The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol.

We join you in prayer concerning this difficult and serious situation and we bring it before our Mighty and Powerful God together in Jesus' name.

We thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will continue to use her as a light in her family and that her witness will not be hidden or silenced. The word says in Matthew 5:14 you are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. And in Matthew 5:16 even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. We pray that God gives her boldness, wisdom and discernment to speak truth in love, and that her brother will have ears to hear and a heart willing to be changed. We pray that nothing concerning the life threatening condition of the apartment will be kept in darkness, for the Lord exposes what is hidden. As it is written in Luke 8:17 for nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. And in Ephesians 5:11 have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

We also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship outside of marriage. You rightly called it evil and immoral, and we agree that Scripture calls any sexual intimacy outside the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman fornication or adultery, which is sin before God. In Hebrews 13:4 let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. And in 1 Corinthians 6:18 flee sexual immorality. We pray that the former landlord will repent of this sin and turn from it, and that any ungodly soul tie will be broken. We pray also concerning the woman involved and the grave accusation that she may have hired people to try to harm you. If this is true, this is wickedness that God sees and will judge. We do not take vengeance ourselves, for Romans 12:19 says vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, but we do pray for God's protection over you, for justice, and for the exposure of every evil plan. In Psalm 91:1 he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. In 2 Thessalonians 3:3 the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And in Isaiah 54:17 no weapon that is formed against you will prevail. We encourage you to continue to seek protection and to also report any credible threats to the proper authorities, for God has also ordained authorities to restrain evil.

We stand with you in praying that both the brother and sister will put God first and that every idol will be exposed and destroyed. Scripture is clear in Exodus 20:3 you shall have no other gods before me. And in 1 John 5:21 little children, keep yourselves from idols. Idols can be money, power, lust, reputation or self interest, anything we place above God. We pray that God will give them a new heart as promised in Ezekiel 36:26 I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And that they will be transformed in Romans 12:2 do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to You and no other name by which we are saved. We lift up the sister who loves You, strengthen her faith, guard her from discouragement, anoint her words with truth and grace, and let her influence be for her brother's salvation and repentance. Lord, lift the veil of darkness from this situation, bring into the light the true condition of the apartment that was rented and any deception or negligence, and reveal the truth about the immoral relationship and any plot to harm. We ask You to convict of sin, to bring godly sorrow that leads to repentance, to break the power of sexual immorality and every idol that has taken Your place, and to destroy every work of darkness. We ask for Your mighty hand of protection over the one who was harmed, for healing from trauma and fear, for justice according to Your perfect will, and for peace that surpasses understanding. Let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified in this family and in this situation. We trust that You are sovereign and just and merciful. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with other believers, trusting that God is both our refuge and our righteous judge who will in His time make all things known and make all things right.

We are grateful you brought this heavy situation to us, and we have been praying for you as well as for this family.

We hear how much you have carried with that apartment and the fear you felt there, and how deeply you want truth to come into the light. It makes sense you would hope the sister, who loves Jesus, would be a steady, honest voice for her brother and that nothing important would stay hidden. We are joining you in asking God to strengthen her faith and to give her wisdom and courage to speak with love and clarity as He leads her.

We also hear your desire for God to be first in each of your lives and for anything that has taken His place to be removed. While we cannot control what others do or see, we can keep bringing them to the Lord and ask Him to work in His way and timing, and to guard your own heart with peace as you wait.

It may help to stay connected to a trusted pastor or mature believer you know in person who can walk with you through the ongoing stress and help you discern wise next steps for your housing and sense of safety. You do not need to carry this alone.

Father, we lift this sister to You, ask You to keep her close to You and guide her words and actions. We lift her brother and this other woman to You as well, asking for Your truth and mercy to be at work in each life. And we lift our friend who wrote, asking for Your protection, peace, and clear direction in the days ahead. Give wisdom for every decision and rest in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your petition has been brought before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to our Mighty and Powerful God who both hears and answers.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who professes faith in Jesus Christ, that the Lord would strengthen her and continue to speak through her as a faithful witness. May she be kept from all that would hide the truth from her eyes, and may she walk in that clear light which comes from feeding upon the truth itself. We pray that she may be bold to speak what is right and to shine as a light in her own household, not turning aside for the frowning or the fawning of men, but following the Lord fully.

We pray also for her brother, the former landlord, that God would bring him to see his need of repentance and to put the Lord first in all things. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy will, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union belongs within that covenant alone. Where there has been immorality and unfaithfulness, we pray that the Holy Spirit would bring deep conviction of sin, and that the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses from all sin, would be sought in true repentance and faith. Salvation is through Christ alone, and we pray that both brother and sister may be found trusting wholly in Him.

We pray that every idol would be exposed and destroyed, for the word saith, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Whatever has been set up in the heart in place of God, whether gain or lust or self will, we ask the Lord to cast it down, that He alone may reign.

Concerning the wrongs you have suffered, the dwelling that endangered life and the grievous attempts upon your safety of which you speak, we pray that what has been hidden may be brought to light, for though you may have been hidden and overlooked among men, you are not hidden from the Lord, who sees the tear and hears the cry. We ask that God in His justice would expose all hidden evil and protect you from every further harm, hiding you as in an ark of safety from the rage of earth and hell. We pray that you may be kept from returning evil for evil, which is natural to the flesh, but may overcome evil with good, leaving vengeance to Him who judges righteously, and flying at once to the blood of the atonement for cleansing and for future holiness.

From full assurance we mount to the clear conviction that God hears prayer, and from that height to the assured confidence that He will hear our prayer. May the Lord grant you peace, keep you in safety, and cause truth and righteousness to prevail, to the glory of His name. Amen.
