We are deeply grieved and alarmed by the spirit of rebellion and defiance in your words. The attitude you express is not only dangerous to your soul but directly contradicts the very nature of God, who is sovereign, holy, and good. The Bible clearly states in Proverbs 19:21 (WEB), "There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail." Your words suggest an attempt to resist God’s will, which is not only futile but sinful.

You speak of God "forcefully" opening something, yet you respond with bitterness and a determination to undermine His purposes. This is not the posture of a humble heart before the Lord. James 4:6-7 (WEB) warns, "But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.' Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Your words sound more like the rebellion of Satan than the submission of a child of God.

We must rebuke this mindset in the strongest terms. Isaiah 55:8-9 (WEB) declares, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." God’s plans are always for our good, even when we do not understand them. To deliberately act in a way that seeks to "prove" Him wrong is to align yourself with the enemy of your soul.

If you are struggling with bitterness, anger, or a sense of injustice, we urge you to bring these feelings before the Lord in repentance. 1 John 1:9 (WEB) promises, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." But repentance requires humility, not defiance.

We also must ask: Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Your words do not reflect the surrender that comes from knowing Him. John 14:6 (WEB) says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" There is no other name by which we can be saved, and no other way to approach God except through the sacrifice of His Son. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we plead with you to do so now. Romans 10:9 (WEB) tells us, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the rebellion we see in these words. Lord, we know that You are sovereign, holy, and good, and that Your plans for us are perfect, even when we do not understand them. We ask that You would break the hardness of heart in this dear one, that You would soften their spirit and open their eyes to see the folly of resisting You. Father, we pray that they would humble themselves before You, repent of this defiance, and turn to You in surrender.

Lord, if they do not know You, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself. Reveal to them the truth of who You are, the God who loves them so much that You sent Your Son to die for their sins. May they come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and may they find peace in submitting to Your will.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of rebellion in the name of Jesus. We declare that Your plans will prevail, and we ask that this person would be brought to a place of trust and obedience. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and lead them in the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We urge you to lay down your resistance and seek the Lord with a humble heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." God’s ways are higher than ours, and His plans for you are good. Surrender to Him today, and let Him lead you in the path of life.

We hear the heartache beneath your words, the ache of feeling pushed into something you never chose, the exhaustion of fighting what seems like a closed door you can't ignore. When it feels like God is forcing your hand, anger and the urge to sabotage the whole thing are completely understandable. You're not the first person to look at a path and think, Fine, I'll do it so badly that You'll give up on me. That's not weakness; that's a raw, honest reaction to pain.

Sometimes, what we experience as force from God is actually the collision of His call with a deep wound inside us. Our picture of authority, especially God's authority, can get tangled up with people from our past who were harsh, controlling, or demanded compliance without love. If that's even a possibility, it's worth gently exploring with a wise friend or pastor you trust. Not someone who will pile on more guilt, but someone safe who can help you untangle where that feeling of being forced really comes from.

In that space of honesty, something unexpected can shift. God isn't threatened by your resistance or your attempt to prove a point. He won't yank back His love if you do a poor job. He's patient with our wrestling, far more than we imagine. His plans for us are not always comfortable in the short term, but they are good, not because they feel good, but because He is good. Your fight is evidence that you still care deeply. That matters.

Lord Jesus, meet this person in their weariness and defiance. Untie the knots of distrust that painful experiences may have tied around their view of You. Give them courage to seek a safe conversation with someone who can listen without condemnation. In Your own gentle, relentless way, show them that Your plans are never a trap but a doorway to life. Amen.

Believe me, I shall not put up with such hypocritical rebellion! It will not do in one’s own house, much less in the House of God. Are you permitted to trifle with positive precepts and then lay your sin upon God’s back? I do not think so. You speak of something opened by God, and you resolve to do it poorly to make it shut, to prove His plans are not good. This is high treason against the Most High, and you think nothing of it. You make God appear the most hard-hearted of beings, and you would defy His wisdom. But hear this: the infinite horror of rebellion filled Christ’s holy soul when He bore our sin, crying out, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” That cry reveals the bitterness of sin. I ask you most seriously to question your conversion unless there is some measure of that bitterness in you. No man is truly converted until God takes His right place, first and sole in authority. Dare for once to give God a little honor. Cease fighting against Him, and let the bitterness for your sin lead you to the cross, where Christ was made bitter for sinners. Then you will find that His plans are always good.

You speak of forcing a door shut that God has opened, doing it poorly to prove His plans are not good. This is the voice of pride, and pride makes the soul unclean before God. It is the same spirit that brought condemnation to the devil. Consider what you are doing: you set yourself as judge over the Almighty, as if His will needed your approval. You are not the first to rage against His purposes. Esau wept, but his tears were not of repentance; they were of pride and wrath, and they profited him nothing. Judas repented too, but his was an evil repentance that led to the noose. Do not imagine that your defiance is strength; it is the weakness of a mind that does not know God.

If you truly knew Him, all pride would be banished. Think of hell. Think of those far holier than yourself. Think of your own sins, how many punishments you deserve from God. When you see a corpse carried through the streets, remember the nothingness of human life: it is a shadow, a dream. What are you, that you should contend with your Maker? You have received all freely, even the very breath you use to curse His plans. We are not worthy of His calling; it is only by His will that we are saved. To act poorly on purpose is to despise that grace, to heap up wrath for yourself. Ahab was destroyed for seizing what was not his by force, though he offered payment; how much worse to spite the hand that gives only good?

Instead, bend your proud mind. True greatness lies not in rebellion but in meekness. The devil loves to see a soul rush into conflict; Christ teaches us to wait, to quiet our spirit, to tremble at His words. If you wish to please God, or even to have peace within yourself, put off this vainglory. Do not prove yourself an enemy to your own soul. Repent, but repent as David did: wash your bed with tears, bewail this sin as if it were fresh, and trust that His plans are good, even when your sight is clouded.

It is a dangerous thing to set yourself deliberately against a door the Lord has opened, trying to make it shut by doing it poorly just to prove His plans are not good. That course reveals a heart that has pitched its tent toward rebellion, much like the slow progression toward evil that begins with a small turning and ends with open defiance. You are not the first to resist God’s ordering of things, and Scripture shows plainly that when men fight against the Lord, He is not worried. He does not panic over puny rebellion. He accomplishes His purposes anyway, and those who resist find themselves broken by what they mistook for a weak plan.

When Jesus lays claim to the key of David, He declares, “I open and no man can shut, and I shut and no man can open.” That open door before you is not a mistake He is waiting to correct. It is set there by His own authority, and no amount of half-hearted, deliberate failure can force it closed. You may bring it to nothing in your own experience, but you will not prove His plan was unnecessary or ill-conceived. You will only prove you would not trust Him in it.

Think carefully about the condition of the heart that says, “I will make it as poor as possible so God sees His error.” This is the very spirit the prophets wrestled against, the resistance that brought judgment on nations and distress on individuals. God knows the difference between human weakness that cries out for help and a willed determination to undermine His work. The first He carries; the second He disciplines.

The open door is not a sign that God thinks you are strong. It is often given where there is only a little strength, so that His power is displayed through dependent people who will not touch His glory. If you turn that into a stage for proving Him wrong, you are taking up a fight you cannot win and do not want to win. His plan for you, however small or large, is set within a far bigger story of redemption that stretches from a fountain opened for sin and uncleanness all the way to the day when His will is done on earth as it is in heaven.

Let the rebellion go. You do not need to sabotage what He is doing. What looks forceful to you may actually be His mercy, pressing you toward reliance rather than resentment. There is a refining that feels like fire and a preservation that feels like flight, but the end is always that He might be your God and you might be His. Do not throw that away just to make a point. Lay down the resistance, and walk through the door with whatever weakness you have, trusting the One who opens and shuts for His own good reasons.
