Song of Solomon 2:14 :
My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

A Prayer Based on Song of Solomon 2:14
Our prayer:
Heavenly Father / Lord Jesus, there are times we feel like a hidden dove, pulling away into the clefts of the rock out of fear, weakness, or uncertainty. Thank You that You are our safe place, and that You do not leave us in the shadows.
Thank You for calling out to us with patience and love, asking to see our face and hear our voice. Forgive us for the times we stay silent, or let doubt convince us that our prayers do not matter to You.
Draw us out into the open light of Your presence. Let us trust Your grace enough to bring you our honest thoughts, our quiet struggles, and our heartfelt praise. Remind our soul that our voice is sweet to You and that we are completely known and deeply loved.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

We join you in this beautiful prayer and we thank God with you that He is our safe place and that He does not leave us in the shadows. We love how you have anchored your prayer in Song 2:14, My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the mountainside, show me your face. Let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

We are encouraged by the tender picture here. The dove hiding in the clefts is not forgotten or overlooked, but lovingly sought after and called out. This is how our Lord deals with us. When we pull away out of fear, weakness or uncertainty, He does not abandon us. He is our rock and our refuge. As it is written, Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge Psalm 18:2 and He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust Psalm 91:1-2. We also rejoice with you in naming Jesus as the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, for Jesus said, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty John 6:35 and In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God John 1:1.

We hear your heart to not stay silent but to trust His grace enough to bring Him every honest thought, quiet struggle and heartfelt praise, and we agree that this is exactly what He invites us to do. We are told to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16. Your voice truly is sweet to Him, not because it is perfect, but because you are His, completely known and deeply loved.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, we thank You that You are our safe place, our cleft in the rock where we can hide and be held. Thank You for not leaving us in the shadows but for calling to us with patience and unfailing love. Forgive us for the times we have stayed silent or believed the lie that our prayers do not matter to You. Draw us out into the open light of Your presence. Give us courage to lift our face to You and to let You hear our voice, bringing You our honest thoughts, our quiet struggles and our heartfelt praise. Remind our souls again and again that we are seen, heard, known and deeply loved, and that because of the blood of Jesus we can come freely into Your presence. Let us rest in Your grace today and live close to You.

In Jesus name, Amen.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer of thanksgiving. The image you shared of the dove tucked into the clefts of the rock is tender and honest. Many of us know that feeling of pulling back when we feel unsure or tired, even while we believe God is our safe place.

What stood out to us is how you noticed God does not leave us in the shadows but gently calls us out. He is not demanding we perform or have perfect words. He simply wants to hear our voice because He already loves us. Knowing our voice is sweet to Him can make it easier to bring the real thoughts, the quiet worries and the small praises, not just the polished prayers.

If that hidden feeling comes again this week, you might try pausing for a moment and speaking to Him out loud just as you are, even a sentence or two. It is a simple way to step into the light of His presence and remember you are known and loved.

Father, thank You for being our safe place and for calling us with such patience. Help us to trust Your kindness enough to lift our voices to You honestly. Draw us closer into Your presence and remind us we are deeply loved in Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer rises with a sweetness which the Lord Himself delights to hear, for you have taken the very words of the Beloved and made them your own. My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely. What a gracious invitation is this, and how kindly you have answered it.

Thankfulness becomes you when you call Him your safe place, for He is indeed our hiding place who preserves us from trouble and compasses us about with songs of deliverance. The clefts of the Rock are none other than Christ Himself, wounded for us, opened that timid doves like ourselves might fly in and be secure. You need not fear the shadows, for He does not leave you there. In love He corrects, in love He caresses, in love He calls you forth into the open light of His presence. Everything that God does to His people is all love, sometimes the love is a little disguised, but the love is always there. If He smiles it is love, if He chastens it is love, for God is love and to His people nothing else but love.

You do well to confess how often fear and weakness and uncertainty make us hide and keep silent, as if our prayers did not matter. Yet hear what love declares, that your voice is sweet to Him. How can this be except that His love was first set upon you. What can your love to God be but a reflection of His love to you, a spark of the eternal flame of His love which can never be quenched. He loved you with an everlasting love before you ever learned to lisp His name, and therefore when you bring Him your honest thoughts, your quiet struggles and your heartfelt praise, He dwells upon it with evident satisfaction.

Be encouraged then to come forth. Do not be afraid of being too open with the Lord, or of pouring out too much of your heart before Him. Bring Him all, for He longs to see your face. The love of your renewed heart towards your God is precious to Him, and He would have it flame forth. Trust His grace enough to speak, though your voice tremble, for He counts it sweet.

May the Lord draw you nearer still, till you know more of Him and know more of that love which passes knowledge, and may you show your love by joying in Him as He joys in you. We join our hearts with yours and pray that He will keep you in the cleft of the Rock, let you hear His voice daily in the Word, and make your voice a continual music in His ear, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
