Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. You have opened the door indeed, and not hardened your heart when Christ knocked. That was a wise and saving choice. For to hear His voice and not resist is the beginning of every blessing. What you received today, that fullness of participation in the communion of His body and blood, is a mystery beyond all price. And to have the heart stirred with gratitude, to recall the one leper who returned while the nine went on their way, this is no small grace. Gratitude is itself a song sung in the depths of the soul, a melody heard in heaven even when the lips make no sound. Did not Moses cry out to God though he said nothing, and the Lord answered, “Why criest thou unto me?” So your thanksgiving, rising from a softened heart, has come before the throne.

Guard this disposition carefully. The enemy would have you carry heaviness and complain, but you turned instead to the remedy of the sermon, the word that gives light. This is to put on the mind of the saints, who know that even in affliction, in all things we are to give thanks, for this is God’s will in Christ Jesus concerning us. Yet do not think that having begun well is enough. Many who saw the wonders in the wilderness perished because they hardened their hearts in the next trial. Keep your heart soft daily by this same gratitude and by the inward hymn of praise. Even in the marketplace, even walking alone, you can sing to God in your heart with grace, and no one hears but He who searches the reins. This is a prayer that no distraction can steal.

Remember too that this grateful heart must be kept pure. For the same Lord who taught us to give thanks also warned that to even look with lust is a form of adultery in the heart. So as you have opened the door to the Word, let that Word sweep clean every chamber of your inner house. What eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor heart of man conceived, God has prepared for those who love Him. For the sake of such promises, endure all things, yes, and give thanks in them, knowing that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed. Let the recollection of hell and the hope of heaven both spur you on, not as a burden but as a medicine that keeps away the disease of sin. So continue to return with your offering of praise, as that single leper returned to the Healer, and you shall find that He adds still greater gifts to a joyful and upright heart.

Your experience this morning resonates deeply because it reflects the very heart of what God is after. When you heard that call not to harden your heart, you did something eternally significant. You opened the door. Scripture warns us repeatedly about the stubbornness of the human heart, and how easily it can grow cold and resistant. But you chose instead to yield. And in that yielding, you discovered again that God meets a tender, responsive heart with blessing and nearness.

What you described about gratitude is not just a passing good idea. It is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. The story of the ten lepers is a piercing reminder that nine can receive the very mercy of God and walk away unmoved, while only one returns with a heart of thanks. That one returned with a whole heart, and Jesus took note. Wholeheartedness is the difference between a surface religion and a living relationship. It is easy to honor God with lips while the heart wanders far from Him. But you tasted the other way: the honest, inward turning that delights in His commandments and seeks Him with your whole being.

The heaviness you felt is not unusual. We all face moments when our hearts could slip toward bitterness or complaint. Yet you recalled a truth that kept you from hardening yourself. That is a work of the Spirit, not merely a good memory. You see, the human heart leans naturally toward what is crooked. Left to itself, it inclines toward covetousness, self-justification, and the love of the world. So when instead the heart is drawn to gratitude and to throwing wide the door to Christ, something deeper is happening. God is at work, keeping that heart from becoming firm in resistance. Pharaoh hardened his heart again and again, and finally God made firm what the man had chosen. But you, by His grace, chose differently. You gave thanks instead of complaining, and you found that the door opened not just to a sermon, but to the presence of the Lord Himself.

This is what it means to have a heart circumcised by God, a heart where the old, fleshly covering is cut away and a new, inward life takes over. No outward ritual can substitute for that. Baptism, communion, attendance, all of it is meant to point to the inner reality of a heart walking after the Spirit. You participated in the bread and wine not as an empty form, but from a place of genuine gratitude for the body and blood of Christ. That pleases the Father. He knows the heart. He considers it. He ponders it. And when He finds a heart not hardened but soft, not complaining but thankful, not halfhearted but whole, He pours out His favor.

So continue to guard that heart with all diligence. Keep returning to the Word, hiding it there so that you might not sin against Him. Let gratitude be your steady confession, because in all things giving thanks is God's will for you. You are indeed highly favored, not as an abstract blessing, but as one called out of darkness into the marvelous light of His Son. And that favor rests on a heart that has learned to say, "I did not harden my heart; I opened the door."
