This subject is something I would like to get some discussion going around. I have a confirmed gift of discerning spirits. Does someone here have the gift and how does it manifest?

Through the gift of discerning, I have seen things in spirit. I have seen people's eyes turning in white or yellow. I have sometimes been able to tell if a person's actions are affected by spirits. And I am able to feel the presence of the enemy and the Holy Ghost as well. There seems to be a season when this gift is more active.

I post this blog post to get discussion going and to share experiences with others who have this gift. I post this under the title of spiritual warfare because this gift goes under that topic, and I would like to discuss spiritual warfare as a wider topic as well.

What comes to spiritual warfare, I have seen dreams where I fight demons. Usually, they are in the form of a person or shadowy figure, and I have driven them away in the name of Jesus.

Another kind of dream that has occurred multiple times is this: I wake up or feel like that I am awake, but I am in a dream. I try to snap the lights on, but I can't light them, and my house remains dark. Then I start to panic as I can't get the lights on. Then I try to go out, but I can't go out since doors are locked, and I can't get them open. I start to feel heavy like darkness trying to suffocate me, and then I say, "In Jesus' name, lights back on now, and begone darkness." I repeat this three times and wake up. This dream has repeated a few times.

After I moved into my new house, I saw a dream on the first night in the house. In the dream, a big shadowy figure attacked me, but I drove it out in Jesus' name. After this dream in my new flat, there have been no dreams where darkness invades my house, and I can't get out or put lights on.

There have been many other kinds of dreams I have seen, and things that the gift of discernment has allowed me to see. But I share them later if the Lord so allows.

The precious Holy Spirit will give anyone who asks for a gift to discern evil spirits filling peoples hearts and in their life. Today we see lost souls full of evil spirits full of hate, anger and rage against anyone or anything they hear. This comes from satan to destroy others and destroy themselves. This wonderful gift given to us by God will become an increasingly important as we approach the end of the age in which satan will be chained for a thousand years. He is angry and wants to destroy others by sending devils into the life of evildoers. Jesus clearly told us. Fast and pray so you may be healed. Sickness of all kinds in our bodies comes because the devil want us all busy worrying about our health and our mental ability to serve the Lord. So, desire this gift above all things to see people set free from depression, worry, fear, stress, anger and rage that overwhelms their life. Ask the Lord in prayer to be merciful and kind to those who are suffering so much feeling worthless and that no one loves or cares for them. Desire to be pure and holy before the Lord. Remember this. Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one shall see the Lord. Be sensitive to spiritual atmosphere. If there is peace, joy and happiness in your home, then Jesus is the center of your existence.

I do believe that there is spiritual warfare around us. I have read about it to understand how it works and how deliverance can be attained. It's complex. I hope to learn more from other people's experiences. Most Christians don't believe in it.

It's kind of odd that most Christians don't believe in it when this is pretty clearly stated in the Bible as an example Eph. 6. And Jesus casting out devils in numerous occasions. And even naming one demon Legion in Mark 5:1-20. Acts record how apostles continued this practice too. This is also sad because in some cases this prevents people from being delivered and seeing the full blessing of God.

I do believe in spiritual warfare being very real and have some knowledge of it. I am glad that people are responding in this blog post and there are others who want to know more. May the Holy Spirit lead us that we learn right things and that we may not be ignorant of devils' devices. 2 Cor. 2:11. It is true this subject is complex and we must be striving to obey God's word in all things when venturing into this area.

I am feeling comfortable right now to share that I come from a background of other sorts of spirituality than Christianity and believing in Jesus. Before I knew Christ I was dabbling with paganism, occultism, and witchcraft. I am happy to report Lord has delivered me from these influences. Basically, I was involved in spiritual warfare in the moment I came to know Christ. At first, it was hard for me to even read the Bible or pray because it made me feel sick and repulsive. I am glad to be here where I am today, praise the Lord for the work He has done in my life.

I usually don't put much thought in my dreams. If I thought about what happened to you or it happened to me I would speak; Jesus, You are the light of my world, in Jesus lighten my way. In Jesus bless me with what You desire for me to know. I can see the Spirit of the living God in others as a glowing in them, like looking into the moon and seeing the reflection of our God's face.

In time Jesus will always let us know our roles just don't think about it or worry about and be grateful for what He blesses you to see and know

Call unto the Lord when you are under satan's attack and when you cannot sleep well at night and nightmares come to your life. Spiritual warfare comes to us to make us strong in the Lord and faithful in prayer. Jesus is alive and well and wants us all to be full of peace, joy, and happiness in this life and then in eternity.

Thank you for numerous replies. Yes I agree that spiritual warfare comes to make us strong and faithful in prayer.

Romans 8:28: and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose

In my experience spiritual warfare is almost always present when God is working in someone's life. The enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy. Others experience the warfare more than others, just like soldiers; each one of us has his/her own place and some stand in the area of spiritual warfare and experience it more intensely. But no matter how intense the warfare is, our God is always bigger and has already won.

Ephesians 6 teaches us basic things of spiritual warfare and tells us to wear the full armor of God. And use the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Using scripture and speaking it out loud while in prayer is a strong weapon against the enemy. To be effective in this, knowing the word becomes increasingly important.

There is an example in the Bible where Jesus uses the word to counter the devil. Matthew 4:1-11.

In my opinion, every follower of Christ should have basic knowledge of spiritual warfare. And then those whom God has appointed to be more involved serve the others with their gift and knowledge. One of the most grave mistakes we can do is to ignore this area or to give it too much power/concern.

So finding balance and having Christ Jesus as our firm foundation in which we must be rooted is crucial.

Jesus went through a spiritual warfare when satan tempted him on the dessert. Fourty days without food or drink made the devil tempt him in anyway possible but Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. He defeated satan with His word. Thou shall worship the Lord and Him shall thou serve.

True.. I have had such dreams too. I have always dreamt of things and they happen in real life.

So there are others who see warfare dreams too. Seeing things in dreams that happen in real life might be prophetic dreams. Do you have a gift of prophecy?

In my family, there are a lot of people who see things beforehand in dreams. It seems to be an inherited trait in my family. But is it from God is completely another question. On which I will write more about later, don't have time now.
