I am praying for you and for your ### and bringing your needs before the Lord.
I understand how concerning this is, especially with asthma and the way a cold can affect breathing, and also wanting your ### to be well as he starts school. I have asked God to touch you both, to ease your breathing, to clear the cold and sneezing, and to protect your health and his in the days ahead. I also pray He will give you rest, wisdom to care for your body, and peace as you wait on Him.
Scripture shows that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly, sometimes healing came gradually, sometimes with a touch and sometimes only with a word from a distance. He is not confined to one pattern. The Bible also teaches that every true healing is from God. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and that natural process is still His work, because He is the one who created nature and its processes. Whether healing comes in a moment or step by step through recovery, it is still the Lord who heals.
Please do not feel that being sick means you lack faith. That is a mistaken teaching. The Bible makes clear that God does not always will instant healing in every case, as we see when Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the Lord answered in another way. God hears every prayer, and His answer is according to His perfect wisdom and love. At the same time we can come with confidence, because Matthew connects the prophecy of Isaiah, that He bore our griefs and infirmities, to the physical healings Jesus did. He bore our sicknesses as well as our sins, and He went about teaching, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and disease among the people. We can also use the simple means He has given us to help faith, like prayer and anointing with oil, not because there is power in the act itself, but because it gives a point to release our trust in Him.
So I pray now for you: Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this loved one who is suffering with a cold and struggling to breathe. Please bring healing, ease the congestion, protect the lungs and airways, and let strength return. Guide in using the care and helps You have provided, and let the recovery come, whether quickly or gradually, by Your hand. I also lift up the ###. Please take away what is causing the sneezing, guard his health as he is at school around others, and keep him well. Above all, draw you both close to Jesus, who gives not only healing for the body but life for the soul, for without Him we are still separated from God no matter how well we breathe or think or live. May you know His presence, His comfort, and His healing in body, mind, and heart according to His gracious will. Amen.
