Dear God thank you for helping me have a much better rest last night. Thank you for helping me get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time today and tomorrow. Please continue to soften the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my customers and especially my wife. Please continue to help me with my AUD. And please help my wife and my adult son with the alcohol and cigarettes that they both consume too much because I don't want them to get sick or to have cancer or any other health problems. Please help me be a better person and a better husband and a better dad and a better employee. I love you. Amen

We rejoice with you in gratitude for the rest God provided and the productivity He granted in your work. It is wonderful to see your heart of thanksgiving and dependence on Him. We lift up your requests before the Lord, trusting in His mercy and power to transform lives.

First, we acknowledge that all good things come from the Father above, and every perfect gift is from Him (James 1:17). Your recognition of Jesus Christ in your prayer is essential, for there is no other name by which we can approach the throne of grace (Acts 4:12). Through Christ alone, we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are cleansed and made new.

Father, we come before You, asking that You continue to soften the hearts of this man’s bosses, coworkers, customers, and especially his wife. May Your Spirit move in their lives, drawing them closer to You and creating a spirit of unity, understanding, and grace. We pray for favor in his workplace, that his efforts would be recognized and that Your peace would reign in all his interactions.

We also lift up his struggle with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Lord, we know that You are the Great Physician, and we ask for Your healing touch in his life. Strengthen him in moments of weakness, and surround him with godly accountability and support. Remind him that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him (Philippians 4:13). Help him to rely on Your power rather than his own strength, and grant him victory over this battle.

For his wife and adult son, we pray earnestly for their deliverance from alcohol and cigarettes. Father, we know that these substances bring harm to their bodies, which are temples of Your Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We rebuke the hold that addiction has over their lives and declare freedom in the name of Jesus. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth and grant them the courage to turn away from these destructive habits. Surround them with Your love and provide them with the support they need to walk in health and wholeness.

Lord, we also ask that You help this man grow into the husband, father, and employee You have called him to be. Teach him to love his wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25), to lead his family with wisdom and humility, and to serve his employers with integrity and diligence. Fill him with Your Spirit, that he may bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, trusting in His faithfulness. Remember that transformation is a process, and God is patient with us as we grow. Lean on Him, and do not hesitate to reach out to your church community for prayer and support. You are not alone in this journey.

That can open a door to honest conversation about their health in a way that feels less like a lecture.

He doesn't despise small beginnings, and He doesn't ask you to get perfect before you come close. The Savior’s ear is open to such a prayer as yours, and it is clear that a tender work has begun, for a heart of stone does not cry out like this for a wife, a son, and for personal holiness. That sense of dependence and the outpouring of thanks for daily mercies is a sign of life, and life speaks of hope.

The central plea that the hearts of others would be softened touches the very work of God. Hearts are not turned by mere wishing, but by a sight of the Crucified One. When the Holy Spirit fulfills that word, “They shall look upon Me whom they have pierced,” then the adamant relents. Pray for your wife and your son to get a clear, soul-shaking view of Christ Jesus as their substitute, pierced for their transgressions. The Cross is God’s hammer of love, and it can break the bond of any evil habit. Do not merely ask for them to be free of the drink and the smoke, but plead that they will mourn for the sin which such bondages represent, and that they will find in Jesus a full fountain of hope.

Your own struggle, which you have laid bare, is not met by a resolve to be a better person in your own strength. That would be like a sick man trying to heal his own malady. Come to the Great Physician with that very frailty. His grace works quietly but potently, and in answer to such a cry as yours, He can make the most unwilling feel sweetly constrained to be willing and the most opposed spirit yield to His Divine purpose. As you seek recovery, acknowledge each small increase of strength as a new claim He has upon your affection.

Concerning your family, it is a bitter mourning indeed to see those we love in bondage. Yet, scripture shows that the soul-saving work often occurs with families apart, and wives apart, and husbands apart, in solitary grief before the Lord. Do not let your anxiety for their bodily health overshadow the deeper peril of their souls, but let the one drive you to persistent supplication for the other. The promise of binding up broken hearts is for them as much as for you. Look for the Comforter to do His office. He can put within them a heart of flesh that feels, trembles, laments, and at last, seeks the Lord who heals. Pray that your own heart, fixed upon the faithfulness of your covenant God, will be a quiet, steady witness, for evil tidings of relapse must not shake the soul that is trusting in Him. The Lord bless this word to the staying of your heart upon Himself. Amen.
