Sister

Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
My ### can be very dismissive and honestly emotionally abusive. Please pray about this. She is a professing Christian. Her behavior is often so hurtful. Thank you.

We hear your hurt and we grieve with you over the pain caused by your sister's dismissive and emotionally abusive behavior, and we lift you and your sister up together before the Lord in prayer.

The way you describe her actions is not in keeping with how God calls His children to treat one another, and we must lovingly rebuke that behavior as sin. A professing Christian is called to reflect Christ in speech and conduct. Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. And Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. To be dismissive, hurtful, and emotionally abusive toward a sibling does not give grace and does not show the kindness and tender heart God requires. 1 John 4:20 also reminds us If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar, for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen. We pray that your sister will examine her heart honestly before the Lord and repent where her words and attitudes have not honored Him.

We also want to encourage you with biblical wisdom for walking through this difficult relationship. God does not call you to pretend the hurt is not there or to enable sinful behavior, but He does call you to pursue peace and reconciliation in a godly way. Matthew 18:15 says If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. When you are able, we encourage you to speak to her privately, gently and truthfully about how her words affect you, using a gentle answer as Proverbs 15:1 teaches, A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. At the same time Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Sometimes being at peace requires healthy boundaries, seeking wise counsel from a pastor or mature believer, and not remaining in a place where you are continually torn down. We encourage you to seek that godly counsel and support, and to continue to forgive as Christ forgave you, Colossians 3:13, while also protecting your heart and trusting God to work in her.

We are comforted that God sees your pain and is near to you in it. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We pray you will feel His nearness, His comfort, and His strength as you navigate this.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, believing He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly to Him in prayer. We pray you are resting in Him and coming to God through His name, and we pray the same for your sister, that her profession of faith would be a living faith that bears the fruit of love.

We now pray together for you and your sister.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we lift up this dear one who is hurting from a sister's dismissive and emotionally abusive words. Lord, You see every tear and every wound, and we ask You to heal the broken heart and bind up the pain. Grant wisdom, courage, and grace to speak truth in love, and to set healthy and biblical boundaries while still showing forgiveness and mercy. We pray for the sister, that You would convict her where she has sinned with her tongue and her attitude, that she would repent and be transformed by Your Spirit, and that her speech would become gracious and seasoned with salt, Colossians 4:6, building up rather than tearing down. Lord, restore this sibling relationship where it is Your will, bring peace where there has been strife, and help both to walk in kindness, humility, and love. Draw both closer to Jesus, and let Your will be done in their lives. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Thank you for trusting us with something so personal. It hurts in a particular way when the dismissal and harsh words come from your own sister, and even more when you both share faith in Christ. We are sorry you have been carrying this.

When hurtful behavior happens over and over, not just once, it can slowly wear down your sense of worth and leave you feeling confused, on edge, or wondering if you are overreacting. Feeling perplexed and worn down after being minimized or dismissed for a long time is understandable. Your dignity and wellbeing matter deeply to God and to us.

One gentle next step that often helps is to have a safe, steady person to process this with just for you. A trusted pastor or Christian counselor you can meet with one on one, not together with your sister at first, can give you space to sort through what is happening, think through healthy boundaries around contact and communication, and have ongoing support so you are not carrying this alone. If you have a mature friend or mentor you trust, letting them in a little can also help.

We care about your safety and wellbeing. If you ever feel unsafe or overwhelmed, please reach out right away to someone you trust nearby and to a pastor or counselor for support.

Father, we lift our sister to You in Jesus name. You see her hurt and You know her sister and all that has happened between them. We ask You to guard her heart, to bring healing where she has been torn down, to give her wisdom for each conversation and decision, and to surround her with safe people who listen well. Lead her step by step and remind her she is valued and loved by You. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden has been heard and brought before the Lord with care and sorrow. To be wounded in a close relationship, and to feel dismissed and hurt by one who professes the name of Christ, is a deep trial that leaves the heart sore and weary.

Scripture tells us that the Lord heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but even the leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His grace can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction and both bestowed by His hand. Put forth your finger as it were and touch the hem of His garment, look to Christ on the cross, for He is the heavenly Physician whose work is not to wound only but to apply the remedy.

We will pray that the Lord will heal your wounded spirit and grant you His peace and strength. We will pray also for your sister, that if she professes Christ her life may be made to adorn that profession, that the Lord would search her heart, bring conviction where there is unkindness, and work in her a tender and gentle spirit. Where there is a pattern of hurtful and abusive behavior, it is right to seek godly wisdom and help. Speak the truth in love, set needful boundaries for your own safety and health, and seek the counsel of a faithful pastor or other mature believers who can walk with you both and help to bear this burden. Forgiveness as Christ has forgiven us does not require you to remain without protection or to pretend that hurt is not hurt.

Let us pray together. O Lord, Sun of Righteousness, rise upon this wounded one with healing in Your wings. Forgive sin, heal sorrow, and bind up the broken heart. Grant wisdom to know how to walk in truth and love, courage to seek help, and grace to forgive as You have forgiven. Work also in the heart of the sister who causes this pain, that she may see her need of Your transforming grace and bear fruit worthy of repentance. Let Your healing virtue be infused and work health and cure till wholeness comes. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and Healer. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this painful situation so honestly. It is deeply hurtful when someone close to you, especially a sister who professes faith in Christ, speaks and acts in ways that are dismissive and wounding, and it is right to bring this before the Lord.

I will pray for you and for your sister. I pray that God would give you peace and strength, guard your heart from bitterness, and give you wisdom to respond with grace and truth. I pray also for your sister, that the Lord would soften her heart, help her to see how her words and actions affect you, and lead her to repentance and to a more Christlike love in how she treats you.

Scripture calls us to a love that is patient and kind, and reminds us that without love even great faith and good works are of little advantage. Part of that love is refusing to return insult for insult. When we are hurt, the temptation is to answer harsh words with harsh words, but that only disgraces our own tongue and mind and keeps the wound open. It is more noble to speak no ungenerous word even when we have been provoked, and to choose gentleness as those who have been taught by Christ to have a human and tender soul.

At the same time, love does not mean pretending the hurt is not real. Forgiveness is central to our faith, because we ourselves have received such great forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ alone. There is a way to forgiveness that does not require long journeys or great expense, but a willing choice before God to release malice and entrust justice to Him. That forgiveness frees your own heart, and God promises a great reward to those who walk in it, even calling them to account for none of their own offenses as they forgive others. Forgiving, however, does not require you to remain without boundaries or to accept ongoing harm as if it were good.

I encourage you to continue to pray, to examine your own heart before the Lord, and to seek wise and godly counsel from a trusted pastor or mature believer who can know you both and help you set healthy and biblical boundaries. If you have not already, consider sharing honestly but calmly with your sister how her behavior affects you, using words that are truthful and gentle, and inviting a third person to help mediate if needed.

Let me pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, I lift up this dear one who is hurting from her sister's dismissive and abusive words. Comfort her, heal her heart, and remind her that she is seen and loved by You. Give her wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, and grace to forgive as You have forgiven her, without holding malice. Work in her sister's heart, bring conviction where it is needed, and teach her to walk in love and to honor You in how she speaks and acts. Protect this family relationship, lead both sisters toward truth and gentleness, and let Your peace rule in their hearts. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, amen.

Please do not carry this burden alone. Keep seeking the Lord, stay rooted in His Word, and lean on faithful believers around you for support and guidance.
