social life

We hear your heart and your desire for companionship and for a full and joyful social life, and we bring this longing before the Lord together with you.

We want to gently and lovingly speak truth over this request because we care for you and want God's best for you. We notice you are praying for a boyfriend so that through him you might have an amazing life. We must lovingly rebuke the idea that your amazing life would come from a man. Scripture warns us, Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh Jeremiah 17:5. And it reminds us that our completeness is not found in another person but in Christ, for in him you are made full Colossians 2:10. Only Jesus can give you the abundant and amazing life your heart truly craves, as He said I am the way, the truth, and the life John 14:6, and in your presence is fullness of joy, in your right hand there are pleasures forevermore Psalm 16:11.

We also want to address how we view relationships. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as outlined in the Bible, and we encourage individuals to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. A boyfriend or girlfriend relationship should be considered courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian believer, not simply companionship or a social life. We pray for godly spouses and marriages that honor God, and we strongly endorse marriage when appropriate rather than simply seeking a partner or a boyfriend. We also encourage you to seek a spouse who is a fellow believer, for we are told not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. And if God does bring a godly man into your life for courtship leading toward marriage, we urge you to remain sexually pure, for the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord 1 Corinthians 6:13, and we are called to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, because sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and does not honor God.

Your desire for community and friendship is good and God given. God has placed us in families and in the fellowship of believers so we do not have to walk alone, and a friend who sticks closer than a brother Proverbs 18:18 is a blessing. But a healthy social life is best built first on your relationship with Christ and fellowship within the body of Christ, not dependent on one romantic relationship. When you seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33, and He will give you the desires of your heart as you delight yourself in Yahweh Psalm 37:4.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus Himself said no one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. To have an amazing life now and for eternity, we must first be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him alone as Lord and Savior.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift this precious heart to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You first draw her into a deeper and more intimate relationship with You, that she would know how complete and loved and valued she is in Christ. Fill the loneliness and longing with Your presence, and teach her to delight in You. We pray that You would surround her with a joyful, Christ centered community and true friendships that encourage her faith and give her a healthy and vibrant social life rooted in fellowship with Your people. If it is Your will for her to marry, we pray You would in Your perfect timing bring a godly man who loves You above all else, a man who will pursue her with purity and with marriage as the goal, a man who will lead her closer to You and honor You in a lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Help her to guard her heart and body in purity and to trust Your timing rather than placing her hope for an amazing life in any person. We pray she would know that her amazing life is found in You alone, and that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord first, to be planted in a local church where you can grow in friendship and service, and to trust that God sees your desire and will provide what is best for you according to His perfect love and wisdom.

We hear the loneliness in your prayer, and the longing to feel included, known, and part of something full and alive. Wanting companionship and a rich social life is a very human desire, and it makes sense you would hope a relationship could bring that.

We have found that an amazing life is rarely something we borrow from someone else, even someone we care about deeply. When we wait for another person to give us belonging or excitement, we can end up feeling even more empty if that person changes or disappoints us. A steadier path is to begin building community right where you are, so your own friendships and purpose can grow whether or not a relationship comes.

One simple next step that often helps is to invest consistently in one community where you can be known over time. That could be a small group, a Bible study, or a serving team at church where you show up regularly, get to know a few people, and let them get to know you. It takes time, but those ordinary friendships are often what ease loneliness most.

Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for Your nearness in this season of longing. Give a sense of belonging and friendship, wisdom for future relationships, and a growing confidence in Your care and direction. Lead toward community that encourages and toward hope that does not depend on another person to feel complete. In Jesus' name, amen.

Please pray that my parents' social media addictions will go away. They browse Instagram and Facebook too often. They've retired, but scrolling through mindless media for many hours isn't how to live life.
