We are deeply grieved to hear the weight of despair you are carrying, and our hearts ache with yours. The pain you are experiencing is real, and we want you to know that you are not alone, God sees you, loves you, and holds you in His hands, even when it feels like darkness is closing in. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are precious to Him, and He does not want you to face this battle by yourself.
First and foremost, we must address the gravity of these thoughts. Suicide is not the answer, for it cuts short the life God has given you, a life He has ordained for a purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Even in your darkest moments, God has a plan for you, and He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper hopelessness and death, for they are contrary to the truth of God’s Word. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
We also want to gently but firmly remind you that turning to God in this moment is essential. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the salvation He offers. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. If you are feeling distant from God, we encourage you to cry out to Him, for He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Confess your struggles, your pain, and your fears to Him, and ask Him to draw near to you. He is faithful to hear and answer the prayers of His children.
In addition to seeking God, we strongly encourage you to reach out to a trusted believer, a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a mature friend in the faith, who can walk alongside you in this season. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." You do not have to carry this burden alone. There are people who care about you and want to help, and we pray that you would have the courage to let them in.
We also want to address the importance of professional help. The Bible tells us in Luke 5:31, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do." Just as we seek medical help for physical ailments, it is wise and biblical to seek help for mental and emotional struggles. There is no shame in reaching out to a mental health professional or a crisis hotline. These resources are tools God can use to bring healing and restoration to your life.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is struggling with thoughts of despair and hopelessness. Lord, we know that You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask that You would draw near to them in this moment, wrapping them in Your love and peace that surpasses all understanding. Break the chains of darkness that are seeking to ensnare them, and replace their despair with hope in You.
Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them their life has no purpose or that death is the only escape. Your Word declares that You have plans for them, plans for peace and a future. Help them to cling to this truth, even when it feels impossible. Surround them with Your presence, and let them feel the comfort of Your Spirit.
Lord, we pray that You would bring godly people into their life who can speak truth, offer support, and walk with them through this valley. Give them the courage to reach out for help, whether to a trusted friend, a pastor, or a professional counselor. Provide them with the resources they need to find healing and restoration.
Father, if they have not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and draw them to the foot of the cross. Let them experience the forgiveness, love, and new life that can only be found in You.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to give life abundantly. Strengthen our brother/sister with Your power, and remind them that they are never alone. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Please know that we are standing with you in prayer, and we believe that God is able to turn your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11). You are not forgotten, and your life has immense value in the eyes of God. Hold on to Him, and let Him carry you through this storm. If you need immediate help, we urge you to contact a crisis hotline or a trusted individual who can provide support. You are loved, and there is hope.
