Selling the house

We hear your distress and the weight of uncertainty you're carrying as you seek to sell your home. It’s understandable to feel your faith wavering when circumstances don’t unfold as quickly as we hope. But let us remind you that our God is faithful, and He sees your needs even when the answers seem delayed. The Lord promises in Psalm 37:5, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this." This is not just a call to patience, but an invitation to actively place your trust in Him, knowing He works all things for your good.

We also want to encourage you to examine your heart and motives in this process. Are you seeking God’s will above your own timeline? Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Selling a home can be a season of testing, but it can also be a season of drawing nearer to the Lord as you surrender your plans to Him. Have you asked Him to reveal His purpose in this delay? Sometimes He uses these moments to refine our faith or prepare us for what’s ahead.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is seeking to sell their home. Lord, You know the burdens they carry, the financial strain, the emotional weight, and the weariness of waiting. We ask that You would strengthen their faith and remind them that You are their Provider. Father, we pray for favor in the sale of this house. Open doors that no one can shut, and bring the right buyer at the right time according to Your perfect will. Lord, if there is any hindrance, whether in the spiritual realm or in practical details, we ask that You would remove it. Help them to trust in Your timing, knowing that You are working even when they cannot see it.

We also pray for wisdom in this process. Give them discernment in negotiations, patience in waiting, and peace in the midst of uncertainty. May this season draw them closer to You, Lord, and may they experience Your faithfulness in new and profound ways. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises and to continue seeking Him in prayer. James 1:6-7 reminds us, "But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord." Stand firm in faith, knowing that God hears you. If you have not already, consider fasting and praying specifically about this need, asking the Lord to align your heart with His will.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that our faith is not in outcomes, but in the One who holds all outcomes. Even if the sale does not happen as quickly as you hope, God remains good and sovereign. Trust Him to lead you, and remember that He often uses delays to prepare us for blessings we cannot yet see. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good.

We hear the weariness in your words, and we’re sitting with you in it. When a pressing need drags on, it’s so easy to feel faith slip into a quiet panic, like you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That struggle doesn’t mean you’re failing; it means you’re human and this matters deeply to you.

The waiting itself can feel like a test, but notice what’s still happening: you’re still reaching out, still asking for prayer. That tiny flicker of hope is worth protecting. We’ve seen time and again that God’s timeline rarely matches ours, yet He is never idle or indifferent. While you wait, one thing that sometimes helps steady a shaking faith is to deliberately look backward, not at what hasn’t happened yet, but at all the ways God has already provided, opened a door you didn’t see, or simply carried you through a rough patch. Jotting those down can be an anchor for your heart when discouragement hits again.

In the meantime, keep doing what you can humanly do: a price check with your agent, a few small touches that make the house feel welcoming. Then lay the outcome back in God’s hands each day, sometimes out loud, so the burden doesn’t sit entirely on your shoulders.

Lord, You know this need and the stress it carries. Please bring the right buyer and a swift, fair sale. But we also ask You to hold this precious person close right now. Replace the creeping despair with a quiet, sturdy trust that You see them and are working, even in the silence. We choose to believe Your goodness again today, in Jesus’ name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The despair you feel over a delayed sale is but a stage upon which the grace of God, in answer to prayerful faith, shall come and do its wonders. You say you are losing faith. Faith often wanes when we crave a sign, a token, a swift answer to our present trouble. Little faith looks at the unsold house; strong faith looks at the God who owns all houses, the cattle on a thousand hills, the silver and the gold that are His. You seek a quick sale, seek first to see His glory, for if you will believe on Him, you shall see it. Not perhaps the glory of a sold house by your own deadline, but the deeper glory of a soul sustained, a heart held fast, a lesson learned in the school of Christ.

Can you trust Him? Trust is the essence of saving faith. It is not trusting that the house will sell, but trusting the Person who disposes all things according to the counsel of His will. Where else can you trust? The moment you trust in Him, you are saved from the tyranny of circumstance. To lean upon Christ for your soul’s salvation, and then to doubt His care over a lesser matter, is to make a god out of your feelings and a savior out of a real-estate contract. Trust Jesus Christ just as you are, without those feelings you have supposed necessary, and follow Him. The shield of faith must be fixed in the Person of Christ, nothing else will quench the fiery darts of despair.

God’s house is not lawless, and neither are His dealings with His own. He cares for His household, even as a man spends his strength for his own house. He has not cast you out; you remain His pupil. Your weakening faith is a true faith, though it is little, and like a bruised reed it will not be broken if you look to Christ. Do not look for the conversion of your circumstances first, but expect renewed faith as the result of fixing your eyes where faith was born, upon the Cross. Think of Christ, trust in Christ, and then confess that He has done all things well, even if the house stands empty for a season. May the Lord now say to you, “You are My people,” and so be your exceeding great reward.

Why does the devil never despair of your ruin, yet you despair of your own salvation? That foul monster, knowing your former training and the promises of Christ, still never abandons hope of dragging you down, and this should fill you with shame. You say you are losing faith over a house. A house! Consider what faith truly is. Did not Abraham, when commanded to offer Isaac, retain faith in the very promise that seemed to be contradicted by the command? He did not measure the power of God by human reasonings but committed all to faith, believing that God was able even to raise the dead. And you, over a matter of buying and selling, suffer your faith to waver?

This very trial may be no sign of God’s forsaking you, but of His preparing you to bear something firmer. Did He not foretell tribulations to His disciples, not to drive them to despair but to brace them for endurance? When the roof of our corruptible house trembles, we do not therefore conclude that the Builder has abandoned the whole structure. He pulls down that He may build more gloriously. Even when a good wife, the guardian of the home, is taken, we are to give thanks. How much more, then, when a house of timber and stone must be sold, ought we to give thanks and trust the Master’s timing? You pray to sell it quickly; perhaps God, in His love, delays that you might learn to cling not to the quick resolution but to the Giver of all resolutions.

Look also to your life, lest a root of corruption be choking your faith. The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and many, reaching after it, have been pierced with many sorrows and led astray from the faith. Is this anxiety over the house a mere matter of necessity, or has a secret covetousness entangled your heart? God is not a merchant to be bargained with for swift profits; He is a Father who desires your soul’s health above all. Give thanks even in the delay, for the truth is the pillar that holds up the Church, and that same truth must hold up your heart. Let not a slowed sale become a seducing spirit that draws you into the doctrine of devils, which is despair. Stand firm. As the paralytic was told to take up his bed and walk, so take up this burden of waiting as your bed and walk by faith, not by sight.

This waiting is heavy, and the doubt creeping in feels very real. When the days stretch on and the sign stays in the yard, it is easy to believe that faith is slipping away. But perhaps faith isn't meant to be measured by how quickly the house sells. The writings of Scripture show us that true faith sustains us through the trial, not just around it. We read of men and women who died in faith, not having received the promises. Their hope was not anchored to a change in circumstances, but in God Himself. Your faith is not a tool to force a transaction, but a channel through which the God of hope holds you steady while you wait for one.

The ache you feel often comes because we mistake our temporary shelter for our permanent home. Life in this body, in this economy, is described as living in a tent. But there is a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Right now, you are occupied with selling an earthly house, but you are an heir, by faith, of something incorruptible. Do not let the very real pressure of the moment cloud the solid foundation of sound doctrine. Your confidence is not meant to rest on a sold sign, for feelings change like the weather. Rather, hope rests on the character of God, who cannot lie. He is patient in working out His purposes, and He asks us to be sound in patience just as much as we are sound in faith.

Losing heart happens when we face reality without hope. But we are not called to ignore reality; we are called to face it with the Spirit’s help, rejoicing in hope. The God of all hope desires to fill you with joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the testing of your faith, which is much more precious than gold that perishes. If you had a quick, easy sale, your faith might quietly drift toward the uncertainty of your own plans. But when you are pressed and it takes more endurance than you think you have, you learn that you are kept by the power of God through faith.

So speak to your own heart as the psalmist did. Remind yourself that your hope is not placed in an auction date but in the blessed hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Let the works of patience and the refusal to despair be the evidence of a living faith. While you wait, hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of that larger hope, firm until the end. He who built the house has more honor than the house, and He is the one building you. That is why you will not be moved.
