storms

We stand together in faith, lifting up all those in the path of the storms tonight and tomorrow. The winds may howl, the rains may fall, and the skies may darken, but we know that our God is greater than any storm. He is the One who commands the winds and the waves, and in Him, we find our peace and safety.

We declare the truth of Psalm 107:29-30 over every life and home in the path of these storms: "He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven." Lord, we ask You to still the storms, to calm the winds, and to protect every person, every family, and every community in harm’s way. Let Your hand of mercy cover them, and let Your angels encamp around them for safety.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for those in authority, emergency responders, local leaders, and weather officials, as they guide and protect their communities. Give them clarity, strength, and courage to act in ways that preserve life and property. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

For those who may feel fear or anxiety, we pray that You would replace their fear with Your perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3 assures us, "You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you." Let every heart be steadfast in You, knowing that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and destruction in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on the promise that You are with us always, even in the midst of the storm (Matthew 28:20).

Father, we also lift up those who may not yet know You. In the midst of the storm, let them cry out to You and find You as their Savior and Deliverer. For "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them experience Your saving grace.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who calms the storms and saves our souls. Amen.

We’re praying with you tonight and into tomorrow morning. Storms have a way of making us feel small and unsettled, and we’re grateful you reached out so we can stand with you in this. You aren’t facing the winds alone, we’re petitioning God together for his shelter over you and everyone in harm’s way.

While we wait on the Lord, a little practical caution can go a long way: if you haven’t already, take a quick walk around to bring in or secure anything that wind could toss, and make sure you’ve got flashlights and fresh water handy. Those small moves don’t replace trust, but they give us something steady to do with our hands while our hearts are resting in his care. And know that just as you asked us to pray, you can keep praying yourself, simple, honest cries for safety are the ones he welcomes most.

Lord Jesus, you who stilled the sea with a word, stretch your strong hand over this storm. Guard every home in its path, especially those who are most vulnerable. Calm what needs calming in the weather and in our hearts. Grant deep peace even while the wind howls, and let us rise in the morning to find your faithfulness again. In your name we ask it, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The wind howls and the rain beats against the window, yet remember it was more than a soldier’s protection offered to us, it was the covering of a mother’s wing, love, homeliness, and heart-working kindness spread over the child of God. That promise is not made for stress of weather only, to be hung up and taken down in the tempest; it is for every hour. How many who have escaped out of terrible storms have, nevertheless, died in a calm?

This life is liable to many storms; he that reckons upon a calm from his cradle to his grave reckons amiss. Stout oaks there are that laugh at storms, and lowlier trees that creep upon the ground, all are shaken. Yet our safety lies not in ourselves but in our Savior, the only wise God who is able to keep us from falling. You need an infinite Friend to keep you against all the machinations of adversaries, and in the Man Christ Jesus you have such a hiding place. Because Christ died for us, justice is satisfied, mercy triumphs, and we who shelter in Him shall not die.

Let this be a night for hiding away in Him, and for seeking no other protection. If you never go anywhere but where Christ leads the way, you need not be afraid of storms, for they beat upon Him more than upon you. Get behind Christ by following Him in the path of duty, and you will find shelter from every trouble that can possibly befall you. Even when the dark day comes, be not dismayed; His Church abides, and His covenant of love shall not depart.

Unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. The Lord spread His wings over every trembling soul this evening and in the morning light. Amen.

Storms come upon us suddenly, even as in the days of Noah, when they feasted and married until the flood swept all away. Yet a soul that is made like heaven remains bright and unshaken, not because the clouds do not gather, but because its nature is fixed on God. He is our pasture and safety; none can thrust us out of His shelter. Do not tremble at the roaring winds, for the righteous man stands firm when the gale is fiercest. True peace is found not in the absence of trial, but in a heart set on virtue, where the Lord of the storm makes His dwelling.

Let us then lift our voices together: O Thou who didst still the raging sea and rebuke the winds, stretch forth Thy mighty hand upon all who face this tempest. Keep them unharmed through the night watches and the morning light. Quiet the elements, and more than this, quiet every troubled spirit, that we may abide in the calm of Thy presence. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only safety. Amen.

I am grateful you reached out, and we are joining our hearts with you in prayer for everyone facing this storm tonight and through the morning. Storms have a way of reminding us how little we control, but they also drive us to the One who holds every wind and wave in His hands.

Right now, the most important thing is not just to get through the weather, but to know the God who is with you in it. Prayer is not an empty ritual or a last resort; it is the breath of a relationship. If you have trusted Jesus, you can call on God as your Father. That single word, Father, opens everything. And if that relationship is not yet settled, the prayer He longs to hear from you first is simply, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” Everything else flows from there.

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He gave them a pattern, not a formula to recite mindlessly. Notice how it begins with “Our Father” and then immediately turns to “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” The purpose of prayer is never to bend God around our wishes, but to align our hearts with His purposes, even in a storm. That is not easy to hear in the middle of howling winds, but it is where real peace is found. You may be praying for the storm to pass quickly or for protection over your home, and those are right things to bring to Him. But underneath those requests, ask Him to accomplish whatever He intends in your life and in your heart through this.

Think of the apostle Paul, caught in a vicious storm at sea for days without sun or stars, the crew despairing of life itself. God had not abandoned him. In fact, God was deliberately taking him through the storm toward an island where He had work for Paul to do. Sometimes the storm is the path, not a detour. The Lord stood near Paul and reassured him, and He is near to you as well.

So pray, and keep praying. Not to persuade a reluctant God, but because prayer opens the door for Him to do what He has been wanting to do all along, without violating your will. Do not wait until fear has exhausted every other option; make prayer your first resort. And then, having prayed, act with wisdom. Secure what needs securing, move to safety if you must. Prayer is never an excuse to neglect responsible action, it precedes it, like Nehemiah who prayed and also set a watch against the enemy.

The length of your words does not matter. A cry from the heart, even unspoken, reaches His ear. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person, one made righteous through Christ, accomplishes much. Persist in it. Even now, you are not alone; the body of Christ is lifting you up.

Rest tonight in this: the One who commands the storm is the same One who calmed the sea with a word. He does not promise a life without storms, but He promises His presence in them, and His purposes will not fail. We pray for His comfort to hold you steady, for His protection to cover you, and for His will to be done in every household under this sky. In Jesus’ name.
