Stress

We hear your cry of stress and exhaustion and we lift you up together before our Heavenly Father seeking His will for you in Jesus name.

We understand how heavy life can feel when stress builds and strength runs out, but we are reminded that God does not intend for us to carry these burdens alone. He invites us to cast them on Him. As it is written, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 and Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. When our hearts are overwhelmed and our bodies are weary, He promises to be our rest and our rock.

The peace you are asking the Lord to surround you with is a peace that He longs to give you. It is not the fleeting peace the world offers, but the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Jesus Himself said, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. John 14:27. And we are promised, You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3.

We want to gently encourage you to bring every anxious thought to Him in prayer with thanksgiving, as we are taught, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6. This means laying down striving and learning to trust Him daily, to rest in Him, to keep our minds stayed on Him, and to allow Him to renew our strength. Sometimes stress also reveals that we are trying to be strong in our own power rather than depending on His. We encourage you to seek times of quiet rest in His presence, to get needful sleep, to step away from what overwhelms you when you can, and to let God be your refuge.

We notice you prayed to the Lord for peace, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and receive His peace and salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus Christ, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confessing Him as Lord, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9-10. It is through Jesus that we can boldly approach the throne of grace to find mercy and peace in our time of need.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is stressed and exhausted. Lord, You see the weight they are carrying and the weariness in their body and soul. We ask that You surround them with Your perfect peace that passes all understanding and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Teach them to cast every care on You because You care for them. Lead them when their heart is overwhelmed to the rock that is higher than they are. Psalm 61:2. Give them rest, renew their strength, quiet their anxious thoughts, and help them to trust You more deeply each day. Draw them close to Jesus, and if they do not yet know Him as Savior, reveal Yourself to them that they may believe and be saved. We ask for Your healing presence, Your comfort, and Your sustaining grace to uphold them. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace, amen.

Thank you for letting us know how stretched and tired you have been. Feeling stressed and exhausted at the same time can make everything feel heavier, and we are grateful you reached out and asked for prayer for peace.

We have found that stress often builds quietly over time. Long hours, poor sleep, constant worry and carrying too much alone can leave the body and mind worn down even when we want to trust God and keep going. It does not mean you have failed. It often means you need some care and space to recover.

One small step that can help is to name what is weighing on you most right now. If you can, take a few minutes to write down the one or two pressures that feel largest, and share them with one trusted person, a pastor, counselor or friend, so you are not carrying them alone. Paying attention to basic needs like sleep and rest matters too, and if the exhaustion continues it is wise to check in with your doctor alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. You see how tired and stretched they feel. Please draw near and quiet their heart with Your peace, give them rest tonight and wisdom for the days ahead, and surround them with supportive people who can help bear the load. Lead them gently toward what restores and sustains them. Amen.

There is a word from the Lord for the weary and heavy laden, and it is this, Rest in the Lord. The Lord sees your stress and your exhaustion, and He does not despise the cry of a tired heart. He knows that you are pressed and wearied, and He has provided a resting place where Omnipotence and eternal love are sweetly joined together.

Our Saviour says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is a present rest, rest now, not only rest after death or after long probation, but rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. And it is perfect rest, for He does not say I will give you partial rest, but rest, as much as if there were no other form of it. In the blood and righteousness of Jesus our peace is perfect, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and where sin is pardoned through His atonement, the conscience may be quiet even while duties throng around us.

You ask that the Lord would surround you with peace, and the Scripture answers, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. This peace is to be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even amid the hurry and care of this world. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest, and to be sure that what you are doing is what Jesus would have you do is peace. To trust Him, to bring every burden, every care, every trial and every loss, yes and every joy, to the Lord in faith, is the good old way that is the way of peace and rest.

Therefore come now by an act of simple faith and recline upon the promise. Fly as a fluttered dove into the bosom of Jesus, for that is the port of peace where the storm cannot reach you. Wait patiently for Him and fret not yourself, but resign your soul to the peace which the Holy Spirit brings, as one who reclines upon a soft couch provided by Him who says, My child, thou art very weary, rest in the Lord.

Let us pray together. O Lord, Thou art our strength in the time of trouble, bless Thy dear weary child with that peace which passeth all understanding. Give rest of mind and rest of soul, a fixedness of belief and a quietness of heart that comes only from trusting in Christ. Keep the mind stayed upon Thee, and let perfect peace reign within, through the blood of Jesus who is our peace. Cause Thy Spirit to lead this troubled heart into quietness, and so give Thy beloved sleep. In the name of Jesus our rest, Amen.
