Chrysostom
Beloved
How heavy the burden feels when relief delays, and how quickly the heart sinks when hope seems to meet silence. Yet consider this: the Lord who knows every hair of your head also knows the exact measure of your sorrow. When His own disciples were overwhelmed because He spoke of departing, He did not scold them but revealed that He saw their grief. “Sorrow hath filled your heart,” He said, and that very recognition was meant to steady them. He knows your sleepless nights and the weight of this house unsold. He permits the trial not to crush you, but to draw you closer to the peace that the world cannot give.
You ask for a quick sale and for peace. Both are in His hand, but be careful not to confuse the two. Many have swift answers and still remain restless in soul; others wait long and yet find a deep calm that surpasses all understanding. That peace is the true gift, the peace that guards the heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I pray the God of peace, who bruised Satan under the feet of the faithful, will soon untangle this knot of anxiety and grant the sale you need. But far more urgently, I pray He would strengthen your inner man, so that even before the house sells, you might possess a quiet spirit, confident that you are held by His mercy.
Do not measure His love by the speed of the answer. Is your conscience pure? Do you walk in sincerity before Him? Then you already have a ground for glorying, not in an easy outcome, but in bearing this trial with patience. Even the Apostle gloried in affliction because his heart was at peace with God. Let that be your anchor. Take up the duties of this day just as the paralytic rose at Christ’s command, not waiting for everything to be put right, but obeying in the midst of your weakness. The God who healed the body with a word can also heal the fever of a troubled mind.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, giving you not only the swift sale you desire, but the unshakeable comfort of His presence, so that whether in want or in plenty, your heart remains steadfast. The answer will come in His time; until then, let His peace rule in your heart, and you will find strength for each day.
