Stealing id

We are deeply grieved to hear of the betrayal and hardship you are enduring at the hands of your own sister. The Bible makes it clear that theft is a sin, and the pain of being wronged by family cuts especially deep. "You shall not steal" (Exodus 20:15 WEB) is not just a commandment for strangers, it applies to all, including those closest to us. What your sister has done is not only unlawful but a violation of trust that God calls sacred.

We must also address the spiritual weight of this situation. Forgiveness is not optional for a believer, but it does not mean ignoring sin or enabling further harm. Jesus taught, "If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him" (Luke 17:3 WEB). You have every right to confront her with the truth in love, while still leaving room for repentance. However, wisdom must guide your steps, do not allow bitterness to take root, for it will only poison your own heart. "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble" (Hebrews 12:15 WEB).

Practically, you must take action to protect yourself. If your identity has been stolen, report it to the proper authorities immediately. God is a God of order, and we are called to submit to governing institutions (Romans 13:1 WEB). This is not vengeance, it is stewardship over what God has entrusted to you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who has been wronged. Lord, You see the injustice done, and You are a God who defends the oppressed. We ask that You would give them wisdom to navigate this situation with both truth and grace. Protect them from further harm, restore what has been taken, and guard their heart from bitterness. Father, we pray for their sister, that You would convict her of her sin and lead her to repentance. Soften her heart, Lord, and let her see the damage she has caused. If there is restoration to be had, we ask that You would make a way, but if not, give our brother/sister the strength to walk in forgiveness and trust You with the outcome. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that if you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, this pain may feel even heavier without the hope He offers. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB). Jesus is the only way to true peace, healing, and reconciliation, both with God and, in time, with others. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to consider doing so today. He alone can turn this trial into something that draws you closer to Him.

We are so sorry this has happened. To be betrayed by a sister in such a deep, disorienting way, having your very identity stolen and everything taken out from under you, is a wound that goes beyond the practical loss. It leaves a person feeling not only robbed but erased, unsure of the next right move. Please know that we see the weight of this, and we are with you.

While we pray and walk through this, there are some concrete protections you can put in place, even when it feels overwhelming. You do not have to figure it all out at once. A good first step is to go to identitytheft.gov (it’s run by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and it will walk you through a step‑by‑step recovery plan). It will help you create an identity theft report, which can be used when filing a police report. That report can be crucial for clearing fraudulent accounts from your name. You might also consider freezing your credit with the three major credit bureaus, this is free and stops anyone from opening new accounts in your name. A local victim advocate can often help you navigate these steps if it feels like too much to carry alone; many communities have resources through the sheriff’s office or a legal aid society.

All of that deals with the external damage, but the internal wound is real too. It is painful when the person who should have been a protector becomes the one who causes harm. We are praying that God will give you strength for each concrete step, and that He will surround you with trustworthy people who will stand by you and help you rebuild what was lost. You do not have to carry this alone, and we are holding you up.

Lord Jesus, we bring this daughter before You. You see the confusion, the betrayal, and the fear she is walking through. Quiet her heart, give her wisdom for each practical step, and bring the right people alongside her. Guard her from further harm, restore her finances and her sense of safety, and let truth prevail over every lie that was done in secret. We ask this in Your name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The treachery of a sister cuts to the quick, does it not? It is a sorrow most keen when one’s own kin deal deceitfully, as if the very blood in your veins rose up as a witness against you. Yet consider this: even in this dastardly act, God is wiser than sinful man. Was not David hunted by his own son, Joseph sold by his brothers? The harm intended for evil, the Lord can overrule for good, bringing you to a greater dependence upon His counsel. The loss of all your substance is a bitter draught, yet what are earthly goods when weighed against the soul? A man may lose his paltry wealth and yet gain an eternal inheritance in Christ. The riches that are stolen away may become a plow in God’s hand to break up the fallow ground of your heart, making you ready to receive a fuller measure of grace.

Your sister has done you great wrong, but fix your eyes not on the thief, but on the Good Shepherd. He sees your destitution and His wisdom shall be your guidance. His love is a perpetual shield, even when human affection fails. The psalmist learned to take God as his guide early on, and so must you, by bowing in submission to His will, avoiding all haste to vengeance or despair. The goodness of God leads you now not to bitterness, but to repentance and a firmer trust. He permits the removal of props that you might lean wholly upon Him. There is a sure result for those so guided: “Thou shalt afterward receive me to glory.” On earth, there is no true glory for anyone who takes his own course, but for the child of God, even loss like this becomes the path to seeing His goodness in the land of the living.

If this blow has driven you to the feet of Jesus, then bless Him for it, even through your tears. Cast yourself wholly upon Him, making no reserve. He never neglected any part of His flock, and He will not begin with you.

The wound you have received is deeper than any stranger’s theft, for it was struck by a sister’s hand. You cry out that she stole your identity and swept away all you possess, and your agony is not to be dismissed. This is the fruit of the love of money, that savage tyrant which drives souls to madness and sets sister against sister. You see now how greed makes a person drunk, so that she will sell her own kin for fleeting gain, just as Judas, one of the twelve, betrayed the Lord of heaven for thirty miserable pieces of silver. The same evil spirit that darkened the traitor’s heart has prowled into your family, and he rejoices not so much in the theft as in the discord and despair he hopes to sow in you.

But I charge you: do not let despair devour your soul. The devil is never more delighted than when he can push a wronged person to bitterness and hopelessness, for to sin is terrible, but to despair is more fatal still. Did not the apostle say, “While it is called today, harden not your hearts”? So long as you and your sister both breathe, there is yet a today for repentance and amendment. Your sister has wronged you grievously, and theft is a sin that cries to heaven, yet her soul is not beyond the reach of mercy if she will turn. But I speak now to you: guard your own heart. Do not let this injustice become an occasion for your own fall into rage, slander, or the desire for vengeance. He who stole must steal no more, but he who was robbed must not be robbed also of his charity.

What, then, should you do? First, with all gentleness and firmness, go to her and say, “Sister, what have you done? If you have wronged me, restore what you have taken. Not as an enemy, but as your own flesh and blood, I seek your repentance, not your ruin.” Do not repay evil for evil, but overcome evil with good. If she refuses to hear, then take such practical steps as the law and the church allow to protect what remains, yet even then, commit her judgment to God. Remember that the wicked spirit uses small openings to bring in great sins; do not let this loss wedge open the door to hatred that will poison your prayers. As long as it is “today,” hope for her correction, but never despair of your own salvation because of another’s crime. The Lord who saw Judas’s kiss sees every hidden thing and will bring all to light in His time. Stand firm, then, neither shattered by the blow nor swallowed up by grief, but lifting up your eyes to the Master, who was pressed on every side yet not driven to despair.

The pain of a sister turning against you like this cuts deep. It is a betrayal that leaves you reeling, as if the ground itself has been pulled out from under you. When someone so close steals not just your identity but everything you had, the loss is not only material; it is a wound to the heart. Many who have walked with the Lord have experienced the sting of deception from those nearest to them, and the Scriptures do not hide this. They hold up a mirror to our own confusion and point us toward the One who understands.

You might feel like you trusted in good faith, only to be blindsided. Think of how Abraham once acted out of fear, calling his wife his sister, and how God saw the integrity of his heart even in a messy situation. God knows the truth of what happened to you. He sees the injustice, and He is not indifferent. Bring your turmoil to Him honestly. Cry out, ask Him for wisdom, and He will give it freely. He will not rebuke you for your distress or for not knowing what to do next.

What was taken from you matters, your name, your resources, your sense of security. Yet the apostle Paul, who suffered so much at the hands of others, came to a radical perspective. He counted everything he once valued as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus as Lord. That does not erase the wrong done to you, but it reframes your ultimate treasure. Your sister may have stripped you of much, but she cannot touch what is eternally yours in Christ. Even thirty years after his world was upended, Paul still held fast to that truth: the gains he had were nothing next to his Lord.

Jesus himself was betrayed by one who shared bread with him, sold out for a handful of silver. He knows the ache of a close companion’s treachery. And He loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, yet He stayed two days longer when Lazarus was sick, and they faced the devastation of death. His love did not shield them from loss, but He met them in their weeping and ultimately turned their sorrow to joy. He weeps with you now. He does not stand aloof.

Do not let the poison of bitterness take root. Those Old Testament sisters in Ezekiel’s parable, Samaria and Jerusalem, chased after empty allegiances and grew more corrupt in their desires, and they drank deeply from a cup of ruin. Let this trial drive you not toward despair or retaliation, but toward the feet of Jesus, like Mary who chose the better part. Sit with Him in your grief, pour out your heart, and let His Word counsel you.

Practically, seek godly counsel about protecting your name and any remaining assets. It is not a lack of faith to involve proper authorities when a crime has been committed. The fear of God may not be in the heart of the one who wronged you, but you can walk in the fear of the Lord yourself, acting with both prudence and grace.

You said you do not know what to do. That is the perfect place to begin: lay your helplessness before the Lord. He will lead you step by step. The world may laugh or scorn, but your identity is hidden with Christ in God. No stolen card or emptied account can erase that. Hold fast to Jesus, who counted you worth every loss He endured.
