Thank you for sharing this request and allowing us to pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Having just come through surgery to have the large tumor removed and now facing a scan tomorrow to see if it is completely gone, and to decide about radiation for the smaller tumor, it is understandable that your heart would feel anxious as you wait.
This waiting period is when fear so easily rises, and Scripture shows us the cure for fear is remembering the Lord and keeping our eyes on Him. David said even when he walked through the valley of the shadow of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. When we forget the Lord and look only at the problem, fear takes hold, but when we remember who He is, His greatness and His presence with us, faith rises. Fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith is pushed out, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear is driven away. Like Peter when he stepped out on the water, as long as his eyes were on Jesus he could walk forward, but when he looked at the wind and the waves, fear gripped him and he began to sink. In this moment, keep looking to Jesus. You can do what is wise and prudent, following the doctors and going through the scan, without being motivated by fear. If God is your protector and your confidence, you can rest in His care whether on the hospital bed or in the waiting room.
We also bring your need for healing to the Lord who reveals Himself as the One who heals. Throughout the Gospels a large part of Jesus ministry was touching and healing those who were sick and afflicted, showing His tender compassion. The prophet Isaiah said of Him, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our infirmities, and that truth is applied to His healing work. He is the One who becomes to us whatever our need requires, and when we need healing He meets us as healer. We do not always understand His ways in healing. Sometimes healing is instant, sometimes it is gradual, and sometimes it comes through the natural processes He has built into our bodies and through the wisdom He gives to physicians. All true healing is from Him. We trust His goodness, which He has stored up for those who reverence Him, even as we pray for His mercy in your body.
To reverence the Lord in this way is the beginning of wisdom. It is not a terror that makes us hide, but a holy awe that recognizes who God is, His power and His love, and leads us to love what He loves and to trust Him fully. Those who live in that reverence can know His care. As the psalm says, those who fear the Lord will lack no good thing, and the Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear, the Lord is the strength of our life, of whom shall we be afraid. He hears when His people cry to Him and He is near in trouble.
So we pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one to You. We ask that tomorrow's scan would show that the large tumor has been completely removed with nothing remaining. We ask for clear wisdom for the medical team as they evaluate the smaller tumor and consider radiation, that You would guide their judgment and give them insight to choose what is best. We ask for Your peace to guard this heart and mind tonight, driving out fear and strengthening faith as eyes remain fixed on You. We ask for Your healing touch, whether through a miraculous work or through the treatments You have provided, and we trust Your goodness and Your presence through this valley. Amen.
We will continue to pray for you as you wait for these results and for the Lord to make His presence and His peace very real to you.
