Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray about my ###. Sometimes I feel very hurt by her behavior toward myself and my parents. There are multiple things contributing to her negative behavior toward us including possible spiritual warfare. Thank you.

We join with you in bringing your ### and your family before the Lord, and we understand how deeply hurtful it can be when someone close to us acts in a way that wounds us and dishonors our parents. We hear your concern that there may be spiritual influences at work alongside other struggles, and we want to stand with you in prayer for healing, restoration, and peace in your home.

Scripture reminds us that our struggle is not only with what we see, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. We are also taught to put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11. This means we do not fight your ### as an enemy, but we pray against any spiritual oppression or deception that may be influencing her, and we pray for her heart to be softened and drawn toward truth and love.

God also calls us to guard our own hearts against bitterness while we pray for those who hurt us. We are exhorted to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32 and to bear with one another and forgive any complaint, even as Christ forgave us Colossians 3:13. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. Part of that peace is continuing to honor your father and mother, as God commands in Exodus 20:12, and modeling that honor even when your ### does not, and loving her enough to pray for her good, for Jesus said love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death for our sins and His resurrection, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before His throne in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Him.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one and their ### and parents to You. Lord, You see the hurt and the tension in this family, and You know every contributing factor, seen and unseen. We ask that You break any spiritual stronghold or work of the enemy that may be influencing this ###, and that You cover this family with Your protection and truth. Soften her heart, Lord, turn her toward You, and help her to show love and respect to You and to her parents and sibling. Heal the hurt in this heart that is praying, help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, and guard us from resentment or anger. Give wisdom to know how to respond with grace and truth, how to set healthy and loving boundaries, and how to speak in a way that leads toward reconciliation. Bring peace to this home, restore what has been strained, and let Your love be evident in this family. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray faithfully for your ###, to speak to her when possible with gentleness and respect, and to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer if the behavior continues to cause deep hurt. Keep showing honor to your parents and keep entrusting your family to the Lord, knowing that He is able to work in hearts in ways we cannot. We are standing with you in prayer for complete restoration and for the Lord's will to be done in each of your lives.

We notice how much pain this relationship with your sister has brought you, especially when you see how it affects your parents too. Loving someone while feeling hurt by them is a confusing and lonely place to be, and it makes sense you would wonder about spiritual warfare when the tension feels bigger than just words or moods.

One thing that has helped others in similar family strain is learning to separate what is yours to carry from what is not. A boundary is simply a property line for your heart and time. It lets you stay caring and connected while still being free to say yes or no in a calm, clear way. Forgiveness can be part of that too, and it often comes in two layers. First a quiet decision to release the need to get even, and then over time a slower softening of the hurt as God heals the emotions. Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt did not happen or forcing closeness before it is healthy.

A gentle next step might be to pause before the next difficult interaction and decide ahead of time on one simple limit that honors both love and peace, perhaps how you will step away kindly if conversation turns sharp, and share that plan with your parents so you can support each other.

Father, we lift this sister and her family to You. Bring healing where there is hurt, wisdom for each conversation, and Your protection and peace over their home. Guide them toward what is healthy and honoring to You, and comfort her as she carries this burden. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord and remembered in prayer, and the hurt you feel on your own account and on behalf of your parents is not hidden from Him who sees all sorrows of the household.

It is right to discern that we wrestle not only against flesh and blood, and to pray earnestly against every influence of spiritual darkness that would stir up strife and harden the heart. Yet we must also remember that sin is sin, and the soul that is under such influence still needs the grace of God which alone can turn the heart and heal the wound.

There is forgiveness with God, and blessed be His name, there is forgiveness still. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and because it is divine it is surprising, complete and eternal. When the sinner comes with nothing to pay, the great Creditor cancels the whole debt, the record is nailed to the Cross, and the tally is destroyed. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and His forgiveness is without repentance. Where God draws no limit, let us draw none, for there is forgiveness with Him for the chief of sinners who will turn and believe.

This is your comfort and your pattern. Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. We who have received so much manifest forgiveness, so much outward and inward sin forgiven, ought to find it natural to open our hands and forgive. To overcome evil with good, with no weapons but love and patience and forgiveness, this is the most glorious of victories. It does not make light of sin, for wherever true forgiveness comes there comes also a fresh sight of sin and a turning from it, but it refuses to be provoked to anything save greater love and larger kindness.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness that Thou mayest be feared, look in mercy upon this family. Thou knowest the pain that has been given and the wound that has been felt. We ask Thee to set a guard against the adversary and to deliver this sister from every snare of the enemy and from the hardness of her own heart. Grant her repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone forgiveness is to be obtained, that she may know the blessed whisper, There is forgiveness, and turn unto Thee with a penitent heart. Give to this Thy servant and to these parents grace to forgive even as Christ has forgiven them, fully and freely, not keeping record of the debt, and wisdom to speak the truth in love and to set bounds that are holy and kind. Let not bitterness take root, but let healing follow forgiveness, and let Thy peace rule in this home. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, the Just who died for the unjust to bring us to God. Amen.

We have heard your request and we bring your hurt before the Lord with you. It is painful when someone close to you, especially within your own family, acts in ways that wound you and your parents, and it is right to bring that sorrow to God honestly.

Scripture calls us not to sharpen our tongues against one another or to return hurt for hurt, but to seek peace and to guard our own hearts. Even when we feel justified in our pain, we are called to honor our parents, to speak truth with love, and to pursue reconciliation where it is possible. This does not mean ignoring harmful behavior or pretending it does not hurt, but it does mean entrusting judgment to God and asking Him to help us act with patience, wisdom and mercy.

You mentioned spiritual warfare, and the Bible is clear that our struggle is not only against flesh and blood. The enemy seeks to divide families and stir up bitterness, but Christ has overcome, and He has given us the word of reconciliation and the power of prayer. We can pray both for protection and for clarity, that God would reveal what is at work, heal what is broken, and draw each heart closer to Himself. Praying for the one who has hurt you is not excusing the behavior, it is asking God to do what only He can do in her life and in yours.

Let us pray together:

Father in heaven, we come to you through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope of salvation and our peace. You see this hurt and the strain it has placed on this family. We ask you to bring comfort to this wounded heart and to give wisdom to know how to respond with grace and truth. Guard this family from the schemes of the enemy, and let your truth and love prevail in this home. Work in the heart of this loved one, draw her to yourself, soften what is hard, and heal what is broken. Help all involved to honor you, to honor one another, and to walk in forgiveness as you have forgiven us in Christ. Give strength to set healthy and loving boundaries where needed, and give hope that you are able to restore and reconcile. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

Continue to bring this before the Lord daily, stay rooted in Scripture and in fellowship with faithful believers who can support you in person, and trust that God hears and is at work even when progress is slow. If the behavior becomes harmful or unsafe, please seek wise and godly counsel from a pastor or counselor near you.
