Strengthened

Your prayer to be established, strengthened and settled is a prayer God delights to answer. Scripture says that the God of all grace, after you have suffered a while, will himself make you perfect, establish you, strengthen you and settle you. That is His work in you, to bring you to maturity and stability in Christ.

Part of how He does this is through testing and trials. Those difficult seasons are not wasted. They cause your roots to go deeper into Him so that when storms come you can stand steadfast. Through suffering He develops character and maturity. You become established not because circumstances are easy, but because you have learned to trust Him in the midst of them. Like Daniel who purposed in his heart beforehand that he would remain faithful, God wants to bring you to a place where the issue is settled within you.

That settled life must be built on a settled foundation. Forever, O Lord, your word is settled in heaven. God's Word does not shift with culture or feelings. It is permanent and unchanging, and His faithfulness endures to all generations. If faith is built on experiences or emotions it will waver, but if it is built on the fact of what God has said, it will stand firm. When you find your thoughts or desires in conflict with His Word, it is not the Word that needs to change.

Remember also that God has established a new covenant with you through Jesus Christ, not based on your faithfulness but on His. The old covenant rested on man's ability to obey and it failed, but the new covenant rests on better promises and on the blood of Jesus shed for the forgiveness of sins. Because it depends on Him, you can have confidence that He will complete what He has begun.

The Lord Himself is the one who strengthens you and gives you stability. As He was with Solomon and strengthened him, He is with you. He will magnify His strength in your weakness as you look to Him.

We pray for you now that the Lord would establish you in the faith, strengthen you in every good work, and settle you in His peace. May He deepen your roots in Christ, anchor you firmly in His Word, and make your heart steadfast, so that you walk in maturity and quiet confidence before Him, in Jesus' name.
