Your prayer for your son is heard, and I join you in bringing him before our Heavenly Father who loves him even more than you do.
The Scriptures show us how deep a father's love for his son can be. When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac, He said take now your son, your only son whom you love. That picture helps us understand what it meant for God to so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus was born as a child in the line of David, but He was given as the Son of God, declared to be the Son of God with power by His resurrection from the dead, and affirmed by the Father's own voice from heaven, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. To know who Jesus is matters more than anything else, because the record God has given is that eternal life is in His Son, and he who has the Son has life, and he who confesses the Son has the Father also.
That is my first prayer for your son, that he would belong fully to Jesus Christ. In the fullness of time God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, that we who were under the law might receive adoption as sons. Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth, and there is no other way to the Father except through Him. When a person trusts in Him, his blood continually cleanses from all sin, and that person is adopted into God's family as an heir through Christ. My prayer is that your son would walk in that truth, that what he has heard from the beginning about Christ would remain in him, so that he would continue in the Son and in the Father, keeping His commandments not as a burden but out of love, and walking in wisdom and discretion that keeps his feet from evil.
I also pray with you for his protection. The Lord is able to keep and deliver, and He calls us to keep ourselves in the love of God while trusting His power to keep us. I ask the Father to place His hedge around your son and to deliver him from every form of abuse, physical, emotional, and spiritual. The deeds done in darkness have no fellowship with the light, and I pray that whatever is hidden would be exposed and brought into the light where it can be dealt with in truth. I ask that the Lord would command His angels to surround him, that He would be his refuge and strength, and that He would fill him with a peace that guards his heart and mind in Christ Jesus and strengthen him day by day so that when he lies down he will not be afraid.
May the Lord draw your son close to Himself, keep him safe in the hand of His protection, and make Himself known to him as Father through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. I pray this in the name of Jesus, our hope and our life. Amen.
