Stealing to feed son

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Since I lost my son to hunger, I started stealing to feed my family. I know God can change my story but I cannot bare to lost my last child. Pray for me

We have heard your cry and we are deeply grieved with you over the loss of your son to hunger and over the heavy burden you now carry for your last child. There are no words for the pain of losing a child, and we understand the desperation and fear that would drive you to do what you know is wrong in order to keep your family alive. We bring your sorrow and your struggle before the Lord together.

We must lovingly speak the truth as God gives it, for His Word says in Exodus 20:15 You shall not steal. And again in Ephesians 4:28 Let him who stole steal no more, but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need. Even when the motive is love for your child, stealing remains sin before a holy God, and it can bring further harm to you, your family, and your witness. God does not overlook sin because of our circumstances, but He does provide a way of forgiveness and a better way forward. In 1 John 1:9 we are promised If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We urge you to confess this to the Lord, to turn from stealing, and to ask Him to lead you into honest provision, even as you trust Him to protect your child.

We want you to know that God sees your affliction and He is your provider. He has not forgotten you or your children. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Jesus taught in Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, What will we eat, what will we drink or, With what will we be clothed For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. And in Psalm 37:25 we read I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. We encourage you to seek first His kingdom, to labor honestly with your hands as God enables you, and to humbly seek help from the body of Christ and from those around you. Go to a local Bible believing church, share your need openly, ask for work, for food, for counsel. God often provides through His people and He calls us to bear one another burdens.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we must tell you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and can be saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cannot come to God on our own goodness or our own desperation, we must come through faith in Jesus who died for our sins and rose again. If you have not already, we urge you to put your trust in Him for your salvation and for your daily provision.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this grieving parent to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, You know the pain of losing a son to hunger and the fear of losing another child. Have mercy and comfort this heart that is broken. Forgive the sin of stealing as it is confessed before You, and cleanse and restore through the blood of Jesus. Grant repentance and a new path of honest labor. Open doors for work, for daily bread, for shelter, and move the hearts of Your people nearby to provide help and support. Protect this last child, Lord, keep him from hunger and harm, and let this family see Your faithful provision. Draw this dear one into a saving relationship with Jesus, give peace that passes understanding, and change this story for Your glory. We ask that You will supply every need according to Your riches in Christ Jesus and that this family will seek first Your kingdom and trust You day by day. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We were so sorry to read about the loss of your son to hunger, and the fear you carry now for your last child. No parent should have to face that kind of heartbreak, and the weight of trying to keep your family alive each day is an enormous burden. We hear how much you love your children and how desperate this season feels.

Grief after losing a child is deep and personal, and fear for the child still with you can make every day feel urgent and overwhelming. You are not alone in that sorrow, and it makes sense that you feel torn and exhausted.

We want to encourage you to not carry this alone any longer. If you can, please reach out today to someone nearby you can trust, like a pastor, a local church, a community food program or a trusted aid organization, and tell them honestly that you are struggling to feed your family and that you have lost a child already. Letting one safe person know your situation can open a way for practical help and for others to walk with you, and it can help keep you and your child safer than trying to manage this by yourself.

Father, we bring this parent and this precious child before You in Jesus' name. Comfort this grieving heart, cover this family with Your care, and give wisdom and steady help in the days ahead. Provide for their daily needs in ways that bring dignity and safety, and surround them with people who will support them with compassion. Lead them step by step toward Your hope and peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow has come before the Lord and before His people, and it is with a heavy heart that I have read of your loss and your present burden. To lose a son to hunger is a grief that no words can fully measure, and to feel the hunger bite in your last child while fearing to lose him also is a trial that must press upon your whole nature. Scripture knows this hunger, that raging want which devours a man's strength, and God is not blind to your poverty and your tears.

You have confessed that you have taken what is not yours to feed your family. Hear me plainly and in love, the act of stealing, though wrung from desperation and love for your child, remains sin before a holy God, and it cannot be called good or be asked to be blessed as it stands. Yet there is forgiveness with God, and that is the blessed whisper which must drive away despair. I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, saith the Lord. It is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness, not because you have earned it, but because Jesus Christ the Just died for the unjust to bring us to God. Whatever your sin has been, theft or any other, there is forgiveness with Him through His blood, and it is to be had now, upon confession and repentance, by faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we may be saved.

Do as that poor man did who was laid before Jesus, hoping and expecting both forgiveness and healing. Believe that there is forgiveness of sins for you, for yourself, and seek it at once. Turn from this path and confess it to the Lord, who continues daily to forgive those who come to Him in truth. He will not forgive and afterwards accuse, His forgiveness is eternal and perfect, blotting out the debt as a creditor remits what the poor cannot pay. When you are in perfect poverty and have nothing to pay with, then is the time to look to Christ who paid all.

Trust Him also for your daily bread. He who feeds the sparrows knows your child's hunger. Seek the lawful and honest provision which God honors, make your need known to the faithful people of God near you, to the church and to those who can labor with you and help you, that you may not perish with hunger nor be driven to sin to sustain life. The Lord would have you live by honest hands and dependent prayer, not by taking in secret.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, look in mercy upon this grieving parent who has lost one child and fears for the other. Pardon every sin through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son, and grant a broken and penitent heart true faith to receive that pardon. Comfort this wounded heart under its great loss, and in Thy compassion provide for this family by Thy lawful and gracious hand, that this little child may be fed and preserved. Deliver Thy servant from temptation and from the snare of stealing, give strength to do what is right, open doors of honest work and charitable help, and let this story be changed by Thy grace to Thy glory. Keep this soul from despair and bring it into the full assurance that there is forgiveness and life with Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Your pain in losing a son to hunger is devastating, and your fear of losing your last child is deeply understood. God sees your grief and your love for your family, and He hears your cry for help.

I must speak to you truthfully and with love about stealing. Even when driven by desperate need, stealing is not the path God calls you to walk. Poverty does not have to lead to theft. Poverty rather calls us to honest labor and to trust God, while theft comes from a different place and puts both body and soul in greater danger, wandering in fear and risking life itself. The easier and safer and more God honoring way is to work with your hands in whatever honest work you can find, and to seek help openly from others. Scripture reminds us to look at the generations of old and see that no one who trusted in the Lord was forsaken. Even the Apostle Paul suffered hunger and thirst and had no rest, and our Lord Himself had nowhere to lay His head, yet poverty did not separate them from God. Lazarus was poor and hungry, yet his poverty did him no eternal harm, while righteousness is what truly fills and sustains us.

God does not want you to remain in this way of taking what belongs to another. He wants to forgive you and to provide for you through righteous means. Through Jesus Christ alone there is forgiveness and new life when we turn from sin and put our trust in Him. If you have taken what is not yours, confess this to God, ask His forgiveness, turn away from it, and where possible make it right. Then commit yourself to honest labor, even humble and difficult work, and to asking for help in a right way.

Please do not carry this burden alone. Go to a faithful local church and tell the pastor and other believers plainly about your need. Let them help you find work and food for your family. God often provides through His people, and you will find comfort not only in receiving help but in being restored to fellowship and honest living.

I pray for you now that God will comfort your heart in your grief, forgive you through Jesus Christ as you repent and trust Him, guard your last child and provide daily bread for your family through honest work and the help of caring believers, and give you strength to walk in righteousness and to trust Him even in hunger and fear. May He fill you with hope and keep you from being put to shame as you hope in Him.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain is heard, and the weight of losing a child to hunger and now fearing for your last child is more than words can carry. That kind of grief can feel overwhelming, like being overcome by circumstances with no way out. Hunger itself can reduce a person to desperate acts, and Scripture shows how severe hunger drove people in besieged cities to do things they never thought they would do. God sees your sorrow and your grief, and He knows the desperation that has pushed you toward stealing.

Stealing may put food on the table for a moment, but it leaves another burden behind. Guilt does not stay hidden. When it is not confessed, it hangs on like a plague and keeps nagging at the conscience. Often it creates a cycle where a person feels guilt, then secretly wants punishment to feel free of that guilt, then after punishment feels relief for a time, only to return to the same frustration and need again. That cycle never truly frees the heart, and after many years that guilt can still be present, rising up again whenever new trouble comes.

There is a better way to be freed from guilt. When Jesus died on the cross He took our sin and our guilt upon Himself and paid the penalty for it. No human effort or punishment can erase guilt the way He can. If you confess your sin to Him and trust Him, He forgives and cleanses. The Bible says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and that the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Like Judah who offered to take his brother's place and bear his punishment, Jesus became our substitute and took our place so we could go free. That is the only way the haunting weight of guilt is truly removed.

God also invites you to come to Him in poverty of spirit. That means seeing yourself honestly in the light of His holiness, without pride or boasting, mourning over what is wrong and hungering and thirsting for His righteousness. Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are those who mourn, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. When you bring your need and your sin to Him with an open heart, He promises to fill that hunger with His own righteousness and to provide for you. He is a God who makes provision to work on behalf of those who seek Him, even when a situation looks incurable or impossible to others. He had provision far beyond what the hungry people inside a starving city could imagine, but they had to turn to Him to receive it.

God can change your story, as you said, but that change comes as you turn from stealing and turn to Him for forgiveness and for daily provision. Stealing is sin before God, and He will not bless that path, but He will forgive you as you repent and He will help you walk in a new way. Ask Him to forgive you for stealing, to cleanse your heart, and to lead you to honest provision for your family. Reach out for lawful help as God provides it, to faithful believers near you, to those who can help with food and work, so you do not have to carry this alone or continue in a way that harms your conscience and your family.

I pray for you now. Father, I lift up this grieving parent who has lost one child to hunger and now lives in fear for the last child. Have mercy and comfort this broken heart. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, remove the burden of guilt, and give a clean conscience. Provide daily bread for this family according to Your riches, open doors for honest work and help from others, and give strength to do what is right even in great need. Fill the hunger for righteousness and give hope that You are near to those who mourn and who call upon You. Protect this child, sustain this family, and lead them into a new story by Your grace. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift you up before the Lord in these past days as we remember the deep pain of losing your son to hunger and the heavy burden you now carry as you try to feed and protect your last child.

We understand the desperation and fear you feel about not being able to bear losing your last child and the choices you have made to try to keep your family alive. We have been praying that the God who sees your suffering and knows your grief will change your story as you believe He can and make a way for you to provide for your family in a way that honors Him.

We pray in Jesus Name that the Lord will comfort your heart in your grief, forgive you and deliver you from the need to steal, and open doors for honest provision and work for you. We ask Him to protect your last child, to keep him in health and strength, and to surround your family with people who can help support you. We stand on the promise in Philippians 4:19 that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus and in Psalm 34:18 that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.

If your request was answered and the Lord has provided food, work or relief for your family, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still struggling with hunger and fear for your child, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
