Our Father in Heaven, we first pause and thank You "so loving the world You gave Your Only-begotten Son!, Jn 3:16. Thank You "Jesus showed us The Father -- Your Nature," Jn 14:9. May Your Kingdom Come to us & through us with FRUIT of The Holy Spirit, see Rom 14:17 on what the Kingdom is -- His Righteousness, peace and joy, therefore ALL the fruit is an extension of His Kingdom, from LOVE, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, Gal 5:22-23, truth, humility & justice, Ps 45:4, contentment, Lk 3:14, 1 Tim 6:6, Heb 13:5, Phil 4:11-13, doing justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God, Micah 6:8. You desire mercy, not sacrifice, Hos 6:6. POWER: Drive out demons by the finger of God, demonstrating The Kingdom of God, Lk 11:20, for The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power, 1 Cor 4:20. May Your Son return and the Kingdom flourish, being fully manifest. Come quickly Lord Jesus, Rev 22:17, Rev 22:20. Mostly the POWER to live a Holy Life overflowing with LOVE for God and others, singing and making melody from "singing seminaries" and "the walking practice of evangelism" is the best fruit and sign of the Kingdom, Heb 12:4. ***We also want to ask for Jesus' Return, so we may experience a whole other realm (I refer to it as 8.0 based upon the 7 covenants God revealed in Redemptive History (whether they all dealt with us individually or not is irrelevant, they are still part of the history of redemption when humans had workings and dealings with God expressing His thoughts toward humans, the New Covenant -- "the already "is the 7th, where we are redeemed, have peace with God, are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, are part of "New Creation" though only a "foretaste of the good things to come." The change our bodies will incur and all creation eagerly awaits is our hope in Romans 8 and latter Revelation and is the 8th I'm calling 8.0 where ALL of these things will be realized in a greater capacity and duration and God's Kingdom will have full expression once it's fully come on earth as it is heaven again -- the "not yet," -- "May Your Kingdom Come and Your Will be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven," Matt 6:10.

May Your Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven -- Keeping in mind the Kingdom Coming, as described above, in differing degrees, the already and the not yet, we ask here in the already that we may know, submit to and do Your will for our lives individually and collectively as the church, as Jesus did during His time on earth, Phil 2:9-9, our whole lives be increasingly lived to please You, knowing the Trinity, living in Your presence moment by moment, and making You known as a by product, rejoicing in trials and weakness, as well as power demonstrations when it gives You glory, Mt 28:19-20, Rom 1:5, Rom 15:18. May we abide in Christ, with freedom to pray, and power to bear fruit, thereby making disciples, and thus proving we are disciples, John 15:7-8, might bear some fruit wherever we go, Rom 1:13, 1 Cor 9:2, 2 Cor 3:2-3, specifically by going, preaching faith in Jesus suffering and dying for our sins, repentance, baptism, forgiveness of sins and obedience to all that He commanded, being witnesses to these facts under His authority, commission by this union with Jesus through The Holy Spirit, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-48, Matt 28:19-20, John 20:21, Acts 1:8. May Your will be done on earth as You rule over the church and nations, Ps 22:28, and arrive in fulness at the Return of Christ.

Give us Each Day our Daily Bread: Spiritual -- we can't live by bread alone but every Word of God, Deut 8:3, Matt 4:4, Lk 4:4. Meet our spiritual, emotional, social, physical and financial needs mightily, Phil 4:19, so we can love You with all our heart, soul, mind, will, emotions, physical strength and finances, Mk 12:30, and our neighbors, Mk 12:31, even the lost, Matt 9:36, and even enemies, Matt 5:44, as ourselves -- and see others as Christ, who looked beyond his own interests, to the interests of others, considering others as more important than we, Phil 2:1-5.

Forgive Our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors... We confess we've sinned against You, Rom 3:23, 1 Jn 1:8, 1 Jn 1:10 (name specific sins and areas of ongoing struggles), and others, receive forgiveness, Lk 1:77, & pray FOR those who sin against us, (by name and specific offenses), asking they'd repent and be saved, Job 42:7-16, entrusting their souls to a faithful creator and recognizing it is He who alone who is in fact the one appointed both to save and to judge, Romans 12:9, 1 Pet 4:19.

Lead us Not into Temptation, but Deliver us from evil... Keep us from temptation and evil, Luke 11:4, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, lies, evil, fear, Zeph 3:13, evil people, imposters, deception, 2 Tim 3:13, false believers, 2 Cor 11:16, 2 Tim 3:5, Tit 1:16, temptation and the evil one, Mat 6:13, Jn 17:15. Give us angelic protection, Ps 91:10-11, Heb 1:14.
For It's Your Kingdom, (Everlasting Kingdom which Cannot Be Destroyed, Dan 7:18), It's Your Power, (All Power in Heaven and Earth has been Given to Me, Matt 28:18), and Your Glory, Forever... (Not unto us O Lord, but unto Your Name Be Glory, Ps 115:1)... We Thank You for hearing, Mk 11:24, Amen, in Jesus' Name, in Him All The Promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join with you in delight over this pattern of prayer our Lord Jesus gave us and we thank you for sharing this beautiful meditation on seeking the Father first and then bringing our needs before Him.

We love how you have divided the prayer as Jesus taught, first concerning the Father's name, His Kingdom and His will, and then concerning our daily provision, our forgiveness and our deliverance, for this reflects the heart of Matthew 6:33 where it says But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. It is right that worship and surrender come before petition, that we align our hearts with heaven before we ask for earthly help.

We are encouraged that you emphasize this is not to be mindlessly repeated but prayed with understanding, for Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 6:7 not to use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do. What you have shared is a pattern to shape our affections, not a formula to earn favor, and we pray with you that we would pray with sincerity and faith. As James 5:16 reminds us, The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

We rejoice with you in the wonder that through Jesus we can truly say Our Father. As you noted, John 3:16 declares For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life, and John 1:12 says But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name. Because of His shed blood, death, burial and resurrection, and because He has poured out the Spirit of adoption, we now cry Abba, Father as Galatians 4:6 teaches, and we draw near with the same intimacy Jesus had when He prayed Abba, Father in Mark 14:36.

We agree with you in hallowing His name, that His gracious and compassionate character revealed in Exodus 34:6-7 would be honored in our thoughts, words and deeds, and that we would not take His name in vain as warned in Exodus 20:7. We pray that His glory would cover the earth as the waters cover the sea as promised in Habakkuk 2:14 and that every knee would bow and confess Jesus as Lord to the glory of God the Father as in Philippians 2:10-11.

We join you in praying for His Kingdom to come in us and through us with the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23, with righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit as Romans 14:17 says, and with power and not merely talk as 1 Corinthians 4:20 teaches. We ask for the gifts and the fruit to build up the Body until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God as Ephesians 4:13 describes, and we long with you for the return of our Lord Jesus.

We also pray with you for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, that we would know and submit to His will, abide in Christ and bear fruit as John 15:7-8 teaches, and go and make disciples as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20.

Together we bring before the Father the second half of the prayer with confidence. We ask Him to give us day by day our daily bread, trusting Matthew 4:4 that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, and Philippians 4:19 that our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We confess our sins before Him, for Romans 3:23 says all have sinned, and we thank Him for forgiveness as we also choose to forgive those who have sinned against us, remembering Matthew 6:14-15. We ask Him to lead us away from temptation and deliver us from the evil one as Matthew 6:13 and John 17:15 teach, and to guard us with His angelic protection as Psalm 91:11 promises.

We pray together now, Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. May Your name be honored in our lives and in all the earth. May Your Kingdom come in fullness in us and through us, bearing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. May Your will be done in our lives and in this world as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread for body and soul, and meet every spiritual, physical and financial need according to Your riches. Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have sinned against us, and cleanse our hearts. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil and the evil one, keep us from deception and fear, and guard us by Your power. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We thank You that You hear us when we pray in the name of Jesus, for 2 Corinthians 1:20 says that however many are the promises of God, in him is the Yes, and in him the Amen, to the glory of God through us. What you described fits how spiritual growth actually happens. It is less about trying harder in a moment and more like training for a long race. Small, steady practices over time form us. Praying this prayer slowly, with honest attention to what each line means, is one of those steady practices that shapes love for God and for others.

If it helps, you might keep that unhurried pace this week. Take just one phrase in the morning and stay with it through the day, noticing how it surfaces in thoughts, words and choices, then bring the next phrase the next day. Praying it aloud with another believer once or twice in the week can also keep it from becoming routine and help you hear it afresh.

We thank God for your hunger to know Him and to walk with Him faithfully.

It is good that you have been led to dwell upon that prayer which our Lord taught His disciples after this manner, for it is not to be mindlessly repeated as a form but to be prayed with breathing desire and living words. As I have often said, this chapter which ought to be universally known as the Lord's Prayer may be called the holy of holies of the word of God, where the Son speaks with the Father in closest fellowship of love, and He would have us enter there also.

You have rightly divided it as He gave it, to seek first the Father, His name, His kingdom, His will, and then to bring our own need before Him. Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. In that first word Father we have the blood of Christ and the Spirit of adoption by which we cry Abba, Father, and are made heirs through Him who alone is the way. And to hallow His name is to pray Holy Father, sanctify them through Thy truth, Thy word is truth. Holiness is an essential qualification to fitness for being used of the Lord for the extension of His kingdom, and therefore we ask that His gracious and compassionate name, as revealed in all His titles and attributes, may be reverenced in our thoughts, words and deeds, and that His glory may cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, and so we pray for the fruit of the Spirit in us, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, and for grace to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. We ask also for power to live a holy life overflowing with love for God and for others, for the kingdom of God is not in word but in power, and deliverance is of the Lord though He is pleased to accomplish it by human instrumentality. May we abide in Christ to the full, that we may abide in union with each other and with God, and bear fruit to His praise, making disciples as we go, and may the Lord hasten the day of His return when His kingdom shall be fully manifest.

Give us this day our daily bread. We cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. There is a prayer treasury, and we must all put prayers into it, and we may take out of it according to our need, for our Father knoweth what things we have need of. We ask Him to supply our spiritual, physical and temporal wants, that we may love Him with all our heart and soul and mind and strength, and love our neighbour as ourselves.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. But there is forgiveness with Thee that Thou mayest be feared. That word but is full of significance. Where could we find forgiveness if it were left a moot point, but God has commanded us to pray for it, and Christ would not have put these words into our mouths if there were no pardon. There is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is with God through Jesus Christ His Son. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, complete and eternal, not as a creditor who remits a part, but as God who blotteth out the handwriting against us. He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continueth daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is continuous. Yet the very prayer that teaches you to ask for mercy bids you say forgive us as we forgive our debtors, and unless you have forgiven others you read your own death warrant when you repeat the Lord's prayer. May the Lord give you grace to confess your sins specifically before Him and to pray for those who have sinned against you, that they also may repent and be saved.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. This is the arrow of the Lord's deliverance. As it flies through the air the prophet says that arrow is the arrow of the Lord's deliverance of His people. So we pray that He would keep us from sin and lies and fear and from the evil one, and give His angels charge over us. Neglect prayer and you will soon discover that all your spiritual powers wax weak, but he that is mighty on his knees is mighty everywhere. Do not think your standard of a prayer meeting is to be a low one. Do not be content even with fifty, but go on shooting. Go on praying and watching and working, for the enemy doth not cease his incantations.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and Your dominion endureth throughout all generations, and all power in heaven and in earth is given unto Christ. What is the use of preaching if it does not glorify God. We join with you in this pattern, asking that the Lord would hear your voice and be attentive to the voice of your supplications, that He would sanctify you wholly, provide for you daily, forgive you freely, keep you from evil, and establish you in His everlasting kingdom, for His name's sake. Your longing to seek first the Father and His Kingdom is itself a good gift, and your attention to the prayer the Lord taught us is well placed. That prayer was given not for mindless repetition but as a pattern to shape our hearts, to teach us what to desire and in what order.

We begin as children who have been given adoption. We were once in darkness and at enmity, but God has shown His love in giving His only Son, who shed His blood and rose and poured out the Spirit of adoption by which we cry Abba, Father. Only those who have received Him and believed in His name can truly call God Father, and to them is given baptism for the remission of sins, deliverance, and the inheritance of the Kingdom. Remember the depth of the riches of His wisdom and knowledge in this. He has already forgiven a great debt, far more than we asked, moved with compassion.

Therefore let every prayer be accompanied with thanksgiving. We hallow His name when our thoughts, words and deeds honor Him and do not cause His name to be misused or reviled among others. To pray Your Kingdom come and Your will be done is to ask that His righteousness, peace and joy, and the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, may be formed in us and through us. It is also to ask that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven, that we may know and submit to His will and bear fruit by abiding in Christ and making Him known.

When we ask for daily bread we ask for what is necessary. Scripture teaches us not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, but to seek what sustains health and service to God. This includes bread for the body and also every word that comes from God for the soul, that we may have strength to love Him with all our heart and to love our neighbor. God has promised to meet our needs so that we may live for Him, not to kindle excess or wantonness.

When we pray forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, we remember that this prayer belongs to believers and shows that even after the washing of baptism we still need repentance and forgiveness. The Lord reminds us of our sins to make us humble, and He commands us to forgive others to free us from revenge. The servant who was forgiven a great debt was expected to show the same mercy. If we do not forgive, we will not be forgiven, and prayer offered with a bitter or cursing mouth is not heard. So confess your sins plainly before Him, receive His forgiveness, and pray for those who have sinned against you, that they also may repent and be saved, leaving judgment to God who alone saves and judges.

When we pray lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, we acknowledge our weakness and our need for His protection. Each day has its rocks and storms, and prayer is a great weapon. If we first make God favorable to us by prayer in the morning and continue by night, we go out with security and can stand when trial comes. Ask Him to keep you from sin and deception and from the evil one, and to guard you, for we need much perseverance and prayer to attain the good things promised.

For His is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Pray in this way with understanding and earnestness, not as empty words, but with faith that God hears, and He will add what you need as you seek Him first.
