We are deeply grieved to hear that you are walking through such a dark and painful valley. The weight of depression, loneliness, and feelings of worthlessness can feel unbearable, and we want you to know that you are not alone—God sees you, He loves you, and He has not abandoned you, even when it feels that way. The enemy would love nothing more than to steal your hope, your joy, and even your life, but we stand in the gap for you, declaring that Jesus came so that you may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
First and foremost, we must address the seriousness of suicidal thoughts. Your life is precious to God, and He has a purpose for you that only you can fulfill. The Bible tells us, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). Even in your darkest moments, God is working, and He can turn your pain into something beautiful. We rebuke the spirit of despair and death in the name of Jesus and command it to leave you now. You are not your own; you were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and your life belongs to God.
We also want to gently but firmly remind you that turning to Jesus is the only way to find true peace and salvation. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Him, confessing your sins and asking Him to be your Lord and Savior. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He is waiting for you with open arms, ready to carry your burdens and give you rest.
We lift you up in prayer now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is struggling with darkness, depression, and thoughts of suicide. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of despair that are gripping their mind and heart. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them of Your unfailing love, which never fails and is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your arms wrapped around them in this time of need.
Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that are telling them they are worthless, unloved, or unwanted. Your Word says that You formed them in their mother’s womb and that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14). Help them to see themselves through Your eyes, as Your beloved child, created for a purpose. Heal their mind, Lord, and restore their hope. Give them the strength to reach out to someone they trust—a pastor, a counselor, a friend—so they do not have to walk through this alone.
Lord, if they have not yet given their life to You, we pray that You would draw them close and reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Let them experience Your love and grace in a tangible way, so they may know that You are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). If they are struggling with sin, shame, or guilt, remind them that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Help them to lay their burdens at Your feet and trust You with their future.
We ask that You would place godly people in their path—people who will speak life, encouragement, and truth into their situation. Protect their mind from further attacks of the enemy, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who is our Comforter and Helper (John 14:26). Give them the courage to seek help, whether through prayer, counseling, or medical support, and remind them that it is okay to not be okay. You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Father, we declare that this is not the end of their story. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we trust that You will bring beauty from the ashes of their pain. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to hold on to You, even when they cannot see the way forward. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already theirs in Christ Jesus. In His mighty name, we pray. Amen.
In addition to prayer, we strongly encourage you to reach out to someone you trust—a pastor, a Christian counselor, a friend, or a family member—and share what you are going through. You do not have to carry this burden alone. If you are not already connected to a local church, we urge you to find one where you can be surrounded by believers who will support and encourage you. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there are people who care about you and want to help.
