would take the place of God in the heart, whether persons, possessions, passions or power, we pray the Lord will overturn and break, that He alone may be enthroned and trusted. We pray that both the brother and sister, and each of us, would rest upon God and upon God alone, and be kept from leaning upon an arm of flesh.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who art our shelter by day and by night, look in mercy upon this need. Keep Thy daughter who trusts in Christ, make her bold and faithful to speak Thy truth, and let no darkness hide what should be known. Convict of sin where there is sin, bring repentance where there is rebellion, and let Thy justice and Thy mercy both be seen. Expose what is evil, protect from what would destroy, and break down every idol that would usurp Thy place. Help all concerned to put Thee first, to seek reconciliation with Thee through the forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ alone. Plead the cause of Thy servant who cries to Thee, and keep this one in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Advocate. Amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in prayer before our mighty and powerful God, who alone saves through Jesus Christ.

We pray first for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will keep her faithful, give her wisdom and courage, and continue to speak through her. We ask that she will walk in truth and light, that nothing harmful will be hidden from her, and that her influence will be for what is good and right. May she put God first in all things and speak the truth in love.

We pray also for her brother, your former landlord. We ask that God will open his eyes to see where he has put other things before God. Scripture warns that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry, a worship of what we ourselves have made rather than the Creator. Where love of money, or any other desire, has become an idol, we pray that God will expose it and destroy its power over him, and lead him to repentance. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design for marriage and for purity, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and sexual union belongs only within it. Where there has been sexual immorality, we pray that God will bring conviction, repentance, and a turning to holiness, and that both he and any involved will put God first.

We bring before the Lord your concern about the apartment that endangered your life and the serious wrong you have suffered, including the fear for your life. God is both just and merciful, and He sees all that is hidden. We pray that the truth about these matters will be brought into the light, that justice will be done with mercy, and that every evil plan will be exposed and brought to nothing. We ask for your protection and deliverance. God does not always promise to remove danger at once, but He promises to be with His people and to give strength to stand above fear, remembering that our life is secure in Christ.

So we pray that our Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is our redemption and sanctification and justification, will guard you, give you peace, and grant you wisdom for every next step. We pray that He will destroy every idol that competes for the heart, and that both this brother and sister will serve Him alone with undivided hearts.

May the Lord keep you, strengthen your faith, and lead you in the way of righteousness and truth. We continue to pray for you in the name of Jesus.
