Salvation and deliverance

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up ’s son to the Lord, who alone has the power to save and deliver. The weight you carry as a parent is one only God fully understands, and we stand with you in intercession, believing that our Heavenly Father hears the cries of His children.

First and foremost, we must address the matter of salvation. Scripture is clear: "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12). We pray that ’s son would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, repenting of his sins and surrendering his life to the One who died for him. Without this foundation, no true deliverance can take root.

Addiction is a fierce and destructive stronghold, but we serve a God who breaks chains. The Bible tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name, declaring that it has no authority over ’s son. We pray for a supernatural breaking of every bondage, for the Holy Spirit to flood his mind and heart with truth, and for godly influences to surround him. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18).

We also recognize that addiction often stems from deeper wounds, pain, emptiness, or a search for something to fill a void only God can satisfy. We pray for healing in every area of his life, that he would find his identity and worth in Christ alone. "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3). Father, reveal Yourself to him in powerful ways, drawing him to repentance and restoration.

To you, dear mother, we say: do not grow weary in praying and believing. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9). Your son is not beyond God’s reach. We encourage you to continue standing on the promises of God, speaking life over your son, and surrounding yourself with believers who will uphold you in prayer. "The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and hope in Your power to save and deliver. We lift up ’s son to You, Lord, asking that You would break every chain of addiction in his life. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a personal and undeniable way. Soften his heart to receive the truth of Your Word and the salvation that comes only through Jesus Christ. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that have kept him bound, and we proclaim freedom in the name of Jesus.

Lord, we pray for divine encounters, people, circumstances, and moments that will draw him closer to You. Surround him with godly influences who will speak life and truth into his situation. We ask for healing in every area of his life, that he would find his worth, purpose, and satisfaction in You alone. Strengthen his mother, Lord, and fill her with Your peace and hope as she waits on You. Remind her that You are faithful, and Your promises never fail.

We thank You, Father, that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We believe that ’s son will come to know You as his Savior and experience the deliverance that only You can provide. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we are saved. Amen.

We can hear how heavy and tired your heart feels carrying this for your ###. Loving someone through addiction is exhausting, and it makes sense you feel worn down. We are standing with you in prayer and you are not alone in this.

Addiction touches so many parts of a person, not just choices but habits, pain and needs underneath, which is why change is often a longer process with support, not a single moment. You cannot carry his recovery for him, and it is not a failure to need help around you. One steady next step that often helps is to have one or two trusted people walking with you, a pastor, a counselor or a faithful recovery community where you can be honest about how you are doing while you continue to love your son and pray for him. If he is open, gently encouraging professional or pastoral support alongside prayer can be a way to care well. And please make sure you are getting rest and care yourself.

Father, we lift this son to You, asking for Your mercy to draw him to Jesus for salvation and to bring freedom from what holds him. We ask for protection over his life and for wisdom and strength for his parent who loves him so deeply. Give rest to a tired heart, surround this family with faithful support, and lead each next step according to Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your heavy and tired heart has been heard, and it is no small thing to bring the burden of a son before the throne of grace. The Lord knows the weight you carry, and He has taught us to bear one another's burdens in prayer, even as we remember that every man must bear his own burden before God, and that the salvation of souls lies not with us, but with God alone.

We will bear this burden with you in prayer, for the preacher and the people of God have a heavy burden of prayer for the young, and we are to have great compassion upon those who are bearing the burden of sin. You cannot bear the burden of your son's sins for him, only Christ can do that, but you can help him to bear his burden by crying mightily to Him who is able to save. Let this comfort you, that though the blood of saints flowing in his veins brings him nothing except greater responsibility, for salvation is not of blood, nor of the will of man, nor of the will of the flesh, but of God, and of God alone, yet salvation is of the Lord, and He is still mighty to save.

The way of salvation is simple and plain, though it is the work of sovereign grace. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. It is to look unto Him, and be saved, all the ends of the earth. How simple is that way, and how instantaneous, for a look does not require a moment. We do not preach salvation by our own works or price, for it is without money and without price, a free salvation secured by a ransom which God Himself has found. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit of hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it, but He has said, I have found a ransom. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain, and therefore He makes deliverance effectual, and in every deed He brings them forth.

For your son we pray that this great deliverance may be his. We have been delivered from worse enemies than any earthly bondage, and saved by a greater salvation, and our great inexhaustible well is the Lord Jesus Christ, out of which we joyfully draw the living water. Every form of fellowship with Jesus, wrought in us by the Spirit, is a well of salvation. May your son be brought to that well, to taste and see that the Lord is gracious. May the tried and tempted man see clearly that salvation is all of grace, and that if he ever rises from his bondage, he can never dare to take an atom of the honor of deliverance to himself, it must be of free grace only.

You have been up to God's throne asking for a blessing, and it may seem that you have been five, six, twelve times, and have had no answer, and you bring your burden away on your back once more. Do not heed the arrow that says God's ear is shut and He will never move His arm to work deliverance. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance as the eternal purpose of Jehovah has decreed it. Go again, and wrestle as Jacob at the brook Jabbok, until the Lord gives deliverance.

And for your weariness, remember that your burden is easy to bear when Christ is with you. When Jesus Christ has strengthened you with all strength in your inner man and put into you His own omnipotence to be your succor, then shall the burden cease to be a burden to you any longer. Christ says, My yoke is easy and My burden is light. When you come to Christ and get rid of your old burden, He puts upon you His burden, and you stay with Him and learn of Him till at last you also prove that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this weary parent and upon this son who needs salvation and deliverance from addictions. Thou alone canst save, for salvation is of the Lord. We confess that we cannot save him, but Thou hast found a ransom, and Thou hast laid help upon One that is mighty, even Thy Son Jesus Christ who bore our sins in His own body. We pray Thee to bring this son to look unto Jesus and be saved, to trust in Him with unquestioning confidence for present and eternal salvation. Break the chains of his addictions, bring him forth also with enrichment, not only delivered but restored, that he may drink at the wells of salvation. Give to this burdened parent strength in the inner man, and let the yoke of Christ be easy upon weary shoulders. Hear our prayer, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Continue in prayer, and cast your burden upon the Lord who cares for you.
