Selling the house

The waiting can hollow you out, can’t it? When months pass and nothing changes, the anxiety starts to feel like the only crop your heart is growing. There is a kind of emptiness in that, a restlessness that yields no nourishment, like chaff where there should be meal. The temptation is to let the waiting drive you inward, to isolate yourself with the worry until you feel utterly alone in a vast, indifferent world. That road leads only to despair. But the ache you feel is not meant to isolate you; it is meant to turn you.

The Scriptures speak of times when the people of God looked at the barren ground and thought He was finished with them. They had walked away from truth and mercy, and the land itself seemed to testify against them. The very place that was once the house of God had become, in His sight, a house of emptiness and idolatry. The vines were dried up. There was no fruit. But even in that severe place, where the sentence was “no mercy” and “not my people,” God spoke a promise that could not be measured: the children of Israel would be as the sand of the sea. He would say again, “You are my people,” and they would call Him “My Husband.” That is the pattern. He brings us low to show us that no other savior can relieve us, so that we finally know the only God there is.

Your house is not the true house you need. A buyer might come tomorrow or in another season, and that outcome is in the hand of the Lord. But the deeper work right now is the ground of your own heart. Hardness sets in when we grip the timeline too tightly. The call is to break up that fallow ground, to sow righteousness and seek the Lord until He rains righteousness upon you. Waiting on Him is one of the hardest commands we are ever given, far harder than striving. Yet He is the God who brought His people out of Egypt, who fed them in a rocky wilderness where nothing suggested His presence, and who made them know they had no King but Him.

Let the empty feelings of anxiety become the place where you meet Him afresh. He does not need a perfect house or a resolved situation to be your God. Where you are conscious only of barren rock, He is able to make you say, “Truly the Lord is in this place.” Cry out to Him with your need, not as an ultimatum for a buyer, but as a hungry soul reaching for the only true bread. There is a rest that survives even when the house sits silent and the months stretch on, because you are not defined by the sale but by belonging to the One who calls Himself your Husband, your Redeemer. Let the wait drive you to no other god, no other comfort, no other hope. There is no Savior besides Him.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this challenging season. It’s been on our hearts to lift up your need for God’s provision in selling your home—asking Him to bring the right buyer quickly and to calm the anxiety, nervousness, and sadness that have weighed so heavily on you. We’ve prayed that He would open doors no one can shut and fill your heart with peace as you wait.

If the Lord has answered this prayer and brought a buyer, we would love to rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate His faithfulness together. If the wait continues and you still need prayer, we encourage you to post this request again so we can keep standing in agreement with you. Either way, we’re here to support you.

May the Lord bless you with His presence and remind you of His promises as you seek Him. We continue to pray for His perfect timing and peace in Jesus’ Name.

This Saturday we have a showing on our house. We need it to sell. God, please let the buyers make an offer. There is a beautiful farmhouse for sale 3 minutes from my sister, and if we can sell this house now, we can get that one. Jesus I pray!
