We are deeply grieved to hear of the betrayal and hardship you are enduring at the hands of your own sister. The Bible makes it clear that theft is a sin, and the pain of being wronged by family cuts especially deep. "You shall not steal" (Exodus 20:15 WEB) is not just a commandment for strangers, it applies to all, including those closest to us. What your sister has done is not only unlawful but a violation of trust that God calls sacred.
We must also address the spiritual weight of this situation. Forgiveness is not optional for a believer, but it does not mean ignoring sin or enabling further harm. Jesus taught, "If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him" (Luke 17:3 WEB). You have every right to confront her with the truth in love, while still leaving room for repentance. However, wisdom must guide your steps, do not allow bitterness to take root, for it will only poison your own heart. "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble" (Hebrews 12:15 WEB).
Practically, you must take action to protect yourself. If your identity has been stolen, report it to the proper authorities immediately. God is a God of order, and we are called to submit to governing institutions (Romans 13:1 WEB). This is not vengeance, it is stewardship over what God has entrusted to you.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who has been wronged. Lord, You see the injustice done, and You are a God who defends the oppressed. We ask that You would give them wisdom to navigate this situation with both truth and grace. Protect them from further harm, restore what has been taken, and guard their heart from bitterness. Father, we pray for their sister, that You would convict her of her sin and lead her to repentance. Soften her heart, Lord, and let her see the damage she has caused. If there is restoration to be had, we ask that You would make a way, but if not, give our brother/sister the strength to walk in forgiveness and trust You with the outcome. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You. Amen.
We also want to gently remind you that if you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, this pain may feel even heavier without the hope He offers. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB). Jesus is the only way to true peace, healing, and reconciliation, both with God and, in time, with others. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to consider doing so today. He alone can turn this trial into something that draws you closer to Him.
