We have a tornado warned storm coming at our area. Please ask God to spare us and let the storms miss us. I'm truly frightened. I ask in the name of Jesus. Thank you and God bless you. ###

We stand with you in this moment of fear and uncertainty, lifting your plea to our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The storms of this world, both literal and spiritual, can shake us to our core, but we know that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare His sovereignty over the winds and the waves, for He alone commands them: "He stilled the storm to a whisper and hushed the waves of the sea" (Psalm 107:29).

Father, we ask You to stretch forth Your hand and divert this storm from the path of and all those in its way. Shield their home, their loved ones, and their community from harm. Calm the winds, still the skies, and let the rain fall gently where it will not bring destruction. We trust in Your mercy, for You are the God who parts the seas and makes the storm be still (Mark 4:39). Even in the howling of the wind, remind that You are with them, that You hold them in the palm of Your hand, and that perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).

Lord, if there are those in this storm’s path who do not yet know You, use this moment to draw them to Yourself. Let them see Your power and Your protection, and may they cry out to You as the disciples did in the storm: "Save us, Lord; we are perishing!" (Matthew 8:25). We pray for the safety of first responders, emergency workers, and all who may be in harm’s way as they serve others. Give them wisdom, courage, and protection.

We also take a moment to rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip ’s heart. Fear does not come from You, Lord, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We speak peace over this situation, in Jesus’ name.

Father, if this storm must come, we ask that You use it for Your glory, whether through protection, provision, or a testimony of Your faithfulness. But above all, we pray for Your will to be done, for Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). Strengthen ’s faith in this moment, reminding them that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). May they find comfort in Your promises and rest in Your presence.

We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the One who calms the storms and saves our souls. Amen.

It's completely understandable to be frightened when a tornado warning hits your area. The roar of the wind and the urgent alerts pull our hearts right into our throats. We're right there with you, asking God to shield your home and your community. In moments like these, when we feel most vulnerable, it helps to remember that we are not alone in our fear, and we are not alone in this storm. God's presence is not diminished by the loudest thunder or the strongest winds.

While we pray, it’s also wise to take practical steps that can help you feel a bit more grounded while you wait. Making sure you and your loved ones are in the safest interior room, away from windows, is a good act of stewardship. Keep your shoes on and have a flashlight handy. These small actions don’t replace trust in God, but they are a way of cooperating with the wisdom He gives us for our protection. We’re praying for your safety and for a clear sense of peace to settle over you right now.

Lord Jesus, we come to you right now for this precious person who is scared and watching the skies. You are the one who calmed the sea with a word, and we ask you to still this storm. Guide it away from their home, and let it pass without harm or damage. Place your steady hand of protection over every person in its path. Even more than rerouting the weather, please quiet this fear. In the middle of the noise, speak your "peace, be still" into their heart. Let them feel your nearness in their safe place, and turn their terror into quiet trust. We ask for a swift end to this danger and a calm, starry night to follow. In your mighty name, Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. The tempest rages, and your heart trembles, but look not first to the clouds, for the thunder is but the voice of your God and the whirlwind comes from His hand. Could any but a divine motive actuate the Divine Architect? He sends the storm that He may display His own perfections, and perhaps in the gathering gloom He is preparing to display His tender mercy toward you. You are a low tree, fearing and trembling at His word, scarce thinking the promise can belong to you, yet it is the low tree that God shall exalt.

The ungodly have no changes, therefore they fear not God, but you have been emptied from vessel to vessel and now you groan, but do not let your groan become a snare. It is a command, absolute and unqualified, "Fear not; I am with thee." To give way to this terror weakens you and, far worse, it dishonors the Omnipotent. Doubt the Eternal, distrust the arm that sustains the pillars of the earth? Traitorous fear!

The very tempest that frightens you is under the divine sovereignty which is the most comforting of all doctrines to His children. You trace His hand in the calm; you must trace His hand in the whirlwind. Divine interpositions often come in the way of deliverance from floods of trouble; what remarkable preservations of life we have enjoyed, not miraculous perhaps, but full of wonder. Yet should the storm strike, still the command stands, for this fear of death is a bondage from which Christ delivers.

The main way to overcome it is to believe firmly in your Lord. You call on the name of Jesus; is not His very name the cure? He says, "Fear not; I am the First and the Last: I am He that lives and was dead; and behold I am alive forevermore." If He has plucked you from the pit, if His precious blood has cleansed you, then the dread of calamity must give way to holy awe. If I have the Divine Assurance that I am washed and clothed in the righteousness of Christ, how can I give way to fear?

You ask God to spare you in Jesus’ name; then let your faith not be a trembling reed but a firm reliance. It will be disobedience, then, to be afraid. One look into my Savior's breast and mercy is all that is written there. Fear not, then, for you carry Christ and all His fortunes.

Through the wind and the hail, He brings you safe to port. Fear not.

The terror you feel is not from the storm itself but from the infirmity of your mind. If we were troubled by the nature of circumstances, then every soul who sails this sea of life would be overwhelmed, for none can escape the waves. Yet some stand beyond the raging, not because the danger is less, but because the soul is fixed deep like a tree whose roots grip the earth. The gust that tears up the shallow plant cannot move the one nailed down by the fear of God. Do not measure His mercy by the sky's blackness. The tempest may howl, but He who stilled the sea with a word is not far from you.

Let your soul cleave to Him, not merely draw near when the thunder rolls. Thirst for Him with such vehemence that the dread of the whirlwind becomes distant noise. The righteous man possesses the goods of all men in safety, not because his roof is stronger, but because his heart is anchored in the haven of God's will. Covet not the illusion of control, which strips men of peace. Justice and trust make all things tolerable. The extortioners and the anxious alike lose all they grasp at; the one who loves righteousness sleeps without care, for there is no danger, no suspicion, no lamenting. Such a one fears no wrath of any earthly power, enduring as seeing Him who is invisible.

You ask in the name of Jesus, and rightly so. Remember that when He was lifted up, the gates of brass were broken and the keepers of hell cowered. Shall we then tremble before wind and rain? The disciples feared the storm on the lake, but Christ was in the boat. He rebuked the winds, but first He rebuked their little faith. Your fear is natural, but let it drive you to labor and earnestness, not to the slavish dread that disgraces the departed hope of the resurrection. Strengthen your resolution, and you will bear this easily. The prize of calm is set before you not in the ceasing of the storm, but in the unshaken soul that clings to Christ. He who sees the light of this world is in safety; how much more you who are with Him. Now fix your flesh in His fear, and the storm will be but a spectacle of His power.

I am lifting you and your area up right now, asking the Lord to shield you from this tornado and to quiet the storm. It is no small thing to face a warning like that, the rumble, the darkness, the uncertainty, and fear is a natural response. But let’s take that fear straight to the One who holds every wind and every bolt of lightning in His hands.

Scripture tells us God Himself is a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the blast of the terrible ones. He is not far off, watching from a distance. He is present with you, right there. When you feel the panic rise, remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That’s not a cowering dread; it’s a reverent awe that puts everything else into perspective. The same God who makes the clouds His chariot and rides on the wings of the wind cares for you. His power dwarfs any tornado. When we keep our eyes on Him, the fear of the storm begins to shrink.

Fear can be a snare, it can trap us, make us panic, and crowd out faith. But faith and fear cannot share the same space. The moment you feel that dread tightening, turn your thoughts to the Lord on purpose. David said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me.” His presence is the antidote. Think of the apostle Paul, caught in that hurricane at sea. For two weeks they saw no sun or stars, and all hope that they would be saved was taken away. Then the Lord came with a word: “Fear not.” Paul believed God, and everyone on that ship was spared. The same God is listening, and He has not lost a speck of His power.

Take wise, practical steps, take cover, heed the warnings, do everything you can to stay safe, but don’t let fear drive your heart. Let your prayers be steady and simple. Ask the Lord to calm this storm or to steer it away from your home; ask Him to calm your own heart just as firmly. He can hush a whirlwind, and He can hush a racing pulse.

In Jesus’ name, that name above all names, we trust Him to be exactly what His Word says: a stronghold in the day of trouble. He is your safe place. Keep feeding your faith with those promises, and may His peace guard your mind right through this.
