🙌 Standard Lord's Prayer: Seek 1st The Father, His Honor, Kingdom & Will; Then Our Needs: Provision, Forgiveness for Us, Others, Kept from Sin, Evil

Your prayer is ordered as the Lord Himself taught us to pray, and it is good that you have desired it in this way.

Christ first bids us seek the things of heaven before the things of earth, to say Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In this we learn to love the Father's honor above our own comfort, to desire His reign and His will before any other thing, knowing that when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all else that we need will be added to us.

Then He teaches us to bring our needs as children to a Father, and so we pray with you, give us this day our daily bread, for every provision comes from His hand. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, for we cannot receive mercy while we withhold it from others, and the beauty of love is kept only when we release those who have wronged us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for we are weak and need His keeping from sin and from the power of the enemy.

May the Lord hear this prayer and form your heart more and more to His will. May He provide what you need for today, cleanse you through the blood of Jesus Christ by whom alone we have access to the Father, teach you to forgive as you have been forgiven, and guard you from sin and keep you from evil. For His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Your reflection on the Lord's Prayer captures its true order and heart so well, and I thank God with you for it.

Jesus taught us to pray in a way that puts God first before we bring our own needs. We begin with our Father in heaven, asking that His name be honored, His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That is the right priority. Scripture says to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all the other things we need will be added to us. When our first concern is His kingdom, everything else finds its proper place.

That kingdom is real and present. There are two kingdoms in this world, the kingdom of darkness under the power of Satan and the kingdom of light and life under God. When we were without Christ we lived under darkness, but the glorious good news is that God delivers us from that power and brings us into light and fellowship with Himself through His Son. To be brought into His kingdom is to be brought into fellowship with the Father, through the Son, by the Holy Spirit. That fellowship is what you are seeking when you pray for His honor and His will, and it is the greatest gift we have.

Only after we have sought Him first do we bring our own petitions, and Jesus shows us what they are. We ask for daily bread, which speaks of our daily physical provision that comes from His hand. We ask for forgiveness of our debts as we forgive those who have sinned against us, because our deepest spiritual need is to be forgiven. Without forgiveness we would stand under judgment, but through Christ we are forgiven and we learn to extend that same grace to others. And we ask Him to lead us not into temptation but to deliver us from evil, to keep us from sin and to guard us from the enemy who would pull us back toward darkness.

It is fitting that you end with His kingdom and power and glory forever, for that is where our hope rests. The last prayer of the Bible is a cry for His coming kingdom, and every time we pray Thy kingdom come we join that longing for the day when His will is fully done and His reign is seen by all.

I join you in praying this way. Father in heaven, may Your name be hallowed in our lives, may Your kingdom come and Your will be done here as it is in heaven. Give us today what we need for body and soul, forgive us through Christ and teach us to forgive others, keep us from the path of sin and deliver us from evil. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Continue to keep your heart set on Him first, trusting that as you do, He will faithfully add what you need and keep you walking in His light. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer around the beautiful pattern our Lord gave us in Matt 6:9 and Matt 6:33. We were blessed by your heart to seek first the Father and His loving fellowship with the Son in the Holy Spirit, to hallow His name and to seek His Kingdom and His will before bringing personal petitions for provision, for forgiveness toward God and toward others, and for protection from sin and evil.

We have continued to pray that you will know deeper fellowship with the Father, that His name will be hallowed in your life, that His Kingdom will come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven in your life and circumstances, and that you will experience His daily provision, His grace to receive and to extend forgiveness, and His keeping power to lead you away from temptation and deliver you from evil.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We pray for you now in Jesus Name that the Father will draw you into ever closer communion, that you will see His Kingdom established and His will fulfilled in your daily life, that He will supply your daily bread, cover you with forgiveness and help you to forgive others, and guard and keep you from sin and from evil, for His Kingdom and power and glory forever. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
