[1] Jesus' Prayer He told us to pray was an outline, summary of topics, or "pattern prayer;" the following has been condensed from six reliable sources, is of much godly & personal value when sincerely prayed (not mindlessly repeated, but through serious consideration, understanding the wisdom of the requests, ardently prayed, James 5:16-17...

Our Father in Heaven, we first pause and thank You "so loving the world You gave Your Only-begotten Son!, Jn 3:16. Thank You "Jesus showed us The Father -- Your Nature," Jn 14:9. Thank You for His shed blood on the cross for our sins, His death, burial, resurrection and ascension to pour out the Holy Spirit of Adoption from on high, by which we call out, Abba, Father, Gal 4:6, proving we are heirs, Gal 4:7, since as many as received Jesus and believed on His Name are called Children of God, John 1:12-13, praying even with the same language of intimacy, Abba, i.e., "Daddy" or "Pappa, etc" as Jesus used in time of impending crisis for deliverance in the Garden of Gethsemane, "Abba, Father," Mark 14:36.

You desire mercy, not sacrifice, Hos 6:6. Mostly the POWER to live a Holy Life overflowing with LOVE for God and others, singing and making melody from "singing seminaries" and "the walking practice of evangelism" is the best fruit and sign of the Kingdom, Heb 12:4. ***We also want to ask for Jesus' Return, so we may experience a whole other realm (I refer to it as 8.0 based upon the 7 covenants God revealed in Redemptive History (whether they all dealt with us individually or not is irrelevant, they are still part of the history of redemption when humans had workings and dealings with God expressing His thoughts toward humans, the New Covenant -- "the already "is the 7th, where we are redeemed, have peace with God, are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, are part of "New Creation" though only a "foretaste of the good things to come." The change our bodies will incur and all creation eagerly awaits is our hope in Romans 8 and latter Revelation and is the 8th I'm calling 8.0 where ALL of these things will be realized in a greater capacity and duration and God's Kingdom will have full expression once it's fully come on earth as it is heaven again -- the "not yet," -- "May Your Kingdom Come and Your Will be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven," Matt 6:10.

May Your Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven -- Keeping in mind the Kingdom Coming, as described above, in differing degrees, the already and the not yet, we ask here in the already that we may know, submit to and do Your will for our lives individually and collectively as the church, as Jesus did during His time on earth, Phil 2:9-9, our whole lives be increasingly lived to please You, knowing the Trinity, living in Your presence moment by moment, and making You known as a by product, rejoicing in trials and weakness, as well as power demonstrations when it gives You glory, Mt 28:19-20, Rom 1:5, Rom 15:18. May we abide in Christ, with freedom to pray, and power to bear fruit, thereby making disciples, and thus proving we are disciples, John 15:7-8, might bear some fruit wherever we go, Rom 1:13, 1 Cor 9:2, 2 Cor 3:2-3, specifically by going, preaching faith in Jesus suffering and dying for our sins, repentance, baptism, forgiveness of sins and obedience to all that He commanded, being witnesses to these facts under His authority, commission by this union with Jesus through The Holy Spirit, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-48, Matt 28:19-20, John 20:21, Acts 1:8. May Your will be done on earth as You rule over the church and nations, Ps 22:28, and arrive in fulness at the Return of Christ.

Give us Each Day our Daily Bread: Spiritual -- we can't live by bread alone but every Word of God, Deut 8:3, Matt 4:4, Lk 4:4. Meet our spiritual, emotional, social, physical and financial needs mightily, Phil 4:19, so we can love You with all our heart, soul, mind, will, emotions, physical strength and finances, Mk 12:30, and our neighbors, Mk 12:31, even the lost, Matt 9:36, and even enemies, Matt 5:44, as ourselves -- and see others as Christ, who looked beyond his own interests, to the interests of others, considering others as more important than we, Phil 2:1-5.

Forgive Our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors... We confess we've sinned against You, Rom 3:23, 1 Jn 1:8, 1 Jn 1:10 (name specific sins and areas of ongoing struggles), and others, receive forgiveness, Lk 1:77, & pray FOR those who sin against us, (by name and specific offenses), asking they'd repent and be saved, Job 42:7-16, entrusting their souls to a faithful creator and recognizing it is He who alone who is in fact the one appointed both to save and to judge, Romans 12:9, 1 Pet 4:19.

Lead us Not into Temptation, but Deliver us from evil... Keep us from temptation and evil, Luke 11:4, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, lies, evil, fear, Zeph 3:13, evil people, imposters, deception, 2 Tim 3:13, false believers, 2 Cor 11:16, 2 Tim 3:5, Tit 1:16, temptation and the evil one, Mat 6:13, Jn 17:15. Give us angelic protection, Ps 91:10-11, Heb 1:14.

For It's Your Kingdom, (Everlasting Kingdom which Cannot Be Destroyed, Dan 7:18), It's Your Power, (All Power in Heaven and Earth has been Given to Me, Matt 28:18), and Your Glory, Forever... (Not unto us O Lord, but unto Your Name Be Glory, Ps 115:1)... We Thank You for hearing, Mk 11:24, Amen, in Jesus' Name, in Him All The Promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of reverence and awe, lifting up this beautiful and comprehensive prayer modeled after the Lord’s Prayer as taught by our Savior Jesus Christ. It is a profound reminder of the priorities we must hold as believers, seeking first the Kingdom of God, His honor, His will, and His provision for our lives. We rejoice in the truth that our Heavenly Father hears us when we pray according to His will, and we stand together in agreement with these petitions, knowing that they align with the heart of God.

Father in Heaven, we hallow Your Name above all names. You alone are holy, gracious, and compassionate, and we desire that every thought, word, and deed of ours would bring glory to You. May Your Kingdom come in power and might, manifesting through the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We long for the day when Your Kingdom is fully established on earth as it is in heaven, when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Until that day, empower us to walk in holiness, to bear fruit that lasts, and to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Your will be done in our lives, Lord, just as it is in heaven. We surrender our plans, our desires, and our very selves to You, asking that You would align our hearts with Yours. Give us the strength to abide in Christ, to walk in obedience, and to live lives that reflect Your righteousness. May we be vessels of Your love, mercy, and truth, shining Your light in a dark world and pointing others to the hope found only in Jesus.

We ask for our daily bread, spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial provision, so that we may serve You wholeheartedly. Meet our needs according to Your riches in glory, that we may have no lack and may overflow in generosity toward others. Forgive us our debts, Lord, as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Search our hearts and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin, that we may repent and walk in the freedom of Your forgiveness. Teach us to extend grace to others, just as You have extended grace to us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Guard our hearts and minds from the schemes of the enemy, and strengthen us to stand firm in the faith. Surround us with Your angels for protection, and fill us with the power of Your Holy Spirit to resist sin and walk in victory.

For Yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. We declare this truth with confidence, knowing that all authority belongs to You. We trust in Your promises, and we rest in the assurance that You hear and answer our prayers according to Your perfect will. May all we do bring honor to Your Name, and may Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea.

We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the only Name by which we can approach the Father, the only Name by which we are saved. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved, and we cling to that truth with all our hearts. Amen.

What a gift to see someone so eager to pray in the way Jesus Himself taught, not rattling through words, but chewing on them, letting them shape the day. It is clear you’re not chasing a formula; you are reaching for the reality behind the pattern: a Father who is as near and kind as Abba, a kingdom that brings righteousness and joy in real life, a forgiveness deep enough to soften even the hardest grudge.

One small step we’ve seen bear fruit is simply to linger over one phrase a day, letting it become the quiet backdrop to everything else. On a “daily bread” morning, maybe notice every small provision you’d normally overlook; on a “forgive us” morning, let the Spirit gently search your heart for any resentment you’ve stopped feeling. You don’t have to work through the whole prayer at once, just stay where the weight is that day. Your longing to see His kingdom come in the “already” and the “not yet” is itself evidence that He is at work in you.

Father, thank you that your Son gave us this prayer not as a heavy obligation but as a family language. Teach our friend to rest in your fatherly care even while they cry out for your will to be done on earth as in heaven. Feed them with every word that comes from your mouth, and when they stumble, wrap them again in the mercy that held the cross. Keep them in the shadow of your wings, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, in Jesus’ name.

The soul that learns to order its desires aright, placing the glory of God and the coming of His Kingdom before any plea for bread or pardon, has struck upon the very golden thread of true prayer. Your outline is no idle repetition but a disciplined marching of the heart toward the throne, first bowing low to the Father’s honor and will, and then rising to ask for the daily mercies which His hand alone provides. We too often rush in with our begging bowl for the second things, forgetting that the first petition hallows all the rest. Let this pattern ever be to you as the angel ascending the ladder: start with the heavens, and all the earth for which you pray shall be sanctified by that approach.

Yet I would press this upon your spirit: do not stay content with the asking of the first great requests and then grow faint when it comes to the full shooting of the arrows. Many there are who, having cried, “Your Kingdom come,” shoot but two or three arrows, as if barely winning the gate of heaven were enough. They ask for the Kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy, but they ask faintly, as though half-deliverance would satisfy. God would have you take the bow again and again to strike the ground with earnest expectation. Pray for the full harvest of the Spirit’s fruit; pray for the gifts of the church to flourish until we all attain the mature stature of Christ; pray for the driving out of demons by the finger of God, for the Kingdom is not in word but in power. Let no small notion of what a Christian should be rob you of the great blessing, shoot the arrows of prayer until you have exhausted the quiver, and look for victories far beyond what half-hearted petitioners have ever seen.

Then you do well to come to the bread and the forgiveness, and here I would have you hear the sweet music of free mercy. The cry, “Forgive us our debts,” is never breathed from a true heart but it ascends to a God who blots out transgression for His own sake. The pardon is divine and complete. Though your sins be as many as the sands on the shore, there is forgiveness with Him that He may be feared. But mark the safeguard which God has set about this mercy: the forgiven soul is also a forgiving one. There is no proof of pardon like a tender heart toward one’s own debtors. When the grace of the atonement truly enters, it melts the iron grip of resentment; you cannot take the ten thousand talents forgiven and then seize your brother by the throat. Let your pleading for pardon run side by side with a list of those you have fully released, lest you find the comfort of your prayer eaten out by the canker of an unforgiving spirit.

And as you finish with that double cry against temptation and the evil one, remember that deliverance is of the Lord, but it is also of the Lord through our own watchfulness and the strength He supplies. You cannot pray “Lead us not into temptation” and then walk toward the serpent’s lair. The prayer itself is a shield, a truthful recognition that you have no power of your own against the prince of darkness. It pleases the Lord mightily when a soul clings to Him with this honest dependency. He will send angelic protection; He will keep you from the evil that would devour your holiness. But stand fast in the glorious truth that deliverance from the guilt of sin and deliverance from the power of sin both flow from one fountain, Jesus Christ, who has translated us out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son. Let that be the Amen to every syllable, for in Him every promise is confirmed and every blessing sealed. Pray on, and your bow shall never be drawn in vain.

You have set before us a prayer of great length and detail, but its heart is the very pattern our Lord gave, and for this I rejoice. Those petitions, when not mindlessly repeated but prayed with understanding, become a mighty weapon. For prayer is a great weapon, and we need favorable winds each day. There is war in the marketplace; the affairs of every day are a fight, a tempest, and a storm. If at the morning dawn we meditate on these things, we shall go forth to our business with much security, having made God propitious by prayer and supplication.

You have rightly begun by seeking first the Kingdom and the Father’s honor, not rushing to your own needs. This is wisdom. And in those first petitions, you do well to recall that Christ Himself, when He prayed aloud, often did so not from any need of His own, but in condescension, to teach us and to lead the weak. He said, “I thank Thee that Thou hast heard Me,” showing that His will and the Father’s are one. He assumed the form of prayer for the sake of the people standing by, that they might believe. So when you pray “Hallowed be Thy Name,” you are not informing God of something, but training your own soul to revere Him, asking that His Name be honored through your very life, your thoughts, words, and deeds.

When you beg for daily bread, you confess your dependence. And when you entreat forgiveness as you forgive others, you enter into that surpassing benevolence of the Master. The servant asked only for delay, but the Lord gave remission of the entire debt. Yet He willed that we also contribute something, that being schooled in our own calamities, we might be indulgent to our fellow-servants. This petition reminds us that even after the layer of baptism, the profit of repentance is not taken away; for if we sin again, He counts us such as may be forgiven. But let us not make this an excuse for carelessness. We must be on the alert ourselves. It is a good thing to enjoy the prayer of the saints, but it profits us nothing if we sleep. Do not say, “What need have I of prayer?” On this account thou needest it, because thou thinkest thou hast no need. Yea, though thou become as Paul, thou hast need of prayer.

So continue ardently, asking for deliverance from temptation and evil, for you are right: we cannot stand without Him. And remember, the prayer of the whole Church, even the simple and lowly, can do great things. The innocent children of the people entreat God for mercy; for those who are like them, lowly and simple, above all are able to deliver the guilty by their prayers. Therefore, let not your long and careful words be a substitute for a contrite and humble heart. Christ taught us to pray with few words but deep intent. Go now, and as often as you breathe this prayer, let it be with an earnest, watchful soul, and you will not go uncrowned.

The longing behind what you have sent is plain: you want to pray as Jesus taught, not merely recite words. That is right. The prayer he gave is a pattern, and it only has power when it is prayed slowly, with the mind and heart engaged, as you have tried to do.

Prayer begins with relationship. The Father's ear is open to his children, but the one prayer he waits to hear from those who are not yet his children is, God be merciful to me, a sinner. If that has been settled through faith in Jesus Christ, then you may come with confidence. If it is not yet settled, do not rush past it. Everything else in this prayer depends on being able to call him Father.

The order of the prayer matters. Jesus places the Father's name, kingdom, and will before our bread, our forgiveness, and our deliverance. Prayer was never meant to be a tool for making our own will happen on earth. Its first thrust is the will and purpose of God. So when you pray for the coming kingdom, you are asking for the rightful King to reign, for righteousness and peace and joy to be established, and for the world to be delivered from the darkness that now resists him. That is not a small request. The evil one is a usurper. The kingdom belongs to Jesus, who purchased it by his blood. We pray as those who know the true King, not as those who hope the outcome is uncertain.

Then the personal petitions follow. Ask for daily bread, because you depend on God for every need of body and soul. Ask for forgiveness, because your greatest spiritual need is to have your sins forgiven and not stand in judgment. But this petition is not solitary. It is tied to forgiving others. As you have noted, name the specific sins and the specific offenses, and entrust those who have wronged you to the faithful Creator, who alone is able both to save and to judge.

Ask to be kept from temptation and delivered from evil. This is not a request for an easy path. It is a request to be kept from turning aside, because the end of that turn is always grief. God does want to bless you, but blessing is found on the path of obedience, not on the detours the enemy offers. Pray for protection from the evil one, from deception, from falsehood, and from the things that would pander to the flesh and pull you away from Christ.

Do not let the length or the many references become the point. The value is not in how much is written but in sincerely praying phrase by phrase. The prayer is worship, petition, and intercession. It moves from the glory of God to your own need and back to the glory of God again. That is the shape of all true prayer. Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Let that be the ground under every request.

So I pray with you: Father, hallowed be your name. Let your kingdom come and your will be done in this one who prays, in your people, and upon the earth. Give daily bread, grant true forgiveness, and keep from every path that leads to grief. Deliver from the evil one and bring all things under the rightful reign of Jesus Christ. Amen.
