We hear your pain and the deep wounds left by years of emotional and psychological abuse. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 14:7, "Leave the presence of a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips." It is not ungodly to set boundaries with those who persist in harming you, especially when their behavior is manipulative and conditional, kind only when they need something. Your desire for healing and protection is righteous, and we stand with you in seeking God’s justice and restoration.
We must also address the influence of others in your sister’s life. Scripture warns in 1 Corinthians 15:33, "Don’t be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals." If others are fueling this division, we pray their toxic influence is broken in Jesus’ name. However, we must also examine whether unforgiveness or bitterness has taken root in your heart, for Ephesians 4:31-32 commands, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness does not mean tolerating abuse, but it does mean releasing the offender to God’s judgment and refusing to let hatred consume you.
We rebuke the spirit of division and manipulation at work in your family. The enemy seeks to destroy relationships, but God desires reconciliation where possible. Romans 12:18 says, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." This does not mean you must subject yourself to further abuse, but it does call you to examine your own heart and respond in a way that honors God. If your sister and niece are unrepentant, distance may be necessary for your protection, but we pray for their conviction and transformation.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her family. Lord, You see the pain they have endured, the manipulation, the conditional love, the emotional wounds that run deep. We ask for Your healing touch to mend what has been broken. Pour out Your peace upon them, Lord, and guard their hearts from bitterness. Give them wisdom to set godly boundaries while still extending grace where possible.
We rebuke the spirit of division and abuse in this family. Break the chains of influence that have led to this hurt, and soften the hearts of those who have caused harm. Father, if there is any unforgiveness in this sister’s heart, reveal it to her and help her release it to You. Protect her from further harm and give her the strength to walk in Your truth.
Lord, we pray for the niece as well. If she is being influenced to repeat these patterns, intervene in her life. Surround her with godly examples and open her eyes to the love of Christ. For the sister who has passed, we trust she is in Your presence, free from all pain, and we ask for comfort for those who mourn her.
Father, we declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Heal their wounds, restore what has been stolen, and fill them with Your love. May they find their identity and worth in You alone, not in the approval of others. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or Christian therapist, to help navigate these boundaries with wisdom. You are not alone in this struggle, and God sees your pain. Trust in Him to be your defender and healer. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are deeply loved by Him.
